Door Necrovarus werd de Ectofuntus geb ouwd dat een magische barrière maakte rondt om de stad waardoor Drakan en de vampieren de stad niet konden betreden. Echter zat er een bijeffect aan deze barrière waardoor alle inwoners in de stad overleden en geesten werden omdat ze niet naar het hiernamaals konden. In feite was dit het ware plan van Necrovarus en was de reden waarom hij de Ectofuntus bouwde. Hij wilde met de Ectofuntus de krachten van de overledenen gebruik en voor kwade bedoelingen maar zelf bleek hij ook zijn gestorven aan onbekende redenen en ook bleef zijn geest hangen in Gielinor.
