Air Force One Air Force One
rdfs:comment
It was a massive jumbo jet with highly distinctive markings. The jet was dominated by a sky blue undercarriage, which was separated from a darker blue-and-white design by a ribbon of gold and white that ran the length of the plane. The design was set off by the Presidential Seal of Office, as well as the words "United States of America" in a simple, serif font. (TV: The Sound of Drums) Air Force One is the official air traffic control call sign of a United States Air Force aircraft carrying the President of the United States. In common parlance the term refers to those Air Force aircraft specifically designed, built, and used for the purpose of transporting the president. The Presidential aircraft is a prominent symbol of the American presidency and its power. |-| Page 2= Air_GR-Engine1.png|Basement (GR). Air_GR-Engine2.png|Basement (GR). Air Force One is the designation given to any aircraft transporting the President of the United States of America. "Air Force One" is typically used to refer to the two highly modified 747s that normally transport the president (tail numbers 28000 and 29000). It has many rooms on board including a Teleconference Room, a series of toilets as well as a main room for the President himself and also a waiting area for journalists. It also has an Armory that is often locked and can only be accessed via a digital card-key or a normal key. The President's 747 jet plane. To prevent the President's location being known to anyone with a ham radio, the aircraft receives a different 'cover identity' each time it flies, known only to a handful of individuals. In real life, "Air Force One" is the callsign of any United States Air Force craft on which the President of the United States is present. It is not a specific plane, although there is one generally reserved for his or her use. However, neither bionic series makes a specific reference to just what "Air Force One" is. It is unclear whether its usage in the series indicates that the President, too, was on board, or whether Oscar and company are merely using the plane normally designated "Air Force One". Air Force One is the designation given to any airplane used by the President of the United States for transportation purposes, for emergency transport or refuge. Air Force One is the air traffic control call sign of any United States Air Force aircraft carrying the President of the United States. At the time of "Tribulation Force", the new 757 jet airliner was to be Air Force One and was loaned to Nicolae Carpathia by United States President Gerald Fitzhugh to allow him the honor of the first ride to the signing of the seven-year agreement between the Global Community and Israel in Jerusalem. Unfortunately, without the President's knowledge or approval, Nicolae purposely rebranded the new Air Force One as Global Community One, and it became his executive plane until it was destroyed in "Nicolae". It's official: Air Force One is the bestest, most airiest aircraft in America, and therefore in the world. It's so good it's the only plane the leader of the Free World will use. ~ Captain of Air Force One January 9, 2008, somewhere east of Washington D.C. Back in 2005, Air Force One was officially offered to Stephen Colbert for his exclusive use. But he graciously and politely rebuffed their request, so that The Greatest President Ever wouldn't have to travel with all the peasants on Delta or South West Airlines. Air Force One is the radio call name used for any Air Force aircraft that is carrying the President of the United States. It is normally one of two identical, blue, Boeing 747s. Air Force One was the designation given to an aircraft carrying the President of the United States of America. Though specially-modified airplanes are usually used for presidential transport, the designation is applied to any craft the president happens to be on. Air Force One är benämningen på alla flygplan som används av president i USA för transporter, för akut transport eller tillflykt. Air Force One is the President's private jet. It is used to transport the President to country affairs and lots of other things. It was seen in HAWX when the player defends the plane and the president from Artemis fighters. Not the movie- that should go under Air Force One. "Air Force One" is actually the call-sign given to any US Air Force aircraft that the President of the United States currently happens to be onboard. This could range from anything from a T-38 Talon trainer jet (the President would be the back-seater...we hope) to an interstellar battle cruiser. If the Commander-in-Chief is on a civilian flight (which has happened once: Nixon, while President, rode on an ordinary United Air Lines flight), it's "Executive One". "Marine One" for a Marine aircraft, "Navy One" for a naval aircraft, etc. "Marine One" is also the name given to the President's helicopter- we'll discuss that here. The Vice-President has "Air Force Two" and "Marine Two". The squad destroys key Serdaristani military emplacements in the region before running low on fuel, where they find a nearby depot to refuel the helicopter. After finding fuel and holding out while Sweetwater fixes Haggard's mistake when refueling the helicopter, the squad continues on until they are shot down by the Legionnaire in his own Ka-52 helicopter.

