  • Crewman (dt.
  • Crewman (also known as Crewman First Class) is the third-lowest enlisted rank in Starfleet, ranking above a Crewman Apprentice and below a Petty Officer Third Class. Crewman is the highest Starfleet enlisted rank not to be considered a non-commissioned officer.
  • Crewman is the third enlisted rank of the UNSC Navy, equal in rank to Lance Corporal in the UNSC Marine Corps, Airman First Class in the UNSC Air Force, and Private First Class in the UNSC Army. It is the highest non-NCO enlisted rank in the Navy, directly below Petty Officer Third Class and directly above Crewman Apprentice.
  • Crewman refers to the lowest three enlisted rates of the Federation Starfleet, followed by the Petty Officer ranks. The rank is higher than a Crewman Apprentice and lower than a Petty Officer Third Class. It is the third enlisted rank. Personnel having this rank are referred to simply as Crewman.
  • Crewman, Seaman, or any of many other variations on the same theme, is a common rank in many of the Standard-speaking universe's navies.
  • Crewman (also known as crewman first class) is the third-lowest enlisted rank in Starfleet, ranking above a crewman apprentice and below a petty officer third class. Crewman is the highest Starfleet enlisted rank not to be considered a non-commissioned officer.
  • Crewman is a generic term for a crew member of an aircraft, naval vessel, military unit, or team of professionals attempting to accomplish a goal. In some science fiction (most notably Star Trek), Crewman is the lowest military rank on board a spacecraft, analogous to seaman in many real world navies. The term "Crewman" may also be related in the non-gender specific form as "crewperson" or "crewmember".
  • Crewmen will have access to better ships, including runabouts, and smaller ships capable of supporting a bridge crew.
  • Crewman is an enlisted rank used by Starfleet and the United States Navy. It may be divided into several more classes such as: crewman, first class; crewman, second class; and crewman, third class.
  • Crewman (or Crewwoman, or Crewperson) was an enlisted rank in Starfleet.
  • Crewman (dt.

  • Crewman is a skill, described in Basic Set, p. 185. There are separate skills for different classes of vessel: Airshipman, Seamanship, Spacer, and Submarine. GURPS Low Tech™, p. 10, adds the new version Oarsman. Seamanship is referenced in GURPS Dungeon Fantasy 2: Dungeons™, p. 5, on getting to a dungeon. Spacer is referenced in GURPS Space, p. 226, on its appropriateness as a background skill.
  • Thought not only a rank, the term "crewman" on many occasions was used as a generic term used to refer to any member of a crew, as was the case of Vina, an individual who was listed on the SS Columbia expedition as "an adult crewman" in 2236. (TOS: "The Cage" ) This was especially true of numerous Starfleet crewmen, who, regardless of rank, officers and enlisted personnel alike, were referred to as "crewman". (TOS: "Catspaw" ; VOY: "Equinox, Part II"; et al.)

(TOS: "The Cage" ) This was especially true of numerous Starfleet crewmen, who, regardless of rank, officers and enlisted personnel alike, were referred to as "crewman". (TOS: "Catspaw" ; VOY: "Equinox, Part II"; et al.) In both the 22nd century Earth Starfleet and the later 24th century Federation equivalent, the rank of crewman was further broken down into several classes: crewman, 1st class, crewman, 2nd class and crewman, 3rd class. (ENT: "Singularity", "The Crossing", "Regeneration"; TNG: "The Drumhead" ) During the late 23rd century, a Starfleet crewman may have also been rated as an able seaman. (Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan–Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country) In addition, the similar rating of able crewman was used during the 22nd century aboard civilian merchant ships, such as those operating under the Earth Cargo Authority. After his less-than-impressive dealings with the Nausicaans in 2151, First Officer Matthew Ryan of the freighter ECS Fortunate was demoted to able crewman in order to have to earn back Captain Keene's trust. (ENT: "Fortunate Son") In 2151, Commander Trip Tucker threatened Lieutenant Malcolm Reed that he was going to "bust your ass back to crewman, second class for insubordination," though Reed countered, "Be my guest. I could use a little less responsibility." (ENT: "Shuttlepod One") Two years later, Captain Jonathan Archer gave Reed the same warning, heeding that, "If I were the kind of captain you think I should be I'd bust your ass back to crewman," following Reed's critique of Archer's command style. (ENT: "Minefield") When Q abducted Captain Jean-Luc Picard in 2365, and described his desire to join the crew of the USS Enterprise-D, he expressed being "Ready and willing. Able to serve..." Picard interrupted him, inquiring, "What would you do? Would you start as an ordinary crewman?" (TNG: "Q Who" )
