  • Homeworld: Tatooine Description: Few have ever seen the ugliness that lies beneath a Jawa mask. Jawa faces are obscured by a cloud of insects that gather in the recesses of their hoods, attracted by their foul odors. Their particular stench is a combination of poor hygiene and a mysterious solution into which Jawas dip their clothes to retain moisture. To Jawas, the odor is packed with information about each other, such as clan lineage, health, emotional state, even the last meal eaten. Jawas have evolved several important survival traits, such as exceptional night vision, a strong immune system, and an efficient digestive system that draws all the needed nutrients from the Jawa staple diet of hubba gourd. Jawas have long been scavengers, as the Dune Sea provides a bounty of refuse. It is littered with derelict spacecraft wreckage from millennia of star travel. The Jawas have built homes and tools from these ancient scraps, and travel the dunes in sandcrawlers, cast-off mobile smelters from failed outlander mining attempts. Jawas live in familial clans, each with distinct territories for living and scavenging. While half the clan is crammed into the warren-like compartments of a sandcrawler, scouring the deserts for usable salvage, the other half resides within a thick-walled fortress. These desert homes were built to protect the Jawas from Sand People or roaming krayt dragons. A chief leads each clan. Jawa leadership is usually conferred upon males -- females are viewed upon as second-class citizens at best, property at worst. The few females afforded respect in Jawa culture are the shamans. A Jawa becomes a shaman when she is overcome by an illness accompanied by a hallucinatory vision. Depending on the outcome of the vision, and indeed if the Jawa survives the illness, she is usually decreed a shaman, and her words are given the respect that such wisdom dictates. Once a year, the scattered Jawa clans gather for the great swap meet. Here, numerous sandcrawlers converge and the Jawas meet to exchange salvage. Marriages are arranged and Jawa children and females are exchanged among clans.

Jméno dílny vzniklo složením jména kováře, který se začal zajímat o motory s dvěma kolečkama Františka Jamajčíka, který zakoupil licenci na tunění dvoukolek Wanderfahrrad. V současnosti se dílna oficiálně nazývá Jawa Moto spol. s r.o. a stojí po několika požárech v Týnci nad Sázavou. Dále existuje firma JAWA Děsivov a.s., která se zabývá montováním pískodrážních hybridů a sídlí v Děsivově. Jawa za svou existenci uvedla na trh desítky modelů nejrůznějších takzvaných zweiräder vyráběných ve vězeňských dílnách v Praze na Pankráci, v roce 1931 byla odkoupena zastaralá kovárna v Týnci nad Sázavou. V letech 1963 až 1964 v době centralizace byla nucena Jawa opustit své moderní provozy na Pankráci a v Michelsckých pekárnách a začít využívat motorárnu ČZ ve Strakonicích.

He invited a local club of called the "Dehyrates" to the ranch while Descon, a science fiction conference, is going on. Spurs invited them over for a visit. Spurs informs Hank they will be in costume and will arrive in a plane made up to look like a spaceship. When a rocket lands nearby, Hank naturally assumes it's the FENS. Instead, it is the Neptunian, Jawa is an Artopod from Neptune, leading a small force of scouts to prepare for an invasion. Jawa tells Hank to turn off the beam that lead them to Earth. The beam is the locator Spurs uses to return in his rocket. While obliging Jawa, Hank also turns on an alarm to the local Army base. Soon, the Army sends out soldiers in a Jeep to attack the Neptunians. The soldiers hold their fire so as not to injure Hank, but the Neptunians blast the soldiers with their pistols, demolishing the Jeep. The military sends a flame-throwing armored vehicle, sending the Neptunians fleeing. Their craft sends a light beam at the vehicle, which causes it to disappear. The ray also strikes an attacking Mustang fighter plane, causing it to burst into flames. When the Descon group shows up, Jawa permits it to land. Hank thinks he must warn them about what is going on. He rushes to the plane, but Jawa tells his cohorts to let him go, and then they will take the plane's occupants and Hank prisoner all at once. When the science fiction fans alight in costume, their plane is instantly destroyed by the Artopods. Hank explains quickly what is going on. The "Dehyrates" fires sprayguns at the Artopods, causing them to retreat and fly away in their spaceship. Hank radios Spurs, who is just returning to Earth. Spurs sees the ship, having Strong Bow blow it up with a well-placed shot. Back on Earth, one of the "Dehyrates" talks to Spurs; "Hi Spurs! Come join our Fanference and we'll tell you how we Bammed the BEMS!" Spurs explains to Hank that Fanference is a Fan Conference and B.E.M.s is an acronym for 'Bugged Eyed Monsters'. The red-headed Hyrate explains they needed ray guns for their costumes, and knowing how bad the mosquitoes were at the ranch, they took spray guns filled with insecticide instead. They figured Artopods was just another term for insects, so they used the spray on the Neptunians. To great effect.
