  • To escape. To run away. Hence the saying, "to do a runner".
  • The Runners are monsters appearing in ObsCure II, generated by the genetic mutation of the Mortifilia.
  • Runner is an Occupation normally listed under Other Crew. If the credits directly indicate it, then it might also be listed under Special Effects, Makeup Department or Visual Effects.
  • The Runner is a Xenomorph based strain, known primarily for it's low key appearance, and shallow ranks within the Hive Hierarchy.
  • Runner is a skill that can be given to a lemming in Lemmings 2: The Tribes. A Runner sprints across the ground, traveling much faster than a walker. If it reaches the edge, it will jump slightly rather than just falling, unless it is also a Slider, in which case it will slide down. The Runner is a permanent skill - once assigned to a lemming, it has that skill for the rest of the level.
  • A runner was a type of modified shuttlecraft generally used on the planet Phantas 61. Initially used to distribute mined resources from that planet to other locations around the Norvel star system, a number of runners were later converted by members of the group Taru Bolivar with heavier defensive and weapons capabilities. The runners were also equipped with low-power tractor beams. In 2376, members of the Taru Bolivar, along with several crew members from the USS da Vinci, used a fleet of eight runners to deflect a missile armed with a biological weapon away from Phantas 61, and ultimately toward the system's sun. • Runner(s) is usually referred to a mob(s) that is escaping from a battle engagement (usually from you and/or from your teammates) because it is either low in health points or feared. Usually, you do not want runners (especially in instances) because they call other nearby mobs for assistance. To prevent runners, players try to finish the mobs with low health points as quickly as possible or to snare/stun/root them long enough to kill them before they call for more help. The warlock spell Curse of Recklessness prevents a mob from running, as does the paladin with Judgement of Justice.
(ATL: "Runner", "Sateda", "Tracker")

  • The Runner, also known as the Dog Alien or Ox Alien, is an adult form of the species Xenomorph XX121 spawned from a quadrupedal host animal (such as a dog). Runners, as their name implies, are fast and agile, and can spit acid from their mouths. Runners have variously been portrayed as being slightly larger and slightly smaller than typical human-spawned Aliens, differences that no doubt derive from the animal that hosted the creature. However, the Runner in Alien3 is around 7 feet 5 inches tall when standing on its hind legs.
  • Runners are seen in the Animatrix short Matriculated. They are a type of advanced Machine scout/patrol unit capable of multiple transformation modes. Runners are so named after their function to run over ground instead of the typical hovering that most of the Machines use, since they have no capability to hover and are bound to the ground with their movements. They are even able to swim and mostly appear in pairs.
  • The Dwarfholds of the Worlds Edge Mountains are connected with each other by miles of tunnels. Communications between holds is carried out by means of Runners - specially-trained young Dwarfs who risk life and limb to carry messages from one hold to another. Over recent centuries, as more Dwarfholds have fallen to the goblinoids, the Runner's lot has become increasingly harder. They are forced to take more and more circuitous routes and even these are fraught with danger as the goblinoids discover the tunnels. Often, Runners have to leave the tunnels altogether and cross the mountains and valleys on the surface.
  • Runners are an illegal underground courier group who operate independently from The City and the City of Glass's legal security and surveillance measures. As such, they are a popular option of transport for private and sensitive documents and such across the city, being able to completely avoid the intrusion of the City regime.

  • Runners are an illegal underground courier group who operate independently from The City and the City of Glass's legal security and surveillance measures. As such, they are a popular option of transport for private and sensitive documents and such across the city, being able to completely avoid the intrusion of the City regime. To perform their jobs each runner is taught the art of Parkour, in which participants use the urban and rural areas to perform efficient movements through structures. Runners are adept at moving quickly, vaulting, sliding, and other movements. By making use of parkour, Runners are able to spend most of their time on rooftops or within urban structures and use the environment to escape from opposition such as the City Protection Force. If the Runner is unable to escape they are also trained in a variety of street martial arts to compliment their parkour skills. Some are also knowledgeable in gun and weapon use.

Runners are so named after their function to run over ground instead of the typical hovering that most of the Machines use, since they have no capability to hover and are bound to the ground with their movements. They are even able to swim and mostly appear in pairs. Runners are able to transform to adapt to the needs of the specific situation and environment. For instance, a Runner is able to transform from "a tentacled insectoid that walks on four spider-like legs" to "a form resembling a humanoid that slides along with its head tentacles and uses its legs as arms tipped with huge claws". Runners are equipped for close combat with these claws, but when they are facing a larger group of targets or spot rebels they can drop off a tracking beacon that alerts the nearest Machines and retreat, leaving the dirty work to the more powerful Sentinels. Alexa, a member of a small band of rebels on the surface, leads two Runners to their base so they can be converted to the side of humans. One Runner is killed by their guard robot, but the other Runner kills the guard. Alexa then blasts the Runner with a plasma rifle. They then plug the Runner into their dreamscape where the Rebels attempt to convert the runner to their side. It is during this reprogramming that the Sentinels attack the base. When it finally reacts, everyone and everything is dead except for Alexa who was knocked out. The Runner hooks her and itself into the dreamscape, where Alexa panics and dies.