n5:abstract
In real life, "Air Force One" is the callsign of any United States Air Force craft on which the President of the United States is present. It is not a specific plane, although there is one generally reserved for his or her use. However, neither bionic series makes a specific reference to just what "Air Force One" is. It is unclear whether its usage in the series indicates that the President, too, was on board, or whether Oscar and company are merely using the plane normally designated "Air Force One". Air Force One is the official air traffic control call sign of a United States Air Force aircraft carrying the President of the United States. In common parlance the term refers to those Air Force aircraft specifically designed, built, and used for the purpose of transporting the president. The Presidential aircraft is a prominent symbol of the American presidency and its power. The idea of designating specific military aircraft to transport the President arose in 1943, when officials of the United States Army Air Forces – the predecessor to the U.S. Air Force – became concerned with relying on commercial airlines to transport the President. A C-87 Liberator Express was reconfigured for use as a presidential transport; however, it was rejected by the Secret Service amid concerns over the aircraft's safety record. A C-54 Skymaster was then converted for presidential use; this aircraft, dubbed the Sacred Cow, transported President Franklin D. Roosevelt to the Yalta Conference in February 1945, and was subsequently used for another two years by President Harry S. Truman. The "Air Force One" call sign was created after a 1953 incident during which a flight carrying President Dwight D. Eisenhower entered the same airspace as a commercial airline flight using the same call sign. Several aircraft have been used as Air Force One since the creation of the presidential fleet, including two Boeing 707s introduced in the 1960s and 1970s, respectively; since 1990, the presidential fleet has consisted of two Boeing VC-25As – specifically configured, highly customized Boeing 747-200B series aircraft. The Air Force is looking into replacing the two VC-25 aircraft with three replacement aircraft beginning in 2017. Air Force One was the designation given to an aircraft carrying the President of the United States of America. Though specially-modified airplanes are usually used for presidential transport, the designation is applied to any craft the president happens to be on. In 1972, Gary Seven and Roberta Lincoln boarded Air Force One while President Richard Nixon was en route to Beijing, China. Lincoln was impressed being aboard the plane, though Seven reminded her that, as a child, she and her parents had been on a commercial airliner that President Dwight D. Eisenhower had also been aboard, meaning she had previously been aboard a flight designated Air Force One. (TOS - Star Trek: Assignment: Earth comic: "Too Many Presidents") It's official: Air Force One is the bestest, most airiest aircraft in America, and therefore in the world. This article is a stub. You can get a Tip of the Hat* from Stephen by adding only truthiness to it.*Tip of the Hat not guaranteed. It has many rooms on board including a Teleconference Room, a series of toilets as well as a main room for the President himself and also a waiting area for journalists. It also has an Armory that is often locked and can only be accessed via a digital card-key or a normal key. Air Force One is the designation given to any airplane used by the President of the United States for transportation purposes, for emergency transport or refuge. Air Force One is the designation given to any aircraft transporting the President of the United States of America. "Air Force One" is typically used to refer to the two highly modified 747s that normally transport the president (tail numbers 28000 and 29000). |-| Page 2= Air_GR-Engine1.png|Basement (GR). Air Force One är benämningen på alla flygplan som används av president i USA för transporter, för akut transport eller tillflykt. The origin of the call-sign "Air Force One" stemmed from a near-disaster. Prior to the Eisenhower presidency, the presidential plane's call-sign was number based. However, during one flight, the call-sign number happened to be identical to a nearby commercial flight's number, leading to much confusion and near mid-air collision. After the incident, the call-sign "Air Force One" was created to be unique to presidential flights. In practice, however, since 1990 Air Force One has been one of two VC-25A aircraft operated by the 1st Airlift Squadron, 89th Airlift Wing. The VC-25A is a heavily modified military version of the Boeing 747-200B, and the current two planes have tail numbers 28000 or 29000. During transport missions where the President or Vice President is not on board, these aircraft use the callsigns "SAM 28000" and "SAM 29000" (short for Special Air Mission). When President Nixon flew back to California after announcing his resignation, the plane was known as "Air Force One," until Gerald Ford was sworn in at noon, then the pilot called air traffic control and said, "Air Force One changing call signs. Air Force One is now SAM 28000." When the aircraft is not carrying passengers (usually for pilot training) it uses