They are nocturnal and solitary spirits, appearing in remote forest glens. They have been known to consume metahuman flesh, similar to a Wendigo's essence draining power. In 2070ies they are belived to be some sort of wild spirit. In rare cases mages, witches or shamans are known to have summoned a Baba Yaga spirit by presenting a collection of offerings and then negotiated a spirit pact with the creature.

She is rumoured to be a cannibal and is blatantly creepy, harbouring a collection of eyeballs, dried up extremities and tomes covered in human skin. Baba Yaga has a stock of many magical items and manages to accumulate them through her 'business transactions' with fellow residents of Ferryport Landing. In another story the Beast was once a prince, but a witch trapped him in the form of a beast and set him on an island. There once was a prince, who cared for nothing but adventuring and rescuing fair maidens, but he rankled one too many evil hags.

The little mother was the upholder of the Shadow Curtain, and some believe, the progenitor of the entire modern incarnation of the Nosferatu clan. Picture the most hideous hag imaginable, and you might be able to imagine Baba Yaga. She is an eight-foot-tall monstrosity with four-inch iron (yes, iron) claws, sharklike iron fangs, stringy hair, grey, scarred flesh covered in pustules, rheumy eyes thick with cataracts and a long, crooked nose marred by numerous hairy warts and moles.
  • Baba Yaga (also known as Likho or Greedy Mogus) is a spectral spirit-creature that appears as a sinewy, gnarled old hag with white hair, some with only one eye.

  • Baba Yaga is the most powerfful witch in the series, as well as the most feared. Although she is absolutely hostile towards the Grimms (and everyone else), she does help them when they are most in need of her - most notably casting the entrapment spell for Wilhelm Grimm and helping the Grimms piece together the Vorpal Blade in The Problem Child. She is described as scraggy, old, ugly, and covered in warts, with long dirty nails that resemble claws. Baba Yaga likes to watch soap operas in her hut, investing herself entirely in the drama that unfolds as each episode passes, much to the Grimms' surprise. When she is first introduced in the series, her magical home is also shown; a decrepit hust which is able to move thanks to the chicken legs that unfold from it's base. Jake and the crone have a history with one another as the Grimm had snuck into her house, to steal magical items as he is Touched. In The Problem Child, this is referenced as Jake is intensely reluctant to go and face the witch to ask her for her help, although eventually he relents. Similaryl, Baba Yaga also identifies Sabrina as Touched after Sabrina steals back into the hut, ttarcted to the Wand of Merlin that she had to give up in order to get a piece of the blade. After stealing the wand, Baba Yaga turns her into a frog, shouting after an angry Canis that Sabrina, like her uncle, has an addiction to magic. Baba Yaga once again appears in The Council of Mirrors after the Grimm family and Charming go to ask for her aid in the War of Everafters. Baba Yaga blatantly refuses and only after Bunny Lancaster promises her eyes in exchange for her assistance, she agrees to get involved. Eventually, she becomes part of the new Three after Morgan le Fay is trapped within the boundaries of Fort Charming, becoming the crone within the trio. In the lost future shown in Magic and Other Misdemeanors, it is revealed that Baba Yaga had died and her hut was found cowering amongst the mountains - the Grimms had commandeered her hut and use it as their source of travel.

  • Baba Yaga is a mythological figure in Eastern European folklore. She is portrayed as being something similar to a witch. In 2000, Robert Wieder mentioned Baba Yaga when Fox Mulder told him he believed someone was using folk magic against him. (TXF: "Theef")
  • Baba-Yaga was an old hag and witch in Slavic folklore who would fly around on a giant mortar/silver birch broomstick. She was famous for kidnapping and (most likely) eating small children. The hag lived in a walking house on chicken legs. Some people have been known to seek her out for wisdom. However, while from time to time she has been known to offer guidance to lost souls (as in the tale of Vasilisa the Beautiful), it was not common.
  • Baba Yaga is a female Tyrannosaurus Rex currently residing in Siberia. She was largely responsible for the deaths of soldiers and wildlife in the surrounding wilderness. She was also very tough, as she was able to resist three darts full of very strong tranquiliser for five minutes before the drugs felled her. She apparently didn't like competition, as she didn't hesitate to kill one of her own kind when he tried to eat her prey. After finishing off her opponent she disappeared into the forest and was last mentioned stalking a herd of Antotitans. It is unknown what happened to Baba Yaga afterwards, but she is most likely still at large. She is named after a Russian witch of the same name, because the dinosaur's legs reminded the Russians of the witch's house, which is said to walk on chicken legs. She never appears in the book until the final chapters, though she is mentioned several times. At the start of the book, she ambushes and kills a lone soldier named Dima, who was smoking a cigarette. She later attacks a truck that was meant to collect Abby Maitland, Connor Temple and Nick Cutter as well as a number of Russian personnel, flipping it into the treeline and killing two of the occupants, though the third escapes. She stalks the group before provoking a stampede of Anatotitans. When the team searches for the anomaly, they encounter a wounded Torosaurus calf and while they are preoccupied with its agitated parent, Baba Yaga carries the calf away and eats it. She is briefly caught on camera by Sukhenkiy Yushenko before she kills him. She finally appears physically, when she attacks and eats Yuri Torosyan. When a soldier opens the door of his hut to investigate, she looks in and sniffs him. He promptly slams the door shut. Baba Yaga doesn't take kindly to this and bites right through the door, killing the soldier. When another shoots at her, she eats him as well. She then attempts to eat Abby Maitland, Grisha Bulov, Rina Suvova and Natacha Antila, though Abby distracts her by throwing a folding chair at her snout. This allows the latter three to escape, though the Tyrannosaurus chases after them and almost eats Bulov. Abby then shoots her twice with a tranquilizer gun, causing her to switch targets. She is shot a third time to no apparent effect and trashes the camp in her pursuit, crushing a 4x4 under her massive foot. Before she can eat Abby, Cutter comes to the rescue with an AK-74, though they are soon cornered by the massive hyperpredator. Just as she is about to eat them, the tranquilizer finally takes effect and she collapses headlong into the snow. Her next appearance is that of a climatic anti-hero, as she attacks a younger male Tyrannosaurus that was just about to eat Cutter, though this could also have been the result of a severe hangover from the tranquilizer. She emerges victorious and stomps off into the forest roaring in victory.
