  • Labyrinth is a 1986 Jim Henson film executive produced by George Lucas, a musical fantasy starring David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly. Sarah is an unhappy teenager, who hides from life in fantasy tales to the point of dressing up in a long flowing dress and acting bits of script in the park. The cause of her unhappiness is her father's remarriage and the resulting half-brother, Toby (played by concept artist Brian Froud's son Toby), about a year old at the time of the action. One night, in a particularly big sulk, she wishes that the Goblin King (called Jareth) would come and take Toby away -- which, to her horror, he immediately does. He then offers her a dream-fulfillment crystal if she'll agree to forget Toby, which she refuses. Jareth gives Sarah a chance to rescue Toby; he takes her to

  • Labyrinth, written by Lois McMaster Bujold and published in 1989 by Baen Books in the collection Borders of Infinity, is a novella within the Vorkosigan Saga set chronologically between Ethan of Athos and "The Borders of Infinity". First published in August 1989 by Analog, it can also be found in the two omnibus editions Miles, Mystery and Mayhem and Miles, Mutants and Microbes. It has also been published by Roc outside the Vorkosigan Saga in the story collection Intergalactic Mercenaries in 1996. "Labyrinth" came in third place for a Locus Award for best novella and won the Analytical Laboratory (Analog reader's poll), both in 1990.
  • The Labyrinth of Moonlight is a stage in Soulcalibur II. It is Kilik's home stage. Just like the legends surrounding the island of Crete in the Mediterrean Sea, many myths and folklores around the world refer to structures called Labyrinths. Most places people refer to as labyrinths, however, are nothing more than intricate places. This ruin is the exception. With complex corridors and chambers that run though numerous levels underground, this ruin defines the word "labyrinth." No one knows when this labyrinth was created or its purpose. The only thing that is known about this recently reawakened ruin is that it is the only structure in this area--there are no cities nor temples anywhere nearby.
  • It only requires you to lock 3 towers before playing (No payment!) ; You can't use those towers for the rest of the game. The bloons come from the bottom of the track and make their way to the dead TotMG. You can place anywhere on the track, even on the path! But the towers on it would act like tunnels, so it can't target under it.
  • The Labyrinth was a cluster of Black Holes just inside the S'Ueto Region. It bordered The Vanishing Point.
  • The Labyrinth is a crypt filled with narrow corridors in the center area of the Underworld. Players adventuring into the Underworld start in the southern part of the Labyrinth and usually make their way north and west to the Reaper of the Labyrinth. The Labyrinth is plagued with several groups of the dreaded Bladed Aatxes and the occasional Dying Nightmare. Once the quest Clear the Chamber is taken (without which the locked doors will not open), the place will be swarming with Grasping Darknesses. This is why adventure groups will clear the path up to the closed doors first and take on the quest so they do not have to fight the Aatxes and Darkness at the same time. The Labyrinth leads southwest into the Forgotten Vale, northeast into the Ice Wastes and south into the Twin Serpent Mountains. The quest Unwanted Guests takes place in the Labyrinth. other quests starts there, and lead the party to other parts of the Underworld.
  • Labyrinth is a 1986 British/American fantasy film directed by Jim Henson, produced by George Lucas, and designed by Brian Froud.
  • A Labyrinth is an elaborate maze-like structure. Though many use the names Labyrinth and maze interchangeably, the word Labyrinth actually refers to a structure with a single, non-branching path which leads to the centre where a maze is a complex branching structure with many options for turns. Zeus imprisoned the Minotaur Gryphus in a Labyrinth in Alturia.
  • LABYRINTH is a track in the BIOHAZARD Operation Raccoon City ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK album.

  • The Labyrinth is a large maze constructed by the mortal Daedalus at the behest of the king of the Gods himself, Zeus in order to contain the key to Pandora's Box.
  • Labyrinth was one of the Trial events that featured during the first series of Robot Wars. It was a giant metal maze, a large scale version of the one in the Gauntlet. To make the game interesting there were only three entrances for the five robots to use to enter the maze and Sergeant Bash, Shunt and Matilda patrolling the maze. The robots would start at one end of the maze and had 90 seconds to get to the other side. The task was made more difficult as the house robots were stationed in the maze to slow the competitors down. The robot that travelled the least distance would be eliminated from the competition. If all five robots made it to the other side of the maze, the one that completed it in the slowest time would be eliminated. It is notable that the only time the Labyrinth appeared, the results table was completely inaccurate, even to the point where it displayed the rolling robot Psychosprout as "Pyschosprout".
  • The Labyrinth housed a Cyberbiotics facility that Xanatos tricked the Manhattan Clan into storming, specifically Hudson and Bronx. Cyberbiotics presumably abandoned it after the resulting financial difficulties. Goliath later abducted Anton Sevarius, bringing him to a lab in the Labyrinth, trying to force him to create a cure for the Mutates. Sevarius created a serum, which was really a poison. Had it been a cure, then Sevarius would not has been so insistent that Talon should take it since he so confidently bragged that he could make more for the other mutates. Xanatos rescued Sevarius before any further actions could be taken. The mutates claimed the Labyrinth as their home after abandoning Castle Wyvern atop the Eyrie Building, opening it up to a peaceful anarchy for the homeless of Manhattan. Fang took advantage of the lack of structure, trying to assert himself as the leader, forcing the homeless to give up what little belongings they had. Maggie the Cat, however, escaped and brought help in the form of Brooklyn, the unhappy leader in Goliath's absence, and the remaining members of the Manhattan clan. After Talon reluctantly accepted responsibility for the Labyrinth, Goliath struck a deal with him, stating that they would imprison Demona there, with a gargoyle guard at night, and a mutate guard in the day. Thailog freed Demona, and revealed that he had created a clan of clones. When he and Demona were presumed dead, the clones were brought to the Labyrinth, thus forming the Labyrinth Clan. Thailog reappeared on Halloween of 1996 to recollect the clones. Delilah was with Goliath at Castle Wyvern, so Thailog took the clones there to reclaim her. She and all but Brentwood decided to return to the Labyrinth. At an unknown point, Fang was removed from his prison cell to join the Redemption Squad.
  • Labyrinth, also known as Maze of the Ancients, is a dungeon crawler minigame found in Random Kingdom VXR. The namesake "labyrinth" is an ancient underground complex, consisting of a multitude of chamber complexes, referred to as "floors", interconnected with teleporters. The alignment of the teleporters constantly shifts, either by operating switches within a floor, or on its own. Every floor has an 'objective' and every chamber within a floor, called a 'cube', may present a challenge to the player. Some chambers are empty; others contain treasures. Completing a floor's objective rewards the player with additional treasures. Treasures found in the maze can be redeemed at the Maze Keeper for "maze tokens", which in turn can be used to buy various items to increase one's prowess within the maze, or items that can be used in the rest of the game. The further one proceeds into the maze, the higher the token reward. It is possible to spend tokens to skip floors. A unique feature of the Maze is that players will be locked at Lv 1 upon entering, without access to their weapons and abilities. Instead, they are given weak "Maze Weapons". Weapons, stats, levels and abilities can be unlocked using the respective items bought with tokens or found within the maze. The deeper one progresses into the maze, the more challenging the objectives and monsters will be - the early floors can be beaten with a lv1 char. A maze can only be entered by a single character at a time, although this limitation, too, can be removed with tokens. Finally, additional party members, in the form of "dolls", can be bought with tokens. These are automata. It is not possible to die in the maze - defeat will simply eject the player from the maze, at the cost of tokens and/or unlocked items, and all treasures collected.

