  • Charles Martinet was born on September 15th 1955 in San Jose, California. In 1994, he attended an audition to voice Mario. Martinet had little knowledge of Mario, and so went along with it. Mario was not referred by his name, and was called by the directors as a plumber from Brooklyn. With motion capture equipment hooked to his face, he began talking. At first, Martinet thought of a deep raspy voice, but then thought that this voice would not suit to young children, and so talked in a higher-pitched friendly voice, which later became Mario's voice. Martinet later used the deep raspy voice as Wario's voice. When the directors said they might call him back. Martinet thought that meant he did not get the part, but was surprised when they did call him. In 1995, Martinet debuted in his first game as Mario in Mario's FUNdamentals for the PC, but the game was not well-recieved. In 1996, Martinet voiced Mario in Super Mario 64, which was a universal success. This made Martinet more prominent. He then became voice actors for Luigi, then Wario, then a new character called Waluigi. Martinet became famous for his voice roles, and has been famous in video game conventions. Martinet usually releases awaited Mario games, which make the fans more anticipated. The creator of Mario, Shigeru Miyamoto thinks Martinet is a sensation that is a result why people play the games.
