- The Martian Manhunter is a superhero from DC comics and a regular member of the Justice League - he is one of the last surviving Martians and has taken on the role as a hero on earth due to his affinity for the planet, disguising himself as a human due to knowing that humans will fear his alien appearance. - Before the invasion of Mars by the Imperium, J'onn lived a normal life with his wife, My'ria'h, and his two children. After that invasion, J'onn took part in the war, and was a member of the strike team that launched his people's final, desperate offensive. J'onn succeeded in releasing the nerve gas that placed the invaders in suspended animation. As the last surviving member of the strike team, and of the entire Martian race, J'onn then sealed the invaders' underground headquarters to keep them paralyzed, and stood guard over it for 500 years.
J'onn J'onzz' natural Martian form
While J'onn was in a hibernation cycle, astronauts from Earth, including J. Allen Carter, accidentally revived the invaders. He managed to escape Mars and came to Earth to warn humanity of the Imperium. Once on Earth, he was captured by Imperium forces posing as members of the U.S. military.
After the Imperium began their invasion of Earth, J'onn reached out telepathically to several heroes on Earth: Superman, John Stewart, Hawkgirl, Wonder Woman and Flash.
Superman and Batman, having already encountered the Invaders, freed J'onn, and were joined by the other heroes he had contacted. Banding together, the newly-formed team managed to destroy the Imperium. Mindful of future threats, Superman proposed the formation of the Justice League. J'onn was initially hesitant, but Superman assured him that he didn't have to be alone anymore.

- John Jones is a super-powered alien from the planet Mars, who is working as a homicide detective for the Metropolis Police Department. Before that, he worked as an intergalatic bounty hunter known as Martian Manhunter for Jor-El of Krypton, trapping and imprisoning criminals from the 28 known galaxies. When Jor-El died, John Jones had promised to watch over his son Kal-El in order to make sure that he fulfilled his destiny; apparently, he has been watching Clark from a distance since Jonathan and Martha found him.
He is also apparently the last surviving member of an alien civilization that once existed on Mars.
John Jones made the ultimate sacrifice in the fall of 2008 saving Kal-El's life again by flying him into the sun and giving up his own powers to restore Kal-El's and now works as a homicide detective for the Metropolis Police Department due to his powers being taken away by fire radiation.
John's powers were recently returned to him by Doctor Fate who transported him to Mars, sacrificing his own life in the process at the hand of the villainous Icicle.

They lived in peace and harmony .... until they came up the great plague. J'onn J'onzz was separated from the rest of his race when the earth scientist, Saul Erdel, created a machine, which he said could reach the ends of the universe, to see if there was intelligent life. But he rarely could cause your machine to work. Until one day in 50 years, his invention worked.To his surprise, the machine carried a Martian male with a small child's body (Mars) in the arms. He was J'onn J'onzz, and telepathically communicated with Erdel. After J'onzz regain their health, Erdel was ready to send it back home d `. But J'onn did not. He was devastated by the plague that struck Mars, wiping out his people, and the death of his daughter. Everything `J onzz wanted was to preserve from further suffering. In this state, Erdel used his telepathic link with Ajax to give a new identity for the alien. In a suggestion Erdel, J'onn tried to forget the heartbreak of his past, and live a new life among humans. J'onn wanted to make Earth their new home. After teaching your language to J'onn, Erdel staged his own death, to force J'onzz to go live your own life among humans. J'onzz adopted the TV as a great source of information. After seeing the numerous cases of police (on TV), he decided to fight for justice. Using his telepathic powers, Ajax created a new life with the past (in the minds of others). He had even gone to school and university. He was now John Jones. He became a detective in the fight against crime in Gotham City. But it can never forget your past. For nearly a decade, he lived among humans with this name, and life. He rarely uses his true form. Only when facing opponents who had more power. In 1968, as J'onn, he faked his own death in order to protect his true personality. Assumed the identity of Marco Xavier, faced threats and more powerful. When he returned from Mars, Ajax no longer had internal conflicts. He no longer was afraid of her past. So much so that when the LJI dissolved, he considered the possibility of returning to their home planet. Until he was again invited to rejoin the task force of the Justice League. Martian Manhunter has a wide variety of superhuman powers, many of which are similar to those of Superman and Wonder Woman, including super strength, super speed, invulnerability and flight. As Superman, Martian Manhunter also has "Martian vision" (a term that means both the ability to see through solid objects and the ability to generate optical power and heat).Superman once called "the most powerful being on earth." During the 1990s, it was stated that the origin of your flight and "Martian vision" is a form of telekinesis (he was occasionally demonstrated more traditional uses telekinesis to levitate and animate objects during his Detective Comics and House of Mystery Appearances). J'onn desperately tried to keep his wife and daughter from using their mental gifts, but they were unable and so, contracted the plague. K'hym was the first to experience the symptoms, and M'yri'ah followed soon after. J'onn was anguished as he watched his family burning to death before his very eyes. The trauma of the event shattered his psyche, and nearly drove him mad.
