  • One achieves this iron self-control over his sexuality by periodically seeking out hookers and strangling them, thus sublimating his desire for sexual variety with the aid of violence. "Substituting violence for sex is the key to romantic happiness," says One, nodding sagely to the youth who came to his house seeking his wisdom whilst eating One's food and rummaging through One's things, before picking up a coatstand and buggering the young boy to death with the large end.

After the European success of the previous album, E.S.P., the Gibb brothers began to work in the One album in early 1988. The album had a little impact in the market. Other singles from the album included "One" and "Tokyo Nights". Despiting the success of the single "One" in the US, the album only peaked at #6

  • This story's theme is Booze Me Up and Get Me High by Ween. The door swung shut behind Yamcha. The bar was dimly lit, smoky, and the air smelled distinctly of damp wood. Yamcha slumped over to the barstool, before pulling out a stool and seating himself on it. “One shot of whiskey,” he called out, gesturing to the lone bartender. “That’ll be 510 zeni,” the bartender told Yamcha, who took out his wallet. As he pulled out the money, he noticed a small wallet photo of Bulma. He grabbed the picture along with the money, taking both out of the fold in his wallet. “No! Leave! You don’t belong here!”

  • ONE (ワン, Wan) is easily one of, if not the single mightiest, most powerful, and supreme being in the entire universe. An ethereal entity which has existed for billions of years, watching over and guarding planet earth, ONE is a benevolent, celestial and godlike being whom selects human beings to embody tiny portions of his power so as to ensure the survival of the human species and the prosperity of mankind and planet earth. His power is said only to appear in chosen avatars, who are completely incapable of evil, lending his strength in times of great evil.

  • In a hospital room in 2219 Stark, a young woman named Zoë Castillo is lying in bed, unconscious, while her father Gabriel Castillo watches over her. In voiceover Zoë says that every story has a beginning and an end; sometimes they can be one and the same. She introduces herself, apologises for her pallor, which is due to her coma, and says that she is trying to reach out. Everyone who knows the truth is missing or dead, but if she can get through to anyone, maybe "something can be done". Zoë begins telling her story, and the narrative jumps two weeks into the past. Image:ZoeGabriel.jpg In her home in Casablanca, Zoë is watching her Screen, which is running a news article about the Static, a phenomenon which has recently started affecting electronic systems. As she watches, the programme suddenly changes to a strange winter landscape with a black house. A little girl whispers Zoë's name, and says "Find her... save her..." before the screen goes back to normal. Zoë thinks it is some sort of viral ad, but is distracted by her ringing mobile. She's late for her martial arts lesson at the gym. After checking her schedule with her Watilla, Wonkers, Zoë goes downstairs and meets her father in the kitchen, who is getting ready to leave on a business trip to Bombay. From their conversation, we learn that Zoë has recently dropped out of a bioneering degree at Cape Town University and moved back home, having suddenly lost both faith in herself and her direction in life. Zoë tells her father she's planning a small 'soiree' once he's gone. Gabriel teases that she's never needed his permission before. Zoë heads to the gym, but runs into her hacker friend Olivia DeMarco on the way, who has a cool mobile cloaking program to show her. After a lesson with her trainer Jama Mbaye - who laments Zoë's lack of commitment to her martial arts - Zoë lets her download it onto her mobile, but confesses to Liv that she is starting to get concerned about this 'viral ad' that seems to be appearing on every Screen she looks at... even Screens that weren't turned on. Now the little girl is whispering "Find April... save April..." but Liv puts it down to too much Screen time on Zoë's part. Happily, Zoë soon has something to distract her - a phone call from her journalist ex-boyfriend, Reza Temiz, who asks to meet her at Moca Loco. When Zoë arrives, he is just getting off the phone with someone named 'Rio'. He apologises for being unable to make the party Zoë has planned because he's swamped with work. In fact, that's what he wanted to see her about. He asks if Zoë can go to the Seshadri Building, to the offices of a company called JIVA, and pick up a package from a 'Helena Chang'. It's part of a big story he's working on. Zoë agrees, and calls a cab to take her downtown. File:Rio Kuroki image.jpg When Zoë arrives at the JIVA offices, she speaks to the receptionist... or so she thinks. The woman seems distracted and keeps telling Zoë to come back later. Suddenly the Screen behind her comes to life and - unnoticed by the 'receptionist', Sela - shows an Asian woman locked behind glass, banging on it and apparently