France is one of only seven countries to be present at the very first contest, and has only been absent from two contests in its history, missing the 1974 (due to the death of President Pompidou) and 1982 (TF1 citing the contest as "a monument to drivel") contests. Despite appearing in the Contest for over 55 years, France has never taken last place, (up until 2014 after accumulating only two points) although they ended up placing second to last five times. However though, the country has never received Nul Points.
  • France is a country in Europe and part of the European Union. It's capital city is Paris, one of the most famous cities in the world, visited by millions of tourists every year. France has played a provincial part in the evolution of the horror film genre and was the principal setting for two of the most important movies of the silent film era; The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Phantom of the Opera, both of which starred the "Man of 1,000 Faces", Lon Chaney. The Hunchback and the Phantom have been re-imagined many times over the years, and with few exceptions, they are almost always set in France. The 1985 film The Bride was shot almost entirely in the French countryside and the cities of Ain, Aude, Carcassonne and Dordogne. France is also the birht place of vampire exploitation director Jea
  • France was founded by Lewis at the start of the game in a desert, with the city of Paris. With his previous experience in Civ, Lewis began to quickly expand with new cities, controlling much of the Eastern half of the continent. He then began a long history of alliance and trade partnership with the city-state of Malacca.
  • France (French: ), officially the French Republic (, ), is a country whose metropolitan territory is located in Western Europe and that also comprises various overseas islands and territories located in other continents. Metropolitan France extends from the Mediterranean Sea to the English Channel and the North Sea, and from the Rhine to the Atlantic Ocean. French people often refer to Metropolitan France as L'Hexagone (The "Hexagon") because of the geometric shape of its territory.
  • The French Republic or France (: République française or France) is a country whose metropolitan territory is located in western Europe, and which is further made up of a collection of overseas islands and territories located in other continents. France is a democracy organised as a unitary semi-presidential republic. It is a developed nation with the fifth-largest economy in the world in 2003. Its main values are expressed in the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen.

  • French Republic, a country of western Europe on the Atlantic Ocean and the English Channel. It was settled by the Franks after the retreat of the Romans, who had conquered Celtic Gaul in 58-51 B.C. Charlemagne made it the center of his Empire of the West after A.D. 800. In the Middle Ages France was split into numerous fiefdoms and kingdoms, most of which were incorporated into the royal domain by the time of Louis XI (reigned 1461-1483). Widespread poverty and discontent led to the French Revolution (1789) and the end of the monarchy. The First Republic (1792-1804) was followed by the First Empire (1804-1815) under Napoleon Bonaparte, a period of constitutional monarchy (1814-1848), and a succession of republics broken by the Second Empire (1852-1870) under Louis Napoleon. • Led by Napoleon Bonaparte himself, the French Empire in 1812 is the most powerful continental state in Europe. Two decades of Revolutionary and Napoleonic warfare have strengthened her huge armies and expanded her borders and spheres of political influence.
  • France is an ancient designation for a virtually worthless plot of land found on the planet Earth. Once a sovereign nation best known for whine and cheese, France was incorporated into the Anglo-American Hegemony that arose at the end of one of the conflicts collectively known as World War III. In fact, neither the Americans nor the British particularly wanted France to become part of their union, but it made economic sense to simply protect the French before they ran like bunnies at the first sign of trouble.

