  • The Earth is now a home to evil forces. The Void Armada has conqered the planet and have enslaved humanity. Now, the last student of a fallen master must create a chance for humanity's future, with the most unlikly of heros.
  • The Paladins are woken up by the Castle’s alarms blaring in a test. Coran and Allura are tuning the castle after 10,000 years of disuse. While they’re busy, Team Voltron is assigned the job of being able to consistently form Voltron. They try flying in formation and stacking on top of each other in vain. Allura, helping, switches on the Castle’s automatic defenses and they spend an unidentified amount of time under a nerve-wracking, stressful attack. Meanwhile, Haggar hints at a plan she has in motion involving an old enemy of Shiro’s. Coran decides to change tactics and suggests the paladins try out the training deck against small drones, then a blindfolded trust dive with their lions. Shiro alone bonds well enough with his Lion to successfully complete the exercise. Back inside, Coran explains that the Paladins of Voltron must have an open mind and no secrets with one another. The first time they try melding their minds together, Hunk roots around in Pidge’s head and breaks Keith’s concentration. The second time, Pidge is too distracted to focus and gives up in frustration. Shiro agrees to take a break, only for Allura to angrily send them to the training deck again - this time against a training robot. They are quickly defeated. After a long day of difficult, failed tests, the paladins settle down to eat - with their wrist cuffs magnetized to one another. Tensions rise between Paladins and Alteans until a full-blown food fight erupts. Allura congratulates them on working together and they leave dinner to form Voltron.

  • Keorga is a haven for artists and musicians, a place of contemplation and artistic appreciation. When their request for a planet-running computer is denied by Starfleet, they go elsewhere; unfortunately, the instruction manual is in a language they cannot understand. A team from the U.S.S. da Vinci is brought in to help them, but soon they realize there's more to this than a simple translation problem. The computer seems to be running a test -- one that the Keorgans are failing! If the S.C.E. team can't get the information they need out of the recalcitrant Keorgans and figure out how to stop the rampaging computer, Keorga may well lie in ruins!

Seppa, a young child, comes crying to the Prime Wife in the household, Dratha. It seems all of the human toys are broken, and Seppa is overly worried that she will be blamed for breaking them. Trinning, an elder half-brother, brings a box over and confirms that, while the toys are made from sturdy wood, they are all broken into bits. Dratha puts in a call. Captain Jonathan Archer explains that he did not select the toys but, rather, his First officer, Malcolm Reed, did so. Reed, smiling, explains that the toys are jigsaw puzzles and they are supposed to be that way. The pieces have gotten mixed up among the three boxes, and so the degree of difficulty has risen dramatically. The family will need to work together in order to complete the images. Reed also explains that the images are of the Big Ben clock in London, Starfleet Command in San Francisco with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background and the third is a picture of the Cochrane itself. A few days later, at their holiday party, Archer, Reed and Hoshi Sato open the Daranaeans' gift, a large serving platter on which the entire extended family signed their names. Sato translates the aliens' message, which reads, "We have a new saying on Daranaea: When human friends come, happiness is sure to follow." The family has further informed them that a portrait has been commissioned to be done of Dratha and then cut into pieces so that they can assemble it as another puzzle. There is also a press photograph enclosed, of the Daranaean Provisional Alpha, Elemus, placing the last piece into one of the puzzles.
