Image:Swooper.gif Swooper is a bat creature that hides in dark places, hanging from the ceiling. They attack by swooping down and suck HP from Mario and his partner (although in the original Paper Mario, they only swoop down and hit him). The only way to get a Swooper from the ceiling is to use a quake attack, use a partner that can fight enemies at high altitude (like Parakarry or Madame Flurrie), or use the throwing hammer badge. Sir Swoop is this type of enemy, although he doesn't appear in enemy battles. In Super Paper Mario they're only found in Gloam Valley and Merlee's basement.

  • Swooper is a dual Dark/Flying-type Pokémon created by Ryushusupercat for Pokémon Solstice and Equinox. It evolves into Swoopula starting at level 18.
  • Ces sortes de tentacules lui servaient à attraper ce qui était au sol. (TAS: "The Infinite Vulcan")
  • Swoopers were approximately fifteen feet long and like most life on Phylos were actually a type of plant. They were capable of flight and had root-like appendages which could be used as limbs. (ST reference: The Worlds of the Federation; TAS episode: "The Infinite Vulcan") At one point in December of 2267, while Helen Latham was yelling at him, Daniel Latham claimed that her shriek was not unlike that of the Phylosian swooper. (TOS novel: The Case of the Colonist's Corpse)
  • In 2269, the crew of the USS Enterprise encountered the creatures, and one of them captured Spock with its root-tentacles and carried him away to be cloned by Stavos Keniclius 5. (TAS: "The Infinite Vulcan")
