  • Creedence Clearwater Revival (sometimes shortened to Creedence or CCR) was an American rock band that gained popularity in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The band consisted of lead vocalist, lead guitarist, and primary songwriter John Fogerty, his brother and rhythm guitarist Tom Fogerty, bassist Stu Cook, and drummer Doug Clifford. Their musical style encompassed the roots rock and swamp rock genres. Despite their San Francisco Bay Area origins, they portrayed themselves as Southern rock stylists, singing about bayous, the Mississippi River, catfish and other popular elements of Southern iconography.
  • Creedence Clearwater Revival's catchy music was one of the true hightlights of the whole festival. Though they started late in the night from Saturday to Sunday (around 12.30) their blend of R&B, Folk- and Country-Rock didn't fail to impress. However, John Fogerty complained that the long set of The Grateful Dead delayed their set so most of the audience went to bed when CCR performed in the middle of the night. __TOC__

  • Creedence Clearwater Revival, usually abbreviated to CCR, were a rock band of the 1960s and 1970s. Like Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Allman Brothers Band, CCR helped define the southern rock genre of the era -- this despite the band starting in the San Francisco Bay Area. The two most prominent members were the Fogerty brothers, John(lead vocals, lead guitar, primary songwriter) and Tom(rhythm guitar, backing vocals). Bassist Stu Cook and drummer Doug Clifford rounded out the band.

However, John Fogerty complained that the long set of The Grateful Dead delayed their set so most of the audience went to bed when CCR performed in the middle of the night. For some reasons CCR weren't heavily bootlegged in their prime time (1967 - 1971, when Tom Fogerty left). Luckily we got a very good recording of one of the greatest bands to fill the missing spots of the partly released set. __TOC__
  • Creedence Clearwater Revival, often shortened to Creedence and abbreviated as CCR, was an American rock band active in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The band consisted of lead vocalist, lead guitarist, and primary songwriter John Fogerty, his brother rhythm guitarist Tom Fogerty, bassist Stu Cook and drummer Doug Clifford. Their musical style encompassed the roots rock, swamp rock, and blues rock genres. Despite their San Francisco Bay Area origins, they portrayed a Southern rock style, with lyrics about bayous, catfish, the Mississippi River, and other popular elements of Southern United States iconography, as well as political and socially-conscious lyrics about topics including the Vietnam War. The band performed at 1969's famed Woodstock Festival. Although an overwhelming success, the group disbanded acrimoniously in late 1972, with Tom Fogerty having officially left the previous year and his brother John at odds with the other members over business matters and artistic control of the music, which resulted in years-long lawsuits between the former band mates. Additional conflict was bitter between John Fogerty and the CCR record label Fantasy Records, and created further protracted court battles. As a result, the band reunited musically only a few times post-breakup. John Fogerty performed onstage, at his request, without the two surviving former members at CCR's 1993 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Creedence Clearwater Revival's music is still a staple of U.S. radio airplay; the band has sold 26 million albums in the United States alone. Rolling Stone ranked the band 82nd on its list of the 100 greatest artists of all time.

Se in una canzone udirai frasi simili a: * And I was walking down on the corner, looking for the river... driving on the road... (E io stavo camminando giù nell'angolo, guardando per il fiume... guidando sulla strada); * Raining on the night, yeah, rollin' on the light, baby, from the Bayou to the Bayou... (Pioggia nella notte, si, ondeggiando sulla luce, piccola, dal Bayou al Bayou); * And it was raining on the river, looking for my baby... driving on the Bayou... (E pioveva nel fiume, cercando la mia donna... guidando nel Bayou) Starai ascoltando una canzone dei Creedence Clearwater Revival.

The two most prominent members were the Fogerty brothers, John(lead vocals, lead guitar, primary songwriter) and Tom(rhythm guitar, backing vocals). Bassist Stu Cook and drummer Doug Clifford rounded out the band. The band members met in high school, first played together as The Blue Velvets in 1959, and signed to the jazz-based Fantasy Records label in 1964, initially as a singles-oriented garage rock act called The Golliwogs. In 1968 they changed their name to Creedence Clearwater Revival and released their eponymous debut album. Their cover of "Suzie Q" received lots of air play and became their first Top 40 hit. Other notable songs from their career include "Bad Moon Rising," "Down On the Corner," "Fortunate Son," "Have You Ever Seen The Rain," and "Proud Mary." The band broke up in 1972 due to friction between the members, much of it from John Fogerty and Stu Cook. They never reunited. Clifford and Cook eventually founded Creedence Clearwater Revisited. John Fogerty started a solo career and eventually got sued for plagiarizing CCR because of a crooked deal he had inadvertently signed with Fantasy Records owner Saul Zaentz. He won the lawsuit, and in 2007 he re-signed with Fantasy after the label's new owner reinstated his royalty payments for CCR's music. The bad blood between Fogerty, Cook and Clifford persists, however; when CCR was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame, Fogerty used his cachet to forbid Clifford and Cook from taking part in the live medley played by all of that year's inductees.