  • France, officially the French Republic (French: République française), is a developed country in western Europe. Paris is the capital of France. In the late eighteenth century, the monarchy and associated institutions were overthrown in the French Revolution, which forever changed France's history. The country was governed for a period as a Republic until the French Empire was declared by Napoleon Bonaparte. Following Napoleon's defeat in the Napoleonic Wars, France went through several further regime changes; being ruled as a monarchy, then briefly as a Second Republic, and then as a Second Empire, until a more lasting French Third Republic was established in 1870.
  • France (English i/ˈfræns/ FRANSS or /ˈfrɑːns/ FRAHNSS; French: [fʁɑ̃s], officially the French Republic (French: République française French pronunciation: [ʁepyblik fʁɑ̃sɛz]), is a unitary semi-presidential republic located mostly in Western Europe, with several overseas regions and territories. Corsica and the French mainland form Metropolitan France; Guadeloupe, Martinique, Réunion, and Mayotte form, with French Guiana, the overseas regions. These two integral groupings, along with several overseas collectivities and one territory, comprise the French Republic.
  • The French Republic was a country in western Europe. It was bordered to the northwest by the English Channel; to the northeast by Belgium, Luxembourg, and Germany; to the east by Switzerland; to the southeast by Italy; and to the south by Spain and Andorra. They had a historical rivalry with Germany.
  • France, officially the French Republic and formerly the Kingdom of France, is a country in Western Europe. France's support in the America Revolutionary War assured the independence of the United States. The financial ruin caused by France's support of America led to Napoleon Bonaparte's rise to power and the end of the Kingdom in 1791. France was briefly a republic and shortly afterward an Empire led by Bonaparte. Bonaparte led an attempt to conquer Europe but was eventually defeated. France briefly went to war with the US in the Quasi War from 1798 to 1800.

  • As France emerged from the Second World War a divided country, President Auriol led a resurgent Popular Front to government yet never really delivered on the terms that he had promised his people, by 1947 it seemed that France was in the grip of revolution as she was tasked with fighting a war in Indochina and across the rest of her colonies. Thanks to a generous donation of Marshall Aid the French Republic was able to diffuse revolutionary sentiment across Algeria thanks to a series of public health and social services programmes that put the nation on the path to progress, given a better position to negotiate the French Republic began to loosen her colonial ties and make way for independence. This is viewed with acceptance as home and the public are assured that all former colonies shall
  • France is the largest state in the European Union by area and the third largest in Europe behind Russia and Ukraine. France has been a major power for many centuries with strong economic, cultural, military and political influence. During the 17th and 18th centuries, France colonized great parts of North America; during the 19th and early 20th centuries, France built the second largest empire of the time, including large portions of North, West and Central Africa, Southeast Asia, and many Pacific islands.

Also, you might want to refer this to the Romans and Hannibal how he faced the Gauls in his journey to attack Rome, especially through the snow mountains.

  • France is a country on the continent of Europe. It's capital is Paris. One of the most iconic images is the Eiffel Tower. Montmartre is a district in the northern part of the Paris. During World War II, the country was taken over by the Nazis. It was filled with searchlights and blimps floated in the skies above. Explosions went off in the air around the tower but it was not damaged. It was eventually liberated by the Allies.

  • France, a.k.a. the French Republic is a sovereign country in Western Europe. Several overseas departments and territories, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Réunion and Mayotte, are also part of France. It is one of only three countries (with Morocco and Spain) to have both Atlantic and Mediterranean coastlines. Due to its shape, it is often referred to in French as l’Hexagone or the Hexagon. The current president of France is the unfortunate 'Socialist' Francois Hollande.
  • Apart from its strong indigenous film tradition, France has also been a gathering spot for artists from across Europe and the world. For this reason, French cinema is sometimes intertwined with the cinema of foreign nations. Directors from nations such as Poland, Argentina, Russia, Austria, and Georgia are prominent in the ranks of French cinema. Conversely, French directors have had prolific and influential careers in other countries.
  • France at the early 20th century, along with its ally Britain have declared war on Germany by invading the German colony Togoland on August 1914, instigating the Great War. France became one of the Allied victors in the Great War, following a ceasefire proposal from Germany on October 1918. France later became a member of the European Trade Organization (ETO) and the United European Defense.

  • France has had fifty years of military and administrative excellence under Louis XIV, the Sun King and his servants. They achieved this in spite of a backdrop of strife and rebellion sparked by France’s involvement in the Thirty Years War. Louis and his able ministers, Cardinals Richelieu and Mazarin, were able to steer France away from the feudal struggles that hampered growth, and they created a centralised government where the King’s power is absolute. In 1700, France is the pre-eminent power in Western Europe, with an unrivalled army, vast colonies and a King who is respected and feared by all, both at home and abroad. Few nations pose any real threat to his well-equipped armies and heavily fortified borders.

  • During the early centuries CE it was a part of the Roman Empire as Gaul. A few centuries later Charlemagne built a large Frankish Empire. Later there was a French kingdom, then there was Napoleon's France. During World War I France was an ally of the United Kingdom and the United States. During World War II France was an ally of the United Kingdom and the United States but was invaded and taken over by Nazi Germany.

