abstract
  • Alrond was a planet in the Andorian system, and the site of an Andorian colony. It had a sizeable Arkenite population. (ENT - Rise of the Federation novel: Live by the Code) In 2163, after the election of Lecheb sh'Makesh as colonial governor, Alrond declared itself the seat of the Andorian Empire-in-exile in defiance of Andorian membership in the United Federation of Planets. (ENT - Rise of the Federation novel: A Choice of Futures). In 2165 things came to a head when a radical group called the Keepers of the Throne began killing members of the Arkenite population in retaliation for Arken II's admission into the Federation. The still new Starfleet were forced to intervene, sh'Makesh was forced from power and the Keepers defeated, the new governor then renewed Alrond's commitment to the Andorian Empire and the United Federation of Planets. (ENT - Rise of the Federation novel: Live by the Code) Alrond was destroyed by the Borg during the Borg Invasion of 2381, and 422 survivors were taken by the transport ship Kovlessa to Cestus III. (ST novel: A Singular Destiny)
