Peter can't hear it, but that's because Knubbin wants this to be so, and Heathcliff asks for one of Red's crumpets. Red gives it to him in exchange for him leading her to the wizard's cottage, where he lives as Knubbin's pet. He obliges, and the next day the same thing happens. The strip's title character is a fat orange cat owned by the Nutmeg family — an elderly woman, her husband, and their grandson Iggy.
