  • The Gamecube was a videogame system that was released by Nintendo. While no Smurf videogames have been specifically planned for this system, the Gameboy Player accessory made for it allows the use of original Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance games on the system, so the Smurf videogames made for those systems can be played on the Gamecube.
  • Before being released in Japan, the GameCube's codename was project Dolphin. Due to this, some of the console's games have a reference to the codename, via an illustration or just a name. In Pikmin 1's case, it is the name of the ship, the S.S. Dolphin.
  • The Nintendo GameCube (initially Project Dolphin and commonly abbreviated GCN) is Nintendo's fourth home video game console, belonging to the sixth-generation era. The GameCube itself was the most compact and least expensive of the sixth generation era consoles. The GameCube was released in 2001, and was the first console to have a modern wireless controller, the WaveBird, available as an add-on. In late 2006, it was succeeded by the Wii, which is backward compatible with GameCube games, controllers, memory cards, and some accessories.
  • Nintendo GameCubes come in a variety of colors, including Indigo, Platinum, Jet Black, and Spice. They are 4.3 inches high, 5.9 inches wide, and 6.3 inches thick. Nintendo GameCubes were the first Nintendo console to use discs instead of cartridges, though the discs it uses are smaller than the DVD-sized discs the Xbox and PlayStation 2 used. Because of this, GameCubes cannot play DVDs or audio CDs. Through a partnership with Panasonic, a DVD-playing GameCube called the Panasonic Q was made.
  • The Nintendo GameCube (codenamed Dolphin) is Nintendo's fourth system and the successor to the Nintendo 64. It competed in the Sixth generation of video games with the Playstation 2 and Xbox. It was succeeded by the Wii. The console had a lifetime of 5½ years from when it was first released in 2001 until Nintendo ceased production in February 2007.[1] Nintendo had initially expected to sell 50 million GameCubes by 2005.

It was released in 2001, as the successor to the Nintendo 64, but it was discontinued in 2007, but still had compatibility on the new console, the Nintendo Wii. The games for the GameCube will also be downloadable on the Nintendo Wii's successor, the Wii U. It is regarded as Nintendo's most underrated console, undergoing the "fourth-console curse". Two months later, on May 12, 1999, Nintendo of America's former chairman Howard Lincoln officially announced the console, which would be codenamed "Dolphin". Nintendo remained quiet for over a year about "Dolphin," preferring to focus on the Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Color at E3 2000. It wasn't until August 24, 2000, a day before Spaceworld 2000, that the company officially unveiled the GameCube, the end result of the "Dolphin" project.
  • The Nintendo GameCube (ニンテンドーゲームキューブ Nintendō Gēmukyūbu?), often abbreviated as GCN, is Nintendo's fourth home video game console and is part of the sixth generation console era. The hardware system is the most compact, and second-cheapest after Sega's Dreamcast, of the sixth generation. It is the successor to the Nintendo 64/64DD and the predecessor to the Nintendo Wii. The console was released on September 14, 2001 in Japan; November 18, 2001 in North America; May 3, 2002 in Europe; and May 17, 2002 in Australia. The GameCube marks the first (and so far the only) time Nintendo came in third during a console gen, with only 21.74 million units sold worldwide, putting it just a couple million behind the original Xbox.
  • The Nintendo GameCube (officially abbreviated as GCN), Nintendo's entry into the sixth generation of the Console Wars, was released in late 2001. It marked Nintendo's shift from cartridges to optical discs in response to third parties being driven away by the Nintendo 64's continued use of cartridges, using miniature proprietary discs. The graphical capabilities were better than the Play Station 2, and in some cases, on par with those of the X Box. Star Wars: Rogue Squadron III actually holds the sixth-gen record for polygon count, at 20 million polygons. The GameCube was the first Nintendo console to have fewer buttons on its controller than its predecessor; this was due to the introduction of a second analog stick, though this C-stick was smaller than the primary analog stick.