  • France has a long-held animosity towards the United Kingdom. France is secretly ruled by a powerful magician known as the Maiden of Versailles. She was thought to have been stripped of power and placed under house arrest by the French government, however this was merely a ruse to fool her enemies. The largest magic cabal in France was the Knights of Orleans, prior to their destruction at the hands of William Orwell. An Academy City cooperative institution was present in France, though it was disbanded after cooperating with a Russian cooperative institution in a failed attempt to destroy Academy City. France is one of the increasing number of countries which have a space program.
  • France is a country in western Europe, and its capital city is Paris. It is famous for its food and the Eiffel Tower, as well as many other things most American people don't know about. Bart visited France in a student exchange program with Adil Hoxha. Homer and Carl Carlson visited Paris on a business trip and the whole Simpson family escaped to France after Bart mistakenly mooned the American flag. Krusty came to France to find Princess Penelope after he left her. The Bouvier family originated from France, and is also implied to be Jacques' country of origin. Lisa represented France in the Model U.N. Club.
France is also the birht place of vampire exploitation director Jean Rollin. Almost of Rollin's films from the 1970s take place in France. France was also the setting of the 1997 horror/comedy An American Werewolf in Paris, itself a sequel to 1981's werewolf revisionist film An American Werewolf in London.

  • France is a country in western Europe. Its capital is Paris. Northern France was the staging ground for the Allied invasion at the end of World War II. The small rural town of Carentan played an important role in these events, when the Five kept the Nazis from using a fire elemental against the Allied invasion fleet. On 8 October 2010, France was threatened by a time dilation field that was expanding from Carentan, but the Sanctuary Network was able to make it disappear just in time.

On August 1921, for reasons unknown France had sent 12 French spies into Russia but only to be discovered and executed without trial. This incident further stagnated Russia's poor relationship with Western Europe and proceeded its policy of isolationism. Following the outbreak of the Chimeran invasion from Russia, France became one of the European countries that fell to the Chimera within two months. Remnants of the UED, including French and other European forces, banded together to form the Maquis, and took shelter in safe zones such as Luxembourg and Reims while resisting the Chimera. During the later events of Operation Overstrike, the combined efforts of Maquis and British forces assaulted Paris, turning the city into a battle ground, allowing British Royal Marines Pvt. James Grayson to infiltrate and infecting the heart of the Chrysalis Lair, causing a halt to Chimeran conversion centers throughout Europe. Following Grayson's battle in the Lair, Major Stephen Cartwright's forces managed to destroy the Paris Tower, with similar results as from the destruction of the London Tower, allowing a temporary end to Chimeran rule in Western Europe.
  • France is a country located in Western Europe and a member of the United Nations. It can be considered a superpower, but not on the scale of the United States or the former Soviet Union. During the Cold War, France participated in the formation of the United Nations Resolution 10.13 (TXF: "E.B.E.").
  • France is a country of Western Europe with a population of about 65,000,000. The country shares terrestrial borders with Spain, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland and Italy; it shares a maritime border with Great Britain.
  • France is a country in western Europe that first appears in the Season Three episode, "Jakovasaurs". Additionally, France is referenced often in the earlier seasons, as many children tease Pip Pirrup, claiming he's from France.
France is bordered by Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Monaco, Andorra, and Spain. Due to its overseas departments, France also shares land borders with Brazil and Suriname (bordering French Guiana), and the Netherlands Antilles (bordering Saint-Martin). France is also linked to the United Kingdom by the Channel Tunnel, which passes underneath the English Channel. The French Republic is a democracy that is organised as a unitary semi-presidential republic. It is a developed country with the sixth-largest economy in the world. Its main ideals are expressed in the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen. France is one of the founding members of the European Union, and has the largest land area of all members. France is also a founding member of the United Nations, and a member of the Francophonie, the G8, and the Latin Union. It is one of the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council wielding veto power, and it is also an acknowledged nuclear power. It is considered as one of the post World War II great powers. France is the most popular international tourist destination in the world, receiving over 75 million foreign tourists annually. The name France originates from the Franks, a Germanic tribe that occupied northern Europe after the fall of the Western Roman Empire. More precisely, the region around Paris, called Île-de-France, was the original French royal demesne.

