  • Flesh golem is a type of monster in ADOM. They are the weakest of the golems, and do not have any special abilities. The PC can get a flesh golem slave from the Malicious doctor for 25,000 gold.
  • Flesh Golems are made out of fresh corpses. Flesh Golems have a human head and a body formed of layer upon layer of human flesh. They tend to leave trails of blood behind them when they are walking. Flesh Golems are usually kept in solid chains so that they won't attack the ones who created them. When the golem is fighting, chunks of meat are chopped off every time someone hits it.

  • A flesh golem has two attacks, both deal 2d8 physical damage. They are resistant to fire, cold, electricity, sleep and poison, and the corpse can grant any of those when eaten. Zapping a flesh golem with a bolt of lightning will heal it (the encyclopedia entry suggests that this is an allusion to the story of Frankenstein). As with other golems, turning it to stone will change it into a (live) stone golem.

  • It was on a dreary night of November that I beheld the accomplishment of my toils. With an anxiety that almost amounted to agony, I collected the instruments of life around me, that I might infuse a spark of being into the lifeless thing that lay at my feet. It was already one in the morning; the rain pattered dismally against the panes, and my candle was nearly burnt out, when, by the glimmer of the half-extinguished light, I saw the dull yellow eye of the creature open; it breathed hard, and a convulsive motion agitated its limbs. - V.F
  • Flesh Golems are magical constructs created by mages. They are immune to normal weapons but can be harmed with any weapon of +1 or greater enchantment. Their morale is harder to break than most enemies in Baldur's Gate and they are immune to cold, electricity, magic, and backstab. They have a very low THAC0 as compared to other enemies in the game and may prove a challenge to low or intermediate level parties (Level 1-4). However, they are susceptible to poison in Baldur's Gate and Bolt of Biting works very well. It appears that they have been given immunity to poison in the Enhanced Edition.
  • A living being made of living beings. A trope pretty heavily influenced by Frankenstein's Monster is nonetheless quite distinct from the former in that, while Frankenstein's Monster usually has a human-like appearance, sans Uncanny Valley and various body parts belonging to different people, a Flesh Golem does not look normal in the slightest. Can also be a Hybrid Monster if its parts belong to living beings of different species. See also The Worm That Walks for creatures made of live insects. How can I describe my emotions at this catastrophe, or how delineate the wretch whom with such infinite pains and care I had endeavoured to form? His limbs were in proportion, and I had selected his features as beautiful. Beautiful!--Great God! His yellow skin scarcely covered the work of muscles and arteries beneath; his hair was of a lustrous black, and flowing; his teeth of a pearly whiteness; but these luxuriances only formed a more horrid contrast with his watery eyes, that seemed almost of the same colour as the dun white sockets in which they were set, his shrivelled complexion and straight black lips. - V.F

Though they may seem formidable to the inexperienced adventurer, they are in fact the weakest of all golems and mostly appear in Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition because the characters in Baldur's Gate II are too powerful. In Baldur's Gate they can be found in High Hedge, in a cave in the Lighthouse area, and in Durlag's Tower. In the Enhanced Edition they are summoned by Baeloth in the final battle in the Black Pits I after Ghlouralk has been killed. In Baldur's Gate II there is a manual that can summon a flesh golem once per day to fight for the summoner. Two flesh golems are also found at the De'Arnise Keep in a secret room on the uppermost level.

If this creature is even vaguely human-like, it may look like a nightmare version of conjoined twins, or it is a hulking abomination made of various parts of human flesh, sometimes skinless, often possessing extra limbs, organs and heads where they really shouldn't belong. Unlike Frankie expies, which tend to be of human-like intelligence or slightly below average, Flesh Golems don't usually have any intelligence to speak of - despite being made of human beings they are essentially robots only capable of obeying simple commands. And that's if it's even capable of moving on its own. It may be a mass of human bodies fused together without any specific shape or form - and every single member of it tends to be alive and conscious. This version, possibly inspired by Bosch's paintings, is a recurring theme in Religious Horror: the lustful are fused together, resembling a some kind of a twisted orgy. Can also be a Hybrid Monster if its parts belong to living beings of different species. See also The Worm That Walks for creatures made of live insects.
