Fingolfin Fingolfin Fingolfin Fingolfin
rdfs:comment
Elben, Valinor Fingolfin (? ED – 456 PE) – elf Noldor z rodu Finwëgo, jego drugi syn, zrodzony z Indis z plemienia Vanyarów. Rodzony brat Finarfina i przyrodni Fëanora. Mąż Anairë, ojciec Fingona, Turgona i Aredheli. Fingolfin was the second son of Finwë and brother to Fëanor and Finarfin. He was rather more level-headed than his older brother and often advised his father to think twice before acting on Fëanor's advice. This eventually angered Fëanor to the point where he threatened Fingolfin with a sword in public, thus causing the older brother's exile. During that time, Fingolfin ruled in place of his father. Eventually, however, he was reconciled with Fëanor and promised to follow his lead. This promise led to his involvement in the first Kinslaying, and his exile from Valinor. Fingolfin was the second High King of the Ñoldor in Beleriand, the Ñoldor being one of the three branches of Elves. He was the eldest son of Finwë and Indis, younger brother of Findis, older brother of Irimë and Finarfin, and the younger half-brother of Fëanor. He founded the House of Fingolfin, which ruled the Ñoldor in Middle-earth. His wife was Anairë and his children were Fingon, Turgon, Aredhel, and Argon. Fingolfin was said to be the strongest, most steadfast, and most valiant of Finwë's sons, although this is contradicted by other statements naming Feanor as the strongest Elf of all time. thumb|174px|Fingolfin reitet nach Angband um Morgoth herauszufordernFingolfin war der zweite Sohn Finwes, der älteste Halbbruder Feanors. und der dritte Hohe König der Noldor. Sein anderer Bruder war Finarfin. A great Noldo prince, Fingolfin (S."Finwe wise as Finwe") was the second son of Finwe; his mother was Indis. Although the strongest, most valiant of all the Noldo warriors, his temperate response to an insult and attack by Feanor displayed an exceptional wisdom, perceptivity, and ability to forgive. He was given the High Kingship by Maedhros after the death of Feanor. Fingolfin was a great tactician: perceiving the infinite strength of Angband against assault upon his arrival in Endor, he laid the foundation for the defensive Elvish siege line. His deployment contained Morgoth for more than 400 years. Fingolfin's finish is the stuff of legends and song; he died in single combat against Morgoth—the greatest champion of good against the greatest force of evil. It came to pass after the Dagor Fingolfin fu chiamato dal padre Ñolofinwë, che in Quenya significa "Finwë il Saggio" dall'unione del nome Finwë alla parola ngolod (saggio). Dalla madre Indis ricevette invece il nome di Arakáno che nella lingua dei Noldor significa "Grande Capo". Fingolfin è la traslitterazione Sindarin del suo nome.

n13:abstract
After Fëanor's death, his son Maedhros chose to refuse the title of High King of the Noldor and passed it to Fingolfin, who kept it until his death in the Dagor Bragollach. He was eventually killed in battle with Morgoth in front of the gates of Thangorodrim, Morgoth's fortress, but not before he had given the former Vala several fairly substantial injuries (such as cutting off his foot). Fingolfin was the father of three children (four in later writings): Fingon, who succeeded his father as High King of the Noldor; Turgon, who later became the king of Gondolin; and Aredhel Ar-Feiniel, the White Lady of the Noldor. A third brother, Argon, was killed in an early battle with Orcs and didn't make the cut of the published Silm. Elben, Valinor A great Noldo prince, Fingolfin (S."Finwe wise as Finwe") was the second son of Finwe; his mother was Indis. It came to pass after the Dagor Bragollach forced the High King to retreat with all his forces. He perceived the defeat of the Noldor on every front and understood fully the irresistible and unbreakable might of Morgoth's hoardes. In a rage of despair, he charged alone across the burning plains of Ard-galen to the very gates of Angband. There Fingolfin challenged the Black Enemy to single combat. Though there could only be one result from such a battle (his own death), he avoided the earthshaking assaults of the deadly mace Grond long enough to wound his Vala foe no less than seven times. Fingolfin had the gaze of eagles, a natural hero among heroes, with a shrewd tactical mind and unrivaled gifts of leadership. He was blonde like the Vanyar, extremely tall (7'7"), and possessed of a muscular physique. Fingolfin (? ED – 456 PE) – elf Noldor z rodu Finwëgo, jego drugi syn, zrodzony z Indis z plemienia Vanyarów. Rodzony brat Finarfina i przyrodni Fëanora. Mąż Anairë, ojciec Fingona, Turgona i Aredheli.
