Among his movie credentials are It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming, Viva Max!, the Miramax version of The Thief and the Cobbler, Alice Through the Looking Glass (1985), The Smurfs (2011) and The Smurfs 2.
- Jonathan Winters is the brother of Ruth Winters. Just before Christmas 2009 he reconnected with Ruth, supposedly clean from drugs, but their happiness was cut short when she discovered that he was stealing from her.

Winters died nine days after recording his dialogue for The Smurfs 2; the film was dedicated in his memory.
