  • Threat is the numerical value which measures of a creature's aggression toward a character. It is used to establish a priority ranking of players, which the creature uses to determine whom to fight next in a group. This is referred to as the threat table, and (generally) creatures will attack the player on the top of the their threat table. When a player finds himself in this state (i.e., residing on the top of the table), it is known as having aggro. __TOC__

  • Threat is a measure of an NPC's aggression (often called "aggro") towards a player. Each NPC has a threat table, and the character at the top of the list is usually the target of its aggression. In-game, this is known as having aggro from that particular NPC. The NPC will attack that character if possible, unless another character manages to change the NPC's target. The tanking role usually has to pay particular attention to threat and how to hold it.
  • Threat, also called aggro or hate is a hidden counter that determines how likely a monster is to attack a given player. For each monster, it will decide to attack one player that it is in combat with that has the highest threat. Each player has a separate threat value for each monster they are fighting, which is calculated as a function of the total damage dealt by the player and whatever threat modifiers they used, such as Incite or Provoke.
  • Homeland Security officers defend the nation by smoking pipes and reading foreign newspapers to determine what crimes foreign terror organizations say they are going to commit soon. Unrelated events, such as the existence of an insurgency in Iraq that would blow up U.S. tanks after we pacified the country, are outside the department's mandate.
  • Threat is the method the game uses to determine which player or pet in a party or raid gets targetted by a particular enemy. An enemy will target and attack whomever has generated the most Threat towards that enemy. Each enemy has its own threat which is tracked separately, so each enemy can attack a different target depending on the status of their own threat meters. Aside from movement, almost every action in combat builds up threat against particular monsters (including attacking, healing, and casting buffs or debuffs).
  • See also: React and Template talk:Skill/Stun Mace#Threat modifiers Every action by your character generates some degree of threat (a.k.a. hate) which may trigger the attention of mobs that are nearby. Some aggressive mobs have a low trigger threshold and therefore respond more readily than a more passive mob. A mob's aggression (a.k.a. aggro) is targeted at whichever avatar (or pet) is generating the highest threat. This is a major difference between how AI (artificial intelligence) mobs behave and how another human player would behave.

As Immigration is now under the Homeland Security umbrella, the department considers the possibility that terrorists would walk into the country, rather than arrive on a jet-liner that no one studied how to land. Keeping them out of the country--That department is right down the hall. However, the D.R.E.A.M. act, which would give tuition bargains to foreigners who sneak in, was officially amended to exclude foreigners wearing bombs.

Each enemy has its own threat which is tracked separately, so each enemy can attack a different target depending on the status of their own threat meters. Aside from movement, almost every action in combat builds up threat against particular monsters (including attacking, healing, and casting buffs or debuffs). Live Update #51 added Threat Meters to the game (opened or closed with CTRL + T); under enemies' health and power bars there is now a threat bar showing how much threat you have generated on that target (as a range between 0% and 100%). If you are the enemy's current target, the Threat Window will also show the percentage threat of the second-highest person on the list. Threat values are also in the Combat Log, making tracking threat easier. Prior to this update, threat was tracked internally and was not visible to players other than the examination windows of taunts/detaunts.

A mob's aggression (a.k.a. aggro) is targeted at whichever avatar (or pet) is generating the highest threat. This is a major difference between how AI (artificial intelligence) mobs behave and how another human player would behave. * Exploiting that fundamental cause and effect relationship between threat and aggro is what makes grinding in dungeon parties a little mindless or boring. If the developers ever get the idea to evolve the AI algorithm to also consider which human controlled avatar or pet is the easiest prey to kill off then that might dramatically transform this game. And may kill many healers in no time as well as no pixies around. Your action may be seemingly harmless and yet it presents a threat in the eyes of nearby mobs. Healing yourself or another player is one example. Using a scroll on another player or pet is yet another. Even sitting/standing still generates threat and may trigger a mob to react. Some active skills are specifically designed to raise your threat level. These are provocation skills (a.k.a. crowd control skills) and are extremely useful in a dungeon party to steal mob aggro away from a weaker party member.

Each player has a separate threat value for each monster they are fighting, which is calculated as a function of the total damage dealt by the player and whatever threat modifiers they used, such as Incite or Provoke. Because threat is derived from damage dealt, a quick way to approximate threat values is to compare damage dealt between teammates. However, this is easily thrown off if anyone has used abilities that affect threat generation.

  • Threat is a value kept by each enemy NPC for each player it has entered combat with. Enemies will aggro on the highest player (or enemy NPC) on their Threat list. Debuff Mod: This is a value created by the Devs to represent the fact that Mobs don't like being debuffed. Values range between 1 and 2, but on most powers, the value is a 2. This means that with two attacks that cause the same damage, but one has a debuff and the other doesn't, the one with the debuff will generate up to twice as much threat. AT Mod: This is the value assigned to each AT, described in the table below. AI Mod: This is a value that is unique to each Mob type. We do not know many value for this variable, but we know that they, in theory, could have a very large range of values. Range Mod: In general, attacks in melee have a higher modifier. However, we know very few specifics about this value. TauntDurationRemaining: Pretty self-explanatory. This is the remaining duration of any Taunt or Taunt-like effects the character has on the enemy.