  • France is actually the inhabited super cheese that went missing at the vegetable competition. Strange garlicy stereotype plants have sprouted forcing the poor surrendurous people to speak a garbled version of scouse - French. France doesn't technically count as a country because no one particularly loves the land and no one has even bothered to measure the lan' using a language. To travel to France, hop on the next frog and speak incoherently.

  • France is a country in Europe. In 1637, it suffered from a historical aberration, during which blaster-armed assassins attempted to kill the royal family, only to be stopped by the Legends, disguised as the Royal Guard Musketeers. In 1944 it was one of the theatres of war during World War II, in which the commune of Saint-Lô became a site of a battle between the United States Army and Nazi forces.

  • As depicted in the manga, the future nation of France is a highly degraded state entity, with smaller territorial boundaries and diminished importance on the world stage. While the political system employed in the 2120s isn't made clear, like today, the country generates meagre revenue through trade with the Middle East, selling weapons and other industrial technology to the Republic of Munma, much to the chagrin of Olympus.

Logan was sent into Paris by the Office of Strategic Services. He met up with Justine Cocteau and Happy Sawyer at the Ferme Bakery. Sawyer ordered him to go to Chateau du Mort to rescue Andre Cocteau. Along the way, Logan met up with Captain America and they saved a young boy from some Nazi soldiers. It was eventually liberated by the Allies. Andre Cocteau and a soldier named Duke were buried in a cemetery that was on a hill overlooking the city. Ernie and two other veterans had gone to see Duke, who had saved their lives. At the same time, Logan went to the cemetery as he had been hunting Cocteau since the war. Justine found him and explained that Andre was actually working for the Allies. Logan, Justine, Ernie, and the veterans all made their way to a nearby bistro.

Metropolitan France extends from the Mediterranean Sea to the English Channel and the North Sea, and from the Rhine River to the Atlantic Ocean. France is the largest state in the European Union by area and the third largest in Europe behind Russia and Ukraine. France has won an additional 94 medals at the Winter Olympic Games, mostly in alpine skiing.
Another element supporting this fact is that Paris has the highest density of cinemas in the world, measured by the number of movie theaters per inhabitant, and that in most "downtown Paris" movie theaters, foreign movies which would be secluded to "art houses" cinemas in other places are shown alongside "mainstream" works. With 206.5 million tickets sold in 2010 and 215.6 million in 2011, France is the third biggest film market in the world both in terms of admissions and revenues. It is the most successful film industry in Europe, with a record breaking 261 films produced in 2010. France is also one of the few countries where non-American productions have the biggest share. Also, the French film industry is closer to being entirely self-sufficient than any other country in Europe, recovering around 80–90% of costs from revenues generated in the domestic market alone.

This is viewed with acceptance as home and the public are assured that all former colonies shall keep close links with France under the ‘French Union’ which asserted a certain level of French military control over France’s former Imperial dependencies and tied these nations to fight with France in case of a major war. Many people in the former French Empire applied for dual French-nationality bringing a multicultural society across France, migrants mainly settled across Marseilles and Paris. In 1947 the Communist Party had organised a series of strikes that were aimed at brining the downfall of the Auriol government, the President took a strong stand against the strikers and put the armed on alert should they have to quell and attempt at revolution, his Prime Minister called for Auriol’s resignation – this was not given. In his Second Term as President he negotiated the French withdrawal from Algeria which became independent in 1956, however serious concessions were made to France by the Algerian government. The safety of French citizens was guaranteed by the Algerian government and the city of Annaba and the surrounding area was retained by the French Republic as a foothold on mainland Africa. This developed into a highly prosperous trading port. The situation in Vietnam was much different as the French were defeated by Vietnamese forces in 1954 and after this the French government had little to do with Indochina. The following years were ones of self-inspection by the French people, social reforms were introduced and the welfare state began to grow. The European Economic Community was also formed in 1948 as a reaction to the state of panic across the Continent it was decided that Marshall Aid alone could not defend the interests of Europe and together with the governments of the Kingdom of Benelux, Andorra, Denmark, Norway Sweden and the various Italian governments (with the exception of the Communist south) the EEC was born brining the economies of European nations closer and closer together, by 1951 Europe had recovered from war and was a stable trading partner again. The Fourth Republic was a symbol of national revival as former Pétainists and Resistance Leaders were involved in a government of unity which began to heal the scars of occupation. When Auriol finally retired in 1962 it was due to exhaustion and personal health issues, his government was often spoken about as doing “too much too soon” and the resulting general election saw Charles De Gaulle finally assume the Presidency.
Franco-phobia is as venerable tradition in Britain as Anglo-phobia is in France. One need not look too closely to see an element of envy in both. Anglo-Saxons envy French sensuality while the French envy British geographical distance from Germany. Americans inherited and added to the British prejudice against France and the French. France is the butt of many jokes in America, but many see France as a good example of how some social democratic domestic policies succeed. Some Anglo-Saxons are offended by the relatively generous social welafare provision in France. They would prefer that family values be a matter of values (now yuo see them now you don't) rather than actual results. The current president of France is the unfortunate 'Socialist' Francois Hollande.