yelling for help. Zoë can either fight Sela or trick her into a storeroom and lock her in, then uses the console to get into JIVA's corridors. She sees the Asian woman locked in a lab airlock, and a man, Kano, fiddling with the controls. He runs past Zoë, who rushes to free the victim via manual release before the gas in the lab leaks through to her. Outside, the woman introduces herself as Helena Chang, and thanks Zoë for her help - though she does seem surprised by Zoë's surname. After some convincing, she hands over Reza's package, but leaves before Zoë can ask any other questions. Fuming, Zoë heads back to find Reza and get some answers. Zoë can open the package if she wants - there is a small data cube inside. When she arrives at Reza's apartment, Zoë is alarmed to see that the door is open, and... a mysterious tabby cat is wandering around. Inside, she discovers the body of a woman, about Zoë's age, with a strange device next to her head. As she backs off, Reza's Screen comes to life, with the little girl whispering to Zoë again. The image then changes to show EYE commandos entering the building. Before she can escape, the commandos find Zoë in Reza's living room, and use their weapons to 'boom' her, knocking her out. • In a hotel room, Soichiro Yagami and the other four remaining members of the Kira Task Force meet the world's greatest detective, L, who appears as a dishevelled young man wearing casual clothes and who sits in an awkward, hunched way. They introduce themselves by name only for L to fire an imaginary gun at them! He reminds them that Kira needs to know the name and face of his victim in order to commit murder. How he can kill from a distance is still unknown but the fact that it happens means that they have to be more cautious. L also advices them to avoid taking notes and to address him with a false name. Matsuda suggests that they could limit the deaths by requesting that the media avoids showing the details of criminals in crime reports. L, however, says that that would be a risky move. When Kira killed Lind L. Tailor, L announced that this had narrowed Kira's whereabouts to the Kanto region of Japan. Kira then started focusing his killings in Japan and the Kanto region in particular as if in a show of defiance. If they stop broadcasting the details of criminals then Kira might start killing innocent people instead on the grounds that they are blocking his attempts to purge the world of crime. L describes Kira as very much like himself: They are both childish and hate to lose! On the other hand, L suggests that they announce that the USA is now sending 1500 investigators to hunt for Kira in response to the killing of the twelve FBI agents. This will unnerve Kira who will start seeing enemies everywhere, whereas in fact only a handful of men are on his trail. L now shares his most recent deductions. Shortly after the twelve FBI agents entered Japan, Kira carried out some tests on criminals before killing them. L sent the agents there because he knew that Kira was getting information from the Japanese police and wanted to know the source. Once Kira knew that he was under surveillance, he tested his powers in order to find out if he could manipulate the agent who was watching him. Kira then used this agent in order to obtain a file with the details of all the FBI men, but took the precaution of having it sent to all of them in order to cover his tracks. Kira usually kills hardened career criminals but in the week preceding the deaths of the agents he killed twenty-three minor crooks or mere suspects. That was probably in order to cover for criminals used and killed while identifying the agents. In conclusion, they have to find out who was under surveillance during the five days that cover the arrival of the agents in Japan to the tests carried out by Kira; and any links between the agents and the twenty-three crooks killed in the week prior to their deaths. L admits that showing his face to the others is a victory for Kira since he has never had to do it before. The deaths of the FBI men has also been a major blow. However, he is determined to win the war with Kira. His deductions, the narrowing of the suspects and his determination to win boosts the morale of the other detectives and they get to work with renewed vigour. L then requests a private meeting with each of them just in order to ensure that none of them are Kira. Most are somewhat shaken by this, but Soichiro insists that they go along with it as a precaution. L feels that he is making progress. All he needs now is the one clue that will lead him to Kira. At home, Light Yagami has himself been thinking through the days from when he was first shadowed by Raye Penber. If he left just one clue behind then he is finished. Meanwhile, Penber's fiancée is convinced that it was no coincidence that he was on the bus hijacked by Kiichiro Osoreda who was subsequently killed when hit by a car. She believes that Kira himself was on the bus and can kill by means other than heart attacks. She makes her way to the headquarters of the Japanese police.