The GameCube is a creature of habit. Each time the owner of the GameCube System turns it on, the GameCube insists on jumping on a larger gelatinous version of itself, walking around the perimeter while leaving a purple trail behind, and when the trip is almost complete, the GameCube abruptly jumps into the center of the gelatin cube. Then all the tiles left behind by the GameCube fuse into a single piece of metal that greatly resembles the letter G. No one knows why the GameCube does this arcane routine, and thus it is often vulernable to being teased for its strange behaviors. Eventually the GameCub

In addition, the GameCube also introduced a variety of connectivity options to Nintendo consoles, and was the third Nintendo console, after the Nintendo 64 and the Japan-only Nintendo 64DD, to support online play officially, via the Nintendo GameCube Broadband Adapter and Modem Adapter. It also enabled connectivity to the Game Boy Advance to access exclusive features of certain games or to use the portable system as a controller for the Game Boy Player

  • The Nintendo GameCube (ニンテンドーゲームキューブ Nintendō GēmuKyūbu?), often abbreviated as GCN, is the fourth gaming console released by Nintendo in 2001. Super Smash Bros. Melee is one of its games, and its top-seller. Like the title says, it is in the shape of a cube. Its successor, the Wii, is backward compatible with the Nintendo GameCube; capable of playing all of its games and accepting its controllers and Memory Cards. Various Wii games have allowed use of a Nintendo GameCube controller as a way to have a more traditional way to play, including Super Smash Bros. Brawl. The control scheme in Super Smash Bros. Brawl works much like it did in Super Smash Bros. Melee.
Dolphin.
  • The Nintendo GameCube Codename Project Dolphin and N2000 is Nintendo's fourth home video game console. It is the successor to the Nintendo 64 and predecessor to the Wii. The Nintendo GameCube is the first Nintendo console to use optical discs as its game type (mini CDs, 8 cm in diameter), and the first Nintendo console to use a PowerPC chip. It also enabled connectivity to the Game Boy Advance to access exclusive features of certain games or to use the portable system as a controller for the Game Boy Player. Some well-known GameCube games include Super Mario Sunshine , Metroid Prime and its sequel, Star Fox: Assault, Kirby's Air Ride, and others. File:Gamecube logo.jpg

The Nintendo GameCube Optical Disc is the medium for the Nintendo GameCube, created by Matsushita. It is a mini-DVD that stores up to 1.4 GB of data. The reason for the mini-DVDs was to prevent unauthorized copying and to avoid licensing fees to the DVD Consortium. It was Nintendo's first non-cartridge storage method for systems released in North America and Europe. Some games which contain large amounts of voice acting or pre-rendered video were released on two discs; however, only twenty-five titles have been released on two discs, and no games require three or more discs. An accessory titled the Game Boy Player was released in 2003, allowing Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance games to be played on the GameCube. With the release of the Collector's Edition disk and the Game Boy Advanced adapter, the GameCube also plays more Zelda games than any other Nintendo system. The GameCube's successor, the Wii, has backwards compatibility with all GameCube games, meaning that despite being a generation earlier, GameCube games can still be played on the Wii. This does not apply to Wiis produced from late 2011 onwards, as these later models removed all Gamecube backwards compatibility due to production costs, as well as GCN peripheral inputs.
  • The Nintendo GameCube, often shortened to GameCube, is a purple metal brick who was the mascot of the Nintendo GameCube System. Not only that, it actually lives inside the gaming system! Eventually the GameCube got tired of the teasing and decided to tease the bullies back by glitching. But because it has no nervous system, the GameCube couldn't recognize which people were its tormentors or which were its friends, so it simply decided on glitching on everybody. And to this day, many people have experienced GameCube glitches that range from sudden stutter loops to bizarre deformities to musical outbreaks to even spontaneous combustion!

