He went by a number of aliases, including Randolph Scott, Errol Flynn, Jimmy Stewart, Henry Fonda, Joel McCrea, Hugh O’Brian, Burt Lancaster, James Garner, Kurt Russell, and Kevin Costner.

In the battle of the OK Corral, the Earps, along with Doc Holliday, confronted Ike and Billy Clanton, Frank and Tom McLowery, and Billy Claiborne, leading to the most famous gunfight in the history of the Wild West. - In 2268, the Melkot recreated Earp and Tombstone to punish Captain James T. Kirk, Mr. Spock, Doctor Leonard McCoy, and Montgomery Scott for trespassing on their planet. Spock figured out that the recreation was not real, and the landing party could not be harmed if they believed they would not be harmed. Spock used a Vulcan mind meld to keep the others from experiencing harm, thus the recreation of Earp and his associates were unable to harm the landing party. Kirk refused to kill the recreation of Earp, and impressed the Melkot, who invited the USS Enterprise crew to visit their planet. (TOS episode: "Spectre of the Gun")

In 2268, the Melkot created a replica of Wyatt Earp as part of a bizarre, inaccurate depiction of the events leading to the gunfight. This illusion was intended to lead to the execution of Captain James T. Kirk and his landing party, who were placed in the roles of the Clantons, the McLaurys, and Claiborne - three of whom were killed in the gunfight. Kirk and crew were able to outsmart their would-be killers, and Kirk's non-violent resolution persuaded the Melkot to open diplomatic relations with the Federation. (TOS: "Spectre of the Gun" ) Wyatt Earp was played by actor Ron Soble.

Earp lived a restless life. He was at different times in his life a constable, city policeman, county sheriff, Deputy U.S. Marshal, teamster, buffalo hunter, bouncer, saloon-keeper, gambler, brothel owner, pimp, miner, and boxing referee. Partly due to an exaggerated biography published in 1934, Wyatt Earp's image has become the prototype of the Western lawman, symbol of American frontier justice.