  • "One" is a song by the American heavy metal band Metallica. It was released as the fourth and final single from their fourth album ...And Justice for All. "One" was also the band's first Top 40 hit single, peaking at #35 on the Billboard Hot 100. It is one of their most popular songs and has remained a permanent live staple since the release of the album, making this the most played song from the album ...And Justice for All. Like "Fade to Black", "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)", "Nothing Else Matters", " The Unforgiven"' and "The Day That Never Comes", the song starts off slow and clean, but as the song goes on, becomes heavier and faster, leading up to a tapping solo by Kirk Hammett, and a dual guitar solo by Kirk Hammett and James Hetfield. Despite being a big hit on the Billboard Hot 100 and the music video receiving heavy airplay on MTV, the song itself received very little to no radio airplay, due to its "violent" lyrics and length of over seven minutes

The bartender got out a small cup. He fetched a bottle of whiskey, unscrewing the top and tilting it over and letting the liquid rush out of the bottle. He stopped when the cup was full, before screwing the lid back onto the bottle and putting it away. After putting a small toothpick into the glass, he brought the whiskey over to Yamcha. “That’ll be 510 zeni,” the bartender told Yamcha, who took out his wallet. As he pulled out the money, he noticed a small wallet photo of Bulma. He grabbed the picture along with the money, taking both out of the fold in his wallet. Handing the money over to the bartender, he quietly asked, “You guys have a trashcan?” The bartender took the zeni and pointed over to a corner of the room, where a dustbin lie. He took the small photo and dropped it into the bin, watching it float down to the hole and into the trash. He put his wallet away and moved back to his stool. Sitting down, he swirled the whiskey around with the toothpick. Glumly, Yamcha stared into his one murky reflection in the whiskey. He noticed that his hair had grown longer and that the origins of a beard were forming on his chin. His scars had not started to heal yet, which was of no surprise to Yamcha. As he swirled the whiskey again, his image disappeared, mixing into a blur of yellow and black colors. Turning his head to the left, he saw a man physically dominating a girl. He had her backed up against a wall, leering over her. He was a large man, very muscular, and clearly was about to engage in some less than savory acts with the girl. Yamcha’s instincts took over, as his heroism came immediately to the forefront. He stood up and walked over to them, before calling out, “Come on, man, let up on the girl. Nobody needs that.” The man turned over to Yamcha, smirking a little bit. “Yeah, go bother someone else, big guy. I’m in the middle of something,” he scoffed. “Come on, just let the girl go and we won’t have any trouble.” “What’s that? You wanna fight? Come at me, big guy. I’ve got time for you.” Yamcha sighed. He didn’t want to have to use violence against this guy, but he would do what he had to do. It wouldn’t be his first bar fight. He used to get into them quite often, getting into tussles before he was even old enough to drink. He and Puar would go around, stealing from people and scrapping with all sorts of folks. This was just another fight, just another scuffle. Faster than anyone in the bar could see, Yamcha pinned the big man to the wall, causing a large dent in the wall. This would have been enough to stop the man – he had a genuine look of terror on his face – but Yamcha was angry. Maybe not at the man, but he was angry and dissatisfied. He needed an outlet, he needed to go off on someone, and this was the man who had been asking for it. Yamcha raised his fist, mostly out of muscle memory, and laid a right hook across the man’s cheek. He crashed down to the floor, blood leaking out of his cheek. It took Yamcha a moment to realize what he had done. He bent over, checking the man’s vital signs. There were none. That was all it took – one hit, one moment of indecision, one second of weakness, and a man was dead. Yamcha knew this before coming to the bar, he knew that a single bad decision could take a life. Why he kept trying to be a part of this society, he didn’t know. He knew that he couldn’t fit into the world of normal humans. Looking around the bar, he noticed that all eyes were on him. Yamcha didn’t have much time to think about the morality of what he had just done – he wasn’t concentrating on the present and he wasn’t thinking much. He walked back over to the barstool. Swiftly, he grabbed his whiskey and drank it down. The bartender was on the phone behind the counter, presumably calling the police. Yamcha wasn’t too concerned about them. He waited for the bartender to finish his call. “Was that the police?” Yamcha calmly asked. The bartender had started crouching behind the counter. “Yea – yeah! Get out of here!” Yamcha calmly nodded. “Can you fix me another whiskey?” “No! Leave! You don’t belong here!” This line made Yamcha particularly angry. He walked away, back to the door. He kicked the door open, causing it to fly off its hinges. Looking around himself, he saw that he was alone. Silently wondering where the nearest desert was, Yamcha leaped off the ground. He took flight, and he started flying to the north. Yamcha soon found the ground again. As his feet made contact, small puffs of sand came up into the air. He looked around, seeing an oasis to the left of him and more sand to the right. The stars were more visible here than they were in the city, and they all shone brilliantly in the dark sky. For a moment, Yamcha thought he saw the moon, but it was only a mirage. His memory of the moon was only a relic of the past, a faint image of what once was. Well, what was Yamcha supposed to do? He couldn’t train with the Z Fighters – they were too much for him. He couldn’t live with the other humans – they weren’t enough for him. He had traveled to King Kai’s planet, fought against the Saiyans, seen the murder of Frieza and King Cold. There wasn’t much left in normal society to interest him. He was just a bug, a predator, in the normal world. Maybe he could go back to being a bandit, stealing from clueless travelers in the desert. He had never felt unsatisfied back then, he had never felt anything less than happy back when he had done that. How was it possible that seeing so much more had left him so much less fulfilled? “All right, Puar, I guess we should find our old base.” The only response Yamcha received was one, single gust of wind.
