Because civilians hold almost no responsibilities within the land of Sahrani, they are the recommended class for new players who wish to orient themselves with the game.
  • A civilian, according to international humanitarian law, is a person who is not a member of his or her country's armed forces. The term is also often used colloquially to refer to people who are not members of a particular profession or occupation, especially by law enforcement agencies, which often use rank structures similar to those of military units. Often, the military's main purpose and occupation is to defend the civilians from invaders. However, many civilians, such as Dr. Catherine Halsey were involved with the military.
  • Civilian is a generic term for an individual without combat training, employed in a role that does not involve combat. That is not to say that civilian occupations do not have dangerous abilities. The term is most commonly used by the military. The generic civilian class rarely appears, as non-combatants are usually classified by specific classes. Civilians appear in Red Alert 2: New World Order, where

The Citizen class most commonly takes the form of adults and children, although in certain titles, the Child class appears separately.

  • A Civilian is a pilot who flies for a corporation as opposed to a criminal faction or a house. They have their own set of weaponry and the largest lineup of ships in the game. • Civilian is a ancient term for a non-military person or activity. It implies a clear distinction between the two categories, which is more useful and easily observed in theory than in space. As Captain Liobar once observed, "When you're busy dodging Hellhounds, the difference between civilian and military doesn't seem to matter as much." As far as the Federation is concerned, civilian seems to mean "a cheaper, low-performance version of military grade hardware (e.g., Civilian Radar Jammer) that we are willing to let you buy without a ."
  • Civilian is the Title that every player starts out with. It has no prerequisites.
  • There are multiple ways of dealing with civilians: for one, the player has an arsenal of non-lethal weaponry, more so in The Omega Strain rather than in any other game. Acceptable equipment for civilian combat includes the various tasers; the Stun Jack baton; the air pistol, DormaGen gas grenades and riot shotgun. However, the player must be careful where they aim, for headshots can kill even with such weapons, and prolonged exposure to the electric volt delivered by tasers can prove lethal. In some cases, they can be killed by enemies, but the player must avoid using lethal force.
  • Players can sell regular, overgrown, wily and lazy cats to civilians for 100 death runes each, or 200 after completing the easy Ardougne Tasks. Note that talking to them with a cat in your inventory and proceeding through the dialogue will mean losing your cat PERMANENTLY, you cannot get it back, although you can buy a replacement from Gertrude. Note that they will not accept kittens or the Witch's cat from the Underground Pass.
  • Civilians are the hapless human inhabitants of Planet Earth, who just want to live out their daily life, preferably without their homes, cars, neighbours or body being destroyed by alien invaders. They appear in all games of the series, mostly as pedestrians or motorists, and come in both genders and various ages, ethnicities, classes and appearances.
  • A civilian (aka civies or civs) was a type of NPC that would garner a Dishonorable Kill ("DK") if killed during PvP combat. The civilian status would appear in their description when the pointer was moved over them. Many complaints had been raised since their existence due to the fact that it almost completely destroyed town/city raiding; one Dishonorable Kill could destroy weeks of work for a high ranked players. However, it has been announced that in patch 1.12, World PvP objectives will be released.
  • Civilians are people that are too lazy, too stupid, or too high to join or be drafted even into the marines (wow). They live in big cities on planets nobody cares about except the UNSC. They drive worse than marines (again, wow) and are usually the covenant's first targets. In fact, the covenant doesn't consider them a threat at all, so they just capture them and use them for target practice, which is against the Geneva convention, but who really listens to that anyways? However all UNSC personel, even SPARTANs, were civilians at some point, so it is unfair to call them all lame. Another reason is that they can actually use a gravity hammer without killing themselves. Still, they can't fight

The civilian status would appear in their description when the pointer was moved over them. Their names would also have a white background when targeted. The number of civilians one killed would affect one's rank. Many complaints had been raised since their existence due to the fact that it almost completely destroyed town/city raiding; one Dishonorable Kill could destroy weeks of work for high ranking players.
  • Civilans are people who have not performed any type of Federal Service. Civilians lack many of the rights that Citizens have, such as the right to vote and government-sponsored free education. When requesting a license to have a child, civilians often find that it is more difficult to obtain one. Many wealthy families do not need to become Citizens as they are able to pay for many things that the government provides free, and can live in comfort without it.

Another reason is that they can actually use a gravity hammer without killing themselves. Still, they can't fight worth a crap but still use military grade weapons in a futile attempt to kill the covenant. All civilians answer to the UEG, which means they pay excessive taxes to fund useless wars, work at dead end jobs, and have to listen to useless polititians and Glenn Beck rant on fox news every night (I pity them).
Crypto can do anything he wishes to them, and can read their minds, copy their bodies, scare them away or kill or maim them in a variety of ways. Other enemies are seen attacking civilians as well, mostly as a punishment for trespassing (in the case of soldiers) but sometimes on sight (like with Black Ninjas, other aliens and in some missions the KGB). While most civilians only panic and try the run away upon seeing Crypto or something threatening, there are exceptions. The hillbilly farmers in the first game, while counted by the game as civilians, do fire their guns at Crypto, but go down extremely easily.
