rdfs:comment
  • This is the order of battle for the Battle of Delville Wood fought from 14 July – 3 September 1916, one of the engagements of the Battle of the Somme. It was fought between British forces and the German Empire in the Somme River valley in northern France. The battle was the debut of the South African 1st Infantry Brigade on the Western Front, which captured Delville Wood and held it from 15–19 July. The casualties of the brigade were similar to those of many British brigades on 1 July. Delville Wood is well preserved with the remains of trenches, a museum and monument to the South African Brigade.