the 89th Air Wing call sign "Venus" followed by a flight number. Besides the highly recognizable VC-25As, the President has access to slightly smaller aircraft - at least four C-40Bs (modified Boeing 737, entered service in 2002) and at least four C-32s (modified Boeing 757, entered service in 1998). These normally serve as transport for the Vice President (under the callsign "Air Force Two"), but the President will use them when the VC-25A is not practical - e.g., for shorter trips, or when the destination airport can't handle such a large aircraft. Before that, Air Force One was a Boeing 707; one of these is on display in the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, one is at the National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton, Ohio and another is at the Museum of Flight in Seattle. The VC-25A features medical facilities, a pharmacy and 85 telephones. The President can launch Superior Firepower from here. It has the capacity for 76 passengers and their cargo, but several other aircraft are needed for everyone else that goes with a President on his or her travels. Precise defensive capabilities are classified, but there are almost certainly flares, a vast array of jamming equipment, and the aircraft can survive the EMP of a nuclear explosion. No, it doesn't have an escape capsule. Probably. There are several different ones of these. Most commonly seen are the VH-3A, a version of the Navy's Sikorsky SH-3 Sea King, and the VH-60N, modified from the UH-60 Blackhawk airframe. The plan was to replace these with VH-71 Kestrel choppers (AgustaWestland AW101s, aka the Merlin, as used by the Brits With Battleships), but this plan is currently canceled due to cost over-runs. In addition to the huge cost, politics was involved, as it did not look good to spend such a massive amount of money during a recession. Even with the massive cost over-runs, it appears it will actually cost more to keep the current fleet, due to the costs of maintaining and upgrading the aging fleet. Since the 1980s or 90s, Marine One never flies alone when the President is on board. Three or more identical helicopters play a Shell Game to prevent any assassin from knowing which one has the President on board. This is part of the reason why the planned replacement was so expensive, the plan called for 28 helicopters. Several will be transported with the President when he or she goes abroad. The pilots all have to have Yankee White background checks (the same one required to carry the "nuclear football", which is thought to contain the information needed for the President to launch Superior Firepower and the means to do it - but not the actual codes to allow him or her to do so). * Air Force One of course. * The West Wing * HIVE-Dreadnought shows the plane captured,it is then released to plummet to the sea with the president aboard. * 24- it's shot down in Season 4, by an F-117A Nighthawk. * At the end of Season 5, Jack Bauer hijacks Marine One with President Logan onboard. * The Alex Rider novel Eagle Strike. * NCIS, "Yankee White". * Another episode "Reveille" involves Ari Haswari (yes, that one) planning to shoot down Marine One with George W. Bush and Ariel Sharon on board. * Independence Day, which features the President in both his usual plane and a fighter jet. * The Dale Brown novel "Storming Heaven" Features a terrorist disguising a Boeing 747-200 as Air Force One, with the aim of crashing it into the Capitol Building. It's prevented from doing so by a Heroic Sacrifice, where an F-16 pilot rams the aircraft, although considerable damage is still caused to Washington DC. * In Escape from New York, it is hijacked and the President ejects in the Escape Pod to land in Manhattan. * In Metal Wolf Chaos, the first level has you trying to reach Air Force One... which then takes off from the Washington Monument reflection pool. * Perfect Dark has a mission set aboard Air Force One. Like the movie, it has an escape pod that the real one doesn't. * In Highschool of the Dead, the President is evacuated to Air Force One, but one of the passengers or crew is infected, causing the plane to crash. * Stargate SG-1 features an alternate reality where the Stargate program has been revealed to the world. In this reality, the President uses Prometheus, Earth's first interstellar battleship, as Air Force One. * The airplane is shot down by the Goa'uld in the alternate timeline in the episode "There But For the Grace of God". * The main characters in My Fellow Americans take a brief helicopter ride and refer to the craft as "Marine One". * It makes a brief appearance in the first Transformers movie, when the small Decepticon sneaks aboard and breaks into the computers. It is used to transport the President to country affairs and lots of other things. It was seen in HAWX when the player defends the plane and the president from Artemis fighters. (TV: The Sound of Drums) The President's 747 jet plane. To prevent the President's location being known to anyone with a ham radio, the aircraft receives a different 'cover identity' each time it flies, known only to a handful of individuals. Air Force One is the radio call name used for any Air Force aircraft that is carrying the President of the United States. It is normally one of two identical, blue, Boeing 747s.
