  • Guardian of Forever
rdfs:comment
  • The Guardian is a nexus of temporal and transdimensional energies created in the appearance of a great archway. However while in most universes it appears as an arch within some dimensions it appears as an humanoid figure creating the possibility that the "Guardians" are in reality a species that can manipulate their own appearance at will.
  • The Andorians had their own name for it: the T'Sh'Iar, which meant "God's Window." (SNW short story: "Orphans") The planet that the Guardian of Forever is located on has different names in different books. This may be due to the fact the existence of the Guardian is a highly classified secret, and so the planet doesn't have an official designation. The Last Unicorn RPG module: All Our Yesterdays: The Time Travel Sourcebook claims the Guardian was created eight billion years ago.
  • The Guardian of Forever is a special encounter in Fallout 2. The Guardian is a giant, ancient-looking time portal which allows the Chosen One to travel back in time before the start of Fallout to break the water chip in Vault 13. After having broken the water chip, a notice reads "the vault has maybe 100-150 days left of water. This comforts you for some reason." In the Vault, you can browse only the Overseer's command center. Although linear, it provides palpable benefits to the player character. Loot includes Mentats and a unique energy weapon, the Solar Scorcher.
  • Apparently an inert formation of a quasi-metallic substance, the Guardian is neither machine nor being, describing itself as "my own beginning, and my own ending." It has the ability to create portals to other times, which can be watched or traveled through. At one point, historians theorized that the Guardian might have been an artifact of the Slaver Empire, but it was found to predate the Slavers. (Federation News Service 2:1: "Multi-'Dimensional' Technology")