  • The Nintendo GameCube is Nintendo's fifth generation console. • Its sucessor, the Wii, is backward compatible with the GameCube; capable of playing all of its games and accepting its controllers and memory cards. Various Wii fighting games have allowed use of a GameCube Controller as way to have a more traditional way to play. The Nintendo GameCube is the first Nintendo console to use optical discs as its primary storage medium, after several aborted forays by Nintendo in disc-based storage media. In contrast with the GameCube's competing consoles, the Xbox and PlayStation 2, the GameCube uses miniDVD-based discs instead of full-size DVDs. As a result, it does not have the DVD-Video playback functionality of the Xbox and PlayStation 2 nor the audio CD playback ability of previous consoles that used full size optical discs. In addition, the GameCube also introduced a variety of connectivity options to Nintendo consoles, and was the first Nintendo console to officially support online play. The GameCube was at one point online compatible by using a GameCube Modem Adapter or Broadband Adapter, though the only four games that had an online component were Homeland, Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II, Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II Plus and Phantasy Star Online Episode III: C.A.R.D. Revolution. This online play was ended as of April 2007, but LAN gameplay is still available for the three titles that originally supported it: Mario Kart Double Dash!!, 1080° Avalanche and Kirby Air Ride. A third-party PC application called Warp Pipe allows online play of these three games by tunneling the network traffic through a computer and across the Internet, though this is not supported by Nintendo. The GameCube also allowed for connectivity to the contemporary Game Boy Advance to access exclusive features of certain games.
  • The GameCube competed for sales in the sixth generation of video game consoles alongside the Dreamcast (which ceased production before the system's launch), the PlayStation 2 and the Xbox. The GameCube was the first Nintendo system to use optical discs as a storage medium for its games.
  • Nintendo GameCube or the GCN is a sixth generation home game console released by Nintendo EAD in 2001. The GameCube is a console which is shaped like a cube. The console is the first Nintendo console to use Optical Discs. The second is the Wii and the third is the Wii U.

  • The Nintendo GameCube (also known as the GCN or NGC for some people) is a gaming platform made by Nintendo and is the fourth home video game console that belongs to the sixth generation era. It was released in Japan on September 14, 2001, November 18, 2001, in North America, May 3, 2002 in Europe, and May 17, 2002 in Australia. The system is one of the least expensive consoles next to the Dreamcast. It is the successor to the Nintendo 64 and the predecessor of the Wii. The GameCube, codenamed The Dolphin was first announced at E3 in 1999 but kept hidden until August 22, 2001. It has 128 bits.
  • The Nintendo GameCube is a sixth generation video game console initially released on September 14, 2001 in Japan. It was developed and manufactured by Nintendo and is to date their most unsuccessful interchangeable disc/cartridge based system. Nintendo first mentioned a successor to the Nintendo 64 on March 3, 1999, a day after Sony's announcement of the PlayStation 2. Two months later, on May 12, 1999, Nintendo of America's chairman Howard Lincoln officially announced the console, which would be codenamed "Dolphin." In classic form, Nintendo remained quiet for over a year about "Dolphin," preferring to focus on the Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Color at E3 2000. It wasn't until August 24, 2000, a day before Spaceworld 2000, that the company officially unveiled the GameCube, the end result of the "Dolphin" project. The heart of the GameCube is a 128-bit CPU called the "Gekko." The Gekko is based on the PowerPC architecture but optimized for game playing. The system's 202.5 MHz video processor, called "Flipper," was designed by ArtX and is being produced by ATi. ArtX is headed by Dr. Wei Yen, who played a major role in the development of the Nintendo 64's graphics chip. For its storage medium, the GameCube uses 8-cm discs based on a proprietary DVD technology, developed by Matsushita, that can hold up to 1.5GB. Since they are smaller than traditional DVDs, the GameCube is not able to play DVD movies, though through a partnership with Nintendo, Panasonic manufactured and distributed the Panasonic Q, a hybrid DVD-player console with GameCube hardware. The GameCube's controller combines elements from just about every controller before it, as well as introducing a few innovations of its own. In addition to the standard analog stick, D-pad and shoulder buttons, Nintendo has added an analog C-stick (often referred to as the camera-stick), moved the Z-button to the right shoulder and rearranged the button configuration so that there is a large A button surrounded by the X, Y and B buttons. The shoulder buttons L and R are both analogue, allowing the console to know how far they are pushed in, for things like throttle in racing games. Like the Nintendo 64, the GameCube features four controller ports. The regular GameCube memory card holds 4 Megabits of data, but the Digicard Adapter will allow for flash memory cards that can hold 64MB to 128MB, effectively giving the console the functionality of the failed 64DD add-on for the N64. A choice between a 56K modem and broadband adapter will be available for online connectivity, but neither of these add-ons is included with the console. Unlike the Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Color, which connect using an adapter, the GameCube will interface directly with the Game Boy Advance via the Game Boy Advance to Nintendo GameCube Link Cable to transmit information back and forth. The last title released for the GameCube was Madden 08. In 2006, its successor is Wii. Nintendo GameCube's predecessor is Nintendo 64, a game console that is released in 1996.

