Ilum is the ice planet home to many of the Adegan crystals used in the construction of Jedi lightsabers. The Sith Empire launched an assault on Ilum during the Cold War. The Republic and the Jedi both were unable to launch an effort to retake the planet, and resistance against the Empire on Ilum remains minimal. Ilum missions are offered as a bonus after completing main class quests. The minimum level to start the missions is 47. All missions and enemies are level 50. Ilum is a roleplaying homestead on Second Life, featuring the crystal caves and a small space station. The sims also provide a small area for shopping and inside the space station. The region is designed for players to come and get the LCK kits in the form of crystals that are preset to the type of crystal with an added script for special effects that the crystal is designed to perform according to the SW Universe. It is believed that Kyle Katarn built his Fortress of Solitude on Ilum to escape the stress and torment of the mortal world. Ilum may also have been the base of operations for a Sith cult called the "Iluminati." Originally, it was thought that the Sith invaded Ilum to deny the Jedi of their lightsaber crystals; however, recent evidence has surfaced suggesting the Empire is using the crystals as a power source for a dark and terrifying new weapon that may tip the balance in favor of the Sith. During the years of the Treaty of Coruscant, Ilum became one of the biggest battlefields ever known. Ilum missions are offered as a bonus after completing main class quests. With a Temple established over the entrance to a series of Crystal Caves, Ilum became a place of great importance, as sacred as Ossus and Tython. The Temple served as a shelter and place of ritual for the Jedi who traveled to the planet. To ensure the security of the planet and the crystals, the planet was left off star-charts. One uninterrupted hyperjump from Metellos would deliver a ship into Ilum's orbit, and could only be accomplished by a Force-sensitive. Following Ilum's discovery, the Jedi built temples and enclaves over the years and the world became a destination of pilgrimage for Jedi intending to construct new lightsabers and Jedi Masters seeking a quiet place for intense meditation. Some time before the Cold War, the Sith Empire attacked the planet with a force of Sith and shock troopers, killing the Jedi present there. Although the Jedi Order was devastated by the loss of Ilum, the Galactic Republic lacked the resources for a counter-attack. Intelligence suggested that the Sith operations on the world could have extended beyond the harvest of lightsaber crystals and, due to the amount of local Sith investments, Republic leaders and members of the Jedi High Council suspected that Ilum may have possessed a far more valuable resource. Obi-Wan Kenobi went to Ilum when he was young with his Master, Qui-Gon Jinn, to build one of his first lightsabers. As part of his training, Anakin Skywalker, along with his mentor and friend Kenobi, traveled to Ilum so that Anakin could build his first lightsaber. The two faced multiple challenges in scaling the slopes that lead up to the cave, including running into a nest of Gorgodons. Jedi Initiates would travel to the Crystal Caves for the rite of passage known as The Gathering, where they would undergo mental trials in order to obtain their crystals. During the Clone Wars, Count Dooku sent Chameleon droids to destroy the Crystal Caves on Ilum so the Jedi could not produce lightsabers. While the droids were defeated by Jedi Masters Yoda, Luminara Unduli and Padawan Barriss Offee, the damage inflicted on the caves took over a year to repair. Ilum ist, ähnlich wie Hoth, ein Eisplanet in den Unbekannten Regionen. Er ist überzogen von hohen Gebirgsketten und gewaltigen Gletschern.