  • "The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed." --Albert Einstein Protected by mountains exists a great forest, this forest is a keeper of a LABYRINTH of mysteries. This forest has existed from the very beginning and is yet unknown to the majority who live in Azeroth. However the secrets of the forest aren't all nefarious. To juxtapose these dark secrets one only needs to look to the forest to see the light whimsical secrets. Here calm and beauty is seen everywhere. The ancient forest is home to many majestic creatures. These grand creatures wear the scars of plagued (infected by an unknown) but live harmoniously and peacefully with each other (and they look to be lit from within by magic and this is reflected by their glowing eyes and scars.) The greatest mystery is the large glowing ring of mushrooms found deep in the forest. This ring can not be seen from air as a fog permanently shrouds the location. Unique on it's own it becomes the focal point of one of the purest magical events. Faerie darters begin to appear, one by one over an extended period of time, and fly close to the mushroom ring. Over time seven, no more no less, fly around the ring getting close and closer until drawn by an unseen force they converge on the ring and they begin to sing a hymn. As they sing, ethereal music notes float all around and beams of light shine from each darter, converging on the centre of the mushroom ring. Large waves of healing magic bellow out of the ring shooting up to the skies and the other creatures of the forest gather close to watch the scene and just as the mysterious ritual starts, it suddenly stops. The darters slowly fly away and fade out to wherever they happened to come from, and the forest creatures slowly wander off and the forest is quite once more. Overseeing the safety of such an important treasure the keepers and protectors of the forest live. Faerie darters live primarily in the Emerald Dream, where they patrol and police the natural realm from magic. Because of their home, darters possess the ability to phase in and out of reality, or rather, in and out of the Emerald Dream at any point they wish to. Basically, faerie dragons make it a point to disrupt any corrupted magic. In this magical Forest, it appears these rumors have the ring of truth. Over time those familiar with the histories and lore of the Emerald Dream have been gob-smacked to see darters phasing to this particular spot. Afraid for their safety and curious about their performance a small group of watchers formed to, initially, guard the darters when they spawned. Over time, when the more adventurous started to explore the forest, their mission statement changed and today they look after the entire forest, not just the darters. Simply known as these small group of watchers guard, keep and/or protect the forest's labyrinth of secrets, in their own unique ways, making sure evil doesn't appear, return, or surface in the forest. They're all from different walks of life, some are not the most savoury types, and they all share the same draw to the mysterious forest and unconscious need to keep it safe. Some live full time in the forest as either care-keepers or guardians while others only return to watch over the safety of the darters when they phase in. As the forest is relatively unknown the guild is so very teeny tiny. OOC-wise, Wyrmrest Accord is not home to my mains, however, it is my favorite realm. I play on this realm to only RP (which I find entertaining) and to unwind from a rather strict progressive timetable that I have with my mains. This means I'm not on this realm all the time. As a solo RPer I wanted to create a 'base camp' for my toons to live in as I enjoy having a guild to include in RP (in title only) but I'm not active enough to really be useful to anyone else (other then a chin-wag and a laugh.) I wanted to create an opportunity where a broad range of RP stories exist in the same guild without clashing. I wanted to create a guild with the solo RPer in mind, the 'free spirits' of RP without forcing any RP restrictions on them (if there ever comes the time to recruit.) So I created this guild. I'm not actively recruiting or actively looking to expand the guild but that doesn't mean I won't ever invite people to the guild. With regards to "the forest" I'm deliberately not naming it because I'm hoping other free spirits who love RP discover the forest on their own and we can RP together /clap. I LOVE walk-ups so please, you know, walk up lol. Oh and it's called Labyrinth because the forest plays host to a labyrinth of mysteries.

  • Nostalgia Chick: Hi, I'm your Nostalgia Chick and I think everyone probably remembers their first Bone...Bowie. (picture of David