Ausgerüstet mit dem Pulver des schwarzen Lotus sowie im Besitze eines magischen Umhangs, machte er sich auf die Suche nach diesem. Nachdem er am Tor des Turm des Elefanten eine Wache beseitigen konnte, bemerkte er eine weitere Gestalt im Dunkeln: Conan, ebenfalls auf Diebestouren unterwegs. Beide beschlossen gemeinsam den weiteren Streifzug um die Schätze des Magiers Yara zu unternehmen. Die verschiedenen Löwen, als Wächter des Turms eingesetzt, wurden durch beide auf verschiedene Arten getötet, während sie sich weiter in die Höhe des Bauwerks vorarbeiteten. Dabei wurden unterwegs zahlreiche Schätze außer Acht gelassen, da Taurus auf das Herz des Elefants aus war, einem Schatz ohnegleichen. Als schließlich der höchste Punkt erreicht war, gab Taurus Conan den Auftrag nach weiteren Wachen zu suchen, während er selbst an Ort warten würde. Natürlich hatte Taurus vor stattdessen den Stein zuerst zu erreichen. Doch traf er beim Betreten des Inneren des Turms auf den Schatzwächter Yaras: eine gigantische schwarze Spinne. Taurus hatte nur noch die Kraft erneut die Tür zu erreichen und in Conans Arme zu fallen, bevor er starb. Sein Körper wurde nach der Explosion des Turms unter unzähligen Steinen begraben. Originally, Van Lunt was the only member of Zodiac who knew the true identities of all the other leaders. As Taurus, Van Lunt took New York City as his base of criminal operations. Zodiac's ultimate goal was that of world economic and political domination. The Zodiac intended to rule humanity just as its members believed that the astrological zodiac governed humanity's fate. Van Lunt first contended with the team of costumed crime fighters known as the Avengers when Jacob Fury's brother Nick Fury, the Public Director of the law enforcement agency SHIELD, impersonated Scorpio, captured the Avengers, and summoned the other eleven Zodiac leaders to Avenger's Mansion. Fury planned to free the Avengers and have them help him capture the other Zodiac leaders. The Avengers battled the costumed Zodiac leaders, but all of the members of the Zodiac managed to escape. Believing that Jacob Fury had perished, the Zodiac recruited Jacques LaPoint as its new Scorpio. Shortly afterwards, in his true identity, Van Lunt attempted a financial takeover of Stark Industries, the company principally owned by Anthony Stark, who also owned Avenger's Mansion. At this time Stark had not yet placed the mansion under the control of the Maria Stark Foundation, which finances its support with funds separate from Stark's personal fortune. Stark was forced to require the Avengers to pay him the back rent that was technically due on the Mansion in order to provide him with further financial resources with which to fight Van Lunt. To raise the necessary funds, the Avengers, ironically, ended up performing certain tasks for Van Lunt himself, such as demolishing a building standing on property Van Lunt had bought. Van Lunt told the Avengers that he did not expect to succeed in taking over Stark Industries or bankrupting it, and had launched his attack on the company merely as a ploy in order to gain the Avengers' services as his temporary employees. It seems unlikely that Van Lunt would have gone to so much trouble and expense merely in order to employ the Avengers for a week; perhaps he had truly hoped to take over Stark's company, and, upon seeing he could not succeed, decided thus to embarrass the Avengers by treating them as hired help in revenge for the trouble they had recently given Zodiac. The Avengers did not realize that van Lunt was Taurus, but they took an intense dislike to him. They fulfilled the services they had agreed to perform for him, and in return van Lunt dropped his financial attack on Stark Industries. Soon afterwards, the