  • One is the leader of The Rippers and the main antagonist in the webcomic Namesake. He was presumably the first namesake to desert it all: Calliope, the tale he was put in charge of, and his name. One has pale skin, blonde hair and wears a suit. The protagonist, Emma Crewe, has already caught his eye as a notable threat. Once he met her, he told her to address him by "Uncle Henry", an uncommon practice amongst Rippers, as they are forbidden to be addressed by name. It is later revealed that Emma is but a ghost, born from the taken name of she who once was the real Emma Crewe, and is now under his control, forever sleeping without any dreams or illusions.
"You see? There'll be no matrimonial disputes in this house, not while I can maintain my psychopathic zeal for the destruction of innocent young boys," smiled One, as he wiped the young lad's blood from his brow and proceeded to drag the battered corpse into the courtyard of his elegant but discreetly located Victorian house. A glint in his eye and a spring in his step, he turned to Two; "Be a love, dear, and get my spade". Skipping to the toolshed, Two returned with the biggest spade her dainty hands could carry, and because their love for each other was so strong, they buried that young chap under the plum tree, and walked into the sunset, their hands holding each other's digits.
  • One is the Bee Gees' sixteenth studio album, released in April 1989 (in the United States the release was delayed, coming out in August of the same year). After the European success of the previous album, E.S.P., the Gibb brothers began to work in the One album in early 1988. In March, brother Andy suddenly died and the Bee Gees took a break until August when they returned to the studio to complete the album. The style of One was more melancholic than E.S.P., and heavily influenced by the loss of their brother. The first single from the album, "Ordinary Lives", dedicated to Andy, was an example of that. The album had a little impact in the market. Other singles from the album included "One" and "Tokyo Nights". Despiting the success of the single "One" in the US, the album only peaked at #68 there. In the UK reached #29, selling better in Germany and Switzerland, hitting the Top 10 in both countries. As of 2006, One sold approximately 1 million copies worldwide.
  • One is a third person shooter style video game released for the Play Station way back in 1997. Developed by Visual Concepts (The guys who did plenty of sports games, including Sega 2K), and published by ASC games. One follows the story of a John Cain, an amnesiac with no prior memories, wakes up with a fancy gun arm, and a rude awakening courtesy of a police helicopter launching a missile directly into Cain's room. Gameplay mechanics are fairly simple: Smash everything from enemies, to the environment in order to build up more health and firepower. Both fire power and hit points are demonstrated by the color of Cain's health bar to the bottom right of the screen. It goes from Green, to Yellow, to Red, and finally becomes the most powerful Blue/silver pulse, which can be released as a screen clearing smart bomb. Besides the level up/health mechanic, there's definitely plenty of explosions to keep you busy, as well as some of the trickiest platforming for this style of game. If anything, there's at times, too many explosions, often times obscuring the screen juuuust enough to make jumping difficult. While definitely a fun, but challenging game, it is a game very few have heard of, and attempting to try and find footage on YouTube is especially difficult, given the very common name of "One". Go ahead. give it a try. We'll wait. In any event, it is a very well done game for it's time, and has been available on the Playstation Network as of March 18th, 2010. Contains examples of: * Arm Cannon - Cain wakes up with one of these. * Bottomless Magazines - At least for Cain's main gun. * Easy Amnesia - Cain wakes up without any pior memories as to how he got the nifty gun arm, or why the police are after him. * Pistol-Whipping - Part of Cain's melee attacks. * Stuff Blowing Up - Take this, crack it up to 11, and tear the knob OFF. The freakin' INTRO has Cain starting off with a bang as a police chopper sends a missle straight into his apartment. * Smart Bomb - If Cain manages to destroy enough stuff without getting hit, Cain gains one of these. * Throw-Away Guns - Any OTHER guns Cain finds.