  • France, in modern use, refers to the lands which are ruled by the Franks. Historically, the Franks were still a Germanic people in the Arthurian era and were only beginning to move into Gaul, or had only just done so, depending on when a particular author imagines that an historical Arthur may have lived. To determine what any medieval author of an Arthurian work means by France it is necessary to examine the work. The Prose Lancelot usually uses the name Gaul instead of France. The Prose Tristan begins with a history of Cornwall and Leonois supposedly long before Arthur’s reign, but anachronistically places the historical French Merovignian monarchs ruling from Paris during the same period.
The French Bourbon dynasty is strong, even though Louis XIV is aging. There are sons and relations aplenty, with legitimate claims to many titles. To the south, the lack of a Hapsburg heir in Spain – and the feeble-mindedness of Charles II – means that a Bourbon could one day rule in Madrid. A course of action that brings this about has much to recommend it. Of course, not all offshoots of the Hapsburg line are weak as their Spanish cousins. The Austrian Habsburgs, and other European nations, may not be entirely willing to see a Frenchman or French nominee as King of Spain. No matter. France is surrounded by possibilities, and beyond Europe there are other continents to conquer and colonise: New France in North America, and the riches of India. The untrustworthy British may have to be swept aside or crushed, but what is wrong with that?
  • A country with really good food and outragious accents. France is pretty much the opposite of everything American. Apparantly Linkoleon Linkaparte is from this place.
  • Although ultimately a victor in World Wars I and II, France suffered extensive losses in its empire, wealth, manpower, and rank as a dominant nation-state. Nevertheless, France today is one of the most modern countries in the world and is a leader among European nations. Since 1958, it has constructed a hybrid presidential-parliamentary governing system resistant to the instabilities experienced in earlier more purely parliamentary administrations. In recent years, its reconciliation and cooperation with Germany have proved central to the economic integration of Europe, including the introduction of a common exchange currency, the euro, in January 1999. At present, France is at the forefront of efforts to develop the EU's military capabilities to supplement progress toward an EU foreign policy.

France was the most badass country in Europe untill Adolf Hitler noticed it. He said that Germany is more badass and conquered France. Later UnAmericans and Soviet Russians busted both myths together. Nowadays France is ruled by two people: a mean firelord called Frollo and an awesome dude called Gaston. Most French are idiots who sell stupid tourist crap. Secretly, Mrs. Mellgren was the cause of ALL of these events because she wanted to Francisize the world.

From its shape, it is often referred to in French as l’Hexagone ("The Hexagon"). France is the largest country in Western Europe and the third-largest in Europe as a whole. It possesses the second-largest exclusive economic zone in the world. France has been a major power with strong cultural, economic, military, and political influence in Europe and around the world. France has its main ideals expressed in the 18th-century Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen. From the 17th to the early 20th century, France built the second-largest colonial empire of the time, ruling large portions of first North America and India and then Northwest and Central Africa; Madagascar; Indochina and southeast China; and many Caribbean and Pacific Islands. In 2010, Claire Peacock made plans to move to France for a new life at the suggestion of her mother Yvonne Casey. However her husband Ashley wasn't too keen and went as far as to fake an angina attack to delay the move, although in the end he came round. In December that year however, tragedy struck when Ashley was killed when an explosion inside The Joinery caused a tram to derail and caused severe structural damage. Claire decided to remain in Weatherfield as Ashley's memory was still there, but after inadvertently injuring Tracy Barlow to the extent that she was rendered unconscious, Claire decided that it would be better leave rather than be formally charged with assault. In the New Year, with the help of friends and neighbours, she was able to evade the police and left with children Joshua and Freddie.

The religion of Holy Frenchism was founded in the city of Paris, and spread across the French country. After bringing the religion to the desert city of Venice, Lewis attempted to settle another city right below Venice, thereby sandwiching Duncan between the Shoshone empire, France and the ice. This caused a brief and laughably one-sided war between France and Venice, with France soon annexing Duncan's capital of Sandland.

It was bordered to the northwest by the English Channel; to the northeast by Belgium, Luxembourg, and Germany; to the east by Switzerland; to the southeast by Italy; and to the south by Spain and Andorra. They had a historical rivalry with Germany. Since their famous revolution of 1789, France has switched back and forth between a republican and a monarchic system of government several times. Rebellions or revolts have occurred in 1804, 1814, 1815, 1830, 1832, 1848, and 1851. By the end of the 19th century France was under their third republic, which had been proclaimed in 1871 after Emperor Napoleon III was overthrown following France's disastrous loss in the Franco-Prussian War.

Jean-Luc Picard is allegedly from France, although his speech is remarkably like a 20th century BBC presenter. This apparent anomaly is readily explained when you consider that after centuries of trying, the British finally conquered the French. This Okuda-style conjecture attempts to explain why every single actor cast to play a frog was, in fact, from the United Kingdom. Given how casting someone with even a hint of Frenchiness went, this might have been a good choice.

France has gone through a number of broadcasters that presented Eurovision to the French. From 1956 to 1964, RTF was the French broadcaster. ORTF took over from RTF in 1965, and showed Eurovision until 1973. TF1 took over from ORTF from 1975 to 1981, when they withdrew. Antenne 2 took over from TF1 in 1983 and its current incarnation, France Télévisions, is the current French broadcaster from 1992. With the introduction of the semi-final in 2004, France 4, from 2005 presents the Eurovision Song Contest semi-finals, France 3 have now stopped broadcasting Eurovision as of August 2014 with France 2 continuing to organize a selection for the participant song and present the Eurovision Song Contest final. France is one of the only countries not to have performed the majority of their songs entirely in English, however only 5 entries have been performed partially in that language. 2 songs have been performed either fully or partially in Corsican, 2 partially in Spanish, one fully in Breton, and one partially in Hatian Creole.

During the First World War, France was a member of the Triple Entente along with its allies Russia and the United Kingdom. Following Russia's declaration of war on both the German and Austro-Hungarian empires, France became engulfed by the global conflict that spanned four long years. The French managed to hold the Central Powers at bay along the Western Front with aid from both the British and the eager American fighters who joined the fight in the final years of the war. Ultimately, the allied cause proved victorious and resulted in the collapse of the German, Austro-Hungarian, and Ottoman empires. France was one of the Allied Powers in World War II, but was conquered by Nazi Germany within two months. The Third Republic was dismantled, and most of the country was controlled directly by the Axis Powers while the south was controlled by the collaborationist Vichy government. Since World War II, France has been a leading member in the UN, the European Union, and NATO, and remains a strong economic, cultural, military and political influence in the 21st century.

  • Led by Napoleon Bonaparte himself, the French Empire in 1812 is the most powerful continental state in Europe. Two decades of Revolutionary and Napoleonic warfare have strengthened her huge armies and expanded her borders and spheres of political influence. In 1812 the French armies fight all across the continent - from the mountains of Portugal to the endless steppes of Russia. The French tricolour was already raised over Berlin, and Vienna has been captured - for the first time in the city’s history. All major European nations have already suffered defeats against Bonaparte’s Grande Armée, but the widely stretched French nation is now literally surrounded by the enemies. France will have to battle against the whole of Europe. Again...