Avengers met the American Indian costumed champion named Red Wolf. Van Lunt had attempted to intimidate Red Wolf's father, Thomas Talltrees, into selling him his property. Thomas Talltrees refused, and in retaliation Van Lunt had his henchmen massacre the Talltrees family. Will Talltrees was the sole survivor, adopted the persona of Red Wolf, and enlisted several Avengers in helping him bring Van Lunt to justice. Red Wolf's mission of vengeance culminated in his hand-to-hand battle with Van Lunt atop a collapsing dam. Red Wolf survived the dam's collapse, but for a considerable time Van Lunt was believed dead. In actuality, Van Lunt had survived, but remained in hiding to avoid criminal prosecution, controlling his financial empire in secret. Shortly thereafter, Aries led a small army, financed by van Lunt, in capturing Manhattan Island and holding it for ransom. The Avengers and Daredevil thwarted Aries's scheme, Aries died in an explosion, and Van Lunt, as Taurus, assumed control of Zodiac and appointed a new Aries to take the originals place. As Taurus, Van Lunt embarked upon a scheme to use an enormous Star-Blazer device, powered by some form of stellar energy, to kill all the people in Manhattan who were born under the sign of Gemini as a means of demonstrating Zodiac's might to the world. The Avengers thwarted this plot and destroyed the giant Star-Blazer. An internal power struggle then occurred in which six of the Zodiac leaders turned against Taurus, who manipulated both the rebellious leaders and the Avengers into entering a death trap. But the dissident Zodiac leaders and the Avengers survived. The Avengers succeeded in defeating and capturing Taurus and the eleven other Zodiac leaders. The Avengers publicly exposed Taurus as Van Lunt, and he and the other Zodiac leaders were sent to prison. However, due to Zodiac's connections in the government, Van Lunt and most of the other Zodiac leaders soon had their sentences commuted and were freed from prison. Jacob Fury, whose human consciousness now inhabited an android body, used the Zodiac Key to create eleven other androids that would join him in forming his own Zodiac. Fury's Zodiac was defeated by the Defenders and Moon Knight, and for a long time the android Zodiac appeared to be inactive; Jacob Fury himself was again believed dead. Van Lunt, as Taurus, planned to compete in certain criminal activities with one or possibly more of the New York City-based "families" of the criminal organization called the Maggia. Learning of Van Lunt's intentions, the Maggia somehow acquired the services of the Taurus of the android Zodiac and sent it to wreak destruction at Van Lunt's new base of operations. Unable to defend himself against the android, Van Lunt contacted an associate who hired James Rhodes, the second Iron Man, to defend Van Lunt's property. Although Rhodes defeated the android, thus saving Van Lunt's life, Van Lunt regarded Iron Man as a threat to Zodiac's future plans. Deducing that Iron Man was Rhodes, Van Lunt contacted the current Aries and Aquarius and assigned them to assassinate Rhodes. However, both Aries and Aquarius failed. Later, Jacob Fury, as Scorpio, led his new version of the android Zodiac in a surprise attack on a meeting of the human leaders of Van Lunt's Zodiac. Fury had already killed LaPoint, and the android Zodiac murdered all of the remaining human Zodiac leaders except Van Lunt, who escaped. Van Lunt sought out the original Iron Man and offered to act as an adviser to him and the other West Coast Avengers in capturing and destroying the android Zodiac. The West Coast Avengers battled the android Zodiac, which eventually met temporary oblivion. Van Lunt, however, escaped Avengers custody, intending to create the human