Nintendo offered many of its properties to other developers. Namco ran around with Donkey Kong and made the Donkey Konga series, Dolled Up Installments of the Taiko no Tatsujin series of drumming games. Namco and Rare (under the company's last days with Nintendo before getting bought out by Microsoft) both had Star Fox-based games (although Rare's was too a Dolled Up Installment, this one born out of Nintendo meddling with the would-have-been Nintendo 64 game Dinosaur Planet.) Most famously, Retro Studios rose to fame with the smash hit Metroid Prime. Capcom was working on The Legend of Zelda and liked the 'Cube so much they promised a few exclusive games for it, dubbed the "Capcom 5": * Dead Phoenix (cancelled) * P.N.03: Project Number 03 (the only game to stay exclusive) * Killer 7 (ported to the Play Station 2) * Resident Evil 4 (ported to the Play Station 2 again) * Viewtiful Joe (ported to-you guessed it-the Play Station 2) Oh, and this thing is tough, as in physically. There are stories of people having dropped GameCubes off the top of tall buildings and them still being perfectly intact. It's gotten a reputation for being damn near indestructible; someone once fended off a mugger with a knife with his Gamecube and it wasn't even damaged. Intentionally trying to break it is just about the only way to go. Considering Nintendo's history of making their products Tonka Tough, there might be a reason for that. Its codename during development was "Project Dolphin" and there are often little nods to this throughout early Gamecube games, such as Super Mario Sunshine being set on "Isle Delfino" (Italian for dolphin). An early rumoured release name for the console was "Starcube", which was apparently dropped for copyright reasons. There was a stylish-looking variant of the GCN that plays DVD movies and contained other multimedia functionality called the Panasonic Q, but only in Japan and only for those who care not about the health of their wallet. Oh, and the slow, haunting theme that plays when you turn on the thing? It's the start-up theme for the old Famicom Disk System, slowed down a whole bunch. Pretty neat.

  • The Nintendo GameCube is a sixth generation video game console initially released on September 14, 2001 in Japan. It was developed and manufactured by Nintendo. Nintendo first mentioned a successor to the Nintendo 64 on March 3, 1999, a day after Sony's announcement of the PlayStation 2, the successor to the Sony PlayStation. The heart of the GameCube is a IBM-developed CPU called the "Gekko." The Gekko is based on IBM's general-purpose PowerPC 750CXe with custom features. The system's 202.5 MHz GPU, called "Flipper," was designed by ArtX and after ATi bought ArtX, was produced by ATi. For its storage medium, the GameCube uses 8 cm discs based on the DVD, developed by Matsushita (Panasonic), that can hold up to 1.5GB. In addition to the standard analog stick, D-pad and shoulder buttons, Nintendo has added an analog C-stick (often referred to as the camera-stick) replacing the four yellow C-buttons from the Nintendo 64 controller, moved the Z-button to the right shoulder and rearranged the button configuration so that there is a large A button surrounded by the X, Y and B buttons and having the middle part from the Nintendo 64 controller removed for better comfort. A choice between a 56K modem and broadband adapter was available for online connectivity, but neither of these add-ons was included with the console. Unlike the Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Color, which connect using an adapter, the GameCube can interface directly with the Game Boy Advance via the Game Boy Advance to Nintendo GameCube Link Cable to transmit information back and forth. The last title released for the GameCube was Madden '08. In 2006, the GameCube was succeded by the Wii. In 2007, production of GameCube games are discontinued.
  • The Nintendo GameCube (ニンテンドーゲームキューブ) is the fourth home console made by Nintendo. The only Fire Emblem game made for GameCube was Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, which was notable for being the first console Fire Emblem released outside of Japan (Fire Emblem and Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones were released before Path of Radiance, but were on handheld consoles). Other games for it by Intelligent Systems were Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door, WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Party Game$ and Nintendo Puzzle Collection. Another game that mentions both Intelligent Systems and Fire Emblem would be Super Smash Bros. Melee.

  • "The nintendo gamecube is the wost console. the only good out of it was super smash bros". -said prez. Obama