Zodiac anew. Van Lunt attempted to enlist the Shroud as the Pisces of a new human Zodiac he intended to organize. However, Van Lunt was confronted by the Moon Knight, and the two finally did battle aboard a small aircraft in flight. Mein Name ist Alexander, zu dem Zeitpunkt wo ich das gerade schreibe bin ich sechzehn Jahre alt. Das ist eigentlich das wichtigste was ihr über mich wissen müsst. Nun zu dem was mir geschehen ist. Angefangen hatte alles ganz harmlos, ich hatte es damals nicht einmal bemerkt oder gar geahnt. Nun um alles besser zu erläutern, werde ich am besten von ganz vorne beginnen. Also alles begann, zumindest glaube ich das, dass ich immer mehr das Gefühl bekam, dass alles woran ich dachte, auf irgendeiner Weise doch geschah. Wie zum Beispiel, dachte ich daran wie schön es doch wäre, wenn morgen die Schule ausfallen würde, dann tatsächlich am nächsten Tag bekam ich einen Anruf das die Schule wegen eines Brandes ausfiel. Erst dachte ich es wäre mit Sicherheit nur Zufall, doch es passierte dann immer häufiger. Als ich eines Tages einen heftigen Streit mit einem Jungen aus meiner Schulklasse hatte, wünschte ich mir sehr zu diesem Zeitpunkt, dass dieser einfach aus meinem Leben verschwindet würde. Natürlich meinte ich dies nur, weil ich sauer auf ihn war, aber es geschah tatsächlich, nach nur wenigen Tagen kam er nicht mehr in die Schule. Erst dachte ich mir nichts dabei, da dieser vielleicht krank gewesen war, doch als es mir zu Ohren kam, dass dieser vermisst wurde, bekam ich es mit der Angst zu tun. Ich meine vielleicht war es wieder nur Zufall, aber konnte dies denn wirklich sein? Na ja, es kam hinzu dass ich mich auch die ganze Zeit unwohl und beobachtet zu fühlen begann. Ich versuchte immer wieder irgendeine plausible Erklärungen zu finden, etwas das alles erklären könnte. Ich hatte eine Idee um heraus zu finden, ob diese Dinge die in letzter Zeit passiert sind wirklich nur Zufall sind. Ich fing darüber nach zu denken, wie mich doch dieser eine Baum im Vorgarten stören würde und dachte wie schön es doch wäre, wenn dieser umfallen würde. Erst passierte rein gar nichts, doch als ich eines Morgens aufwachte, lag dieser auf dem Boden. Ich ging hinaus, wollte mir das ganz genau ansehen. Jemand oder etwas hatte den Baum bis auf die Wurzeln heraus gerissen. Ab diesen Moment verstand ich, dass etwas nicht normal war. Das schlimme war ich hatte keine Ahnung was mit mir nicht stimmte oder was genau los war. Erst dachte ich darüber nach, dass ich vielleicht spezielle Fähigkeiten besitze, aber das war von mir zu dieser Zeit einfach nur Naiv. Denn alles wurde nur schlimmer. Ich hatte begonnen paranoid zu werden, es fühlte sich an, als ob ich niemals alleine wäre. Natürlich sprach ich mit meinen Eltern darüber, doch sie stuften alles was ich ihnen erzählte, nur als Fantasie ab. Das war natürlich auch am einfachsten. Nun es häuften sich immer mehr solche Dinge an, die einfach passierten nur, weil ich an diese Sachen gedacht habe. Mein Zustand verschlechterte sich immer mehr, ich ging kaum noch zu Schule, weil ich pure Angst hatte. Wovor? Keine Ahnung, ich hatte einfach nur Angst, dazu kam noch dieses unangenehme Gefühl beobachtet zu werden und nicht alleine in einen Raum zu sein. Weil ich mich immer mehr zurück zog und kaum noch das Zimmer verliess, wurden meine Eltern endlich aktiv. Sie gingen mit mir zu einem Psychologen, dieser hatte nach nur wenigen Minuten, schon eine Diagnose parat und verschrieb mir irgendwelche Medikamente. Diese halfen mir jedoch nicht, es machte alles irgendwie noch schlimmer, da ich sogar begann immer irgendwelche Gestalten zu sehen, doch als ich genauer hinsah war dort nichts. Ich wurde langsam verrückt, dachte ich immer. Das schien Tag für Tag, leider die Wahrheit zu werden. Ich weigerte mich irgendwann aus dem Haus zu gehen, schloss mich im Zimmer ein und sass stundenlang auf dem Bett, die Wand anstarrend. Alleine war ich nie, dass wurde mir klar. Jemand oder etwas war bei mir. Ich fing an ein Atmen zu hören, es war kein regelmässiges, ruhiges Atmen. Nein, es war ein unglaubliches lautes, röchelndes Atmen. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt hatten sich meine Eltern entschieden mich in die Klapse zu stecken, dort wurde ich immer nur mit irgendwelchen Medikamenten zu gedröhnt, weil ich begann zu schreien. Ich schrie, weil ich das Gefühl hatte, etwas würde mich berühren. Ich sprang meist auf, schrie aus Panik und versuchte aus dem Raum, wo ich mich befand zu fliehen. Es nützte nichts, denn es folgte mir. Da kam dieser eine Tag, dort wo ich begann zu sehen, was mit mir in einem Raum war. Dieses Ding war nicht menschlich. Es war so unglaublich hässlich und gross. Sein Kopf bestand aus einem Stierschädel, an dem vorne an der Schnauze noch Fleisch dran war. Der Kiefer schien ausgerenkt, den er hing nach unten, deshalb konnte ich seine vielen Zähne sehen, die durcheinander in seinem Maul angereiht waren, als ob sie spontan dort hinein gesetzt worden sind. Seine lange Zunge hing ihm aus dem Maul, den er niemals schloss. Es hatte keine Augen, oder wo diese Augen sein mussten, waren nur leere Augenhöhlen, aber es sah mich. Sein Blick war immer auf mich gerichtet, es wendete sich niemals von mir ab. Dann waren da noch seine unglaublich langen Gliedmassen. Zwei lange, dünne Arme und seine Hände ähnelten die von einem Menschen, doch an diesen waren scharfe Klauen angebracht. Sein Körper ähnelte eigentlich auch einem Menschen, auch wenn dieser einfach zu lang und zu dünn war. Es schien wie abgemagert, da man die Knochen durch die bräunliche Haut sehen konnte. Zum Schluss waren da noch seine genauso langen, dünnen Beine. Die meiste Zeit stand er regungslos da, beobachtet mich, als ob er wartete bis ich ihm ein Befehl gebe. Wenn ich in einen anderen Raum ging, folgte es mir. Es bewegte sich schnell, es lief entweder normal hinter mir her oder kletterte mit seinen langen Gliedmassen über die Decke. Niemand ausser mir sah ihn und glauben tat mir auch niemand. Ich versuchte an manchen Tagen sogar tatsächlich mit diesem zu reden, doch bekam nie eine Antwort. Es blickte mich mit seinen leeren Augenhöhlen nur weiter an. Mein seelischer Zustand verschlechterte sich immer mehr, ich sass bald fast nur bewegungslos da, unterhielt mich mit keinem, auch wenn ich es wollte. Ich konnte einfach nicht. Dieses Ding kam immer näher Tag für Tag. Es kam dazu das es weniger als ein Meter vor mir stand. Regungslos stand es da, mich anblickend. Ich versuchte am Anfang irgendwie Abstand zu gewinnen, doch es klappte nicht, dann gab ich schliesslich auf. Dieses Ding nahm alles von mir, alles geistige. Bis ich nur noch eine Hülle war. Ich war da, aber konnte nicht mehr klar denken oder irgendwelche Handlungen selber vollbringen. Wie eine Puppe sass ich da, wartete darauf irgendwann vom Tod erlöst zu werden. Dieses hässliche Ding war verschwunden, als es mir den letzten klaren Gedanken aus meinem Kopf hinaus riss und mich zu einer willenlosen Hülle machte. Ja, das war mein Alexander. Er hatte potenzial, aber er endete wie alle meine Opfer endeten. Seine geistige Psyche war lecker, sie langsam aus ihm heraus zu saugen, war einfach. Dies fertig zu schreiben, war einer seiner letzten Gedanken, fast schon sein letzter Wille. Natürlich habe ich es für ihn getan. Er sagte noch ich soll mich vorstellen. Nun gut, auch dass werde ich machen. Ich habe keinen bestimmten Namen. Ein alter Mann, nannte mich einmal „Taurus“, es war eigentlich nur das Wort Stier auf lateinisch, aber irgendwie mochte ich diesen Namen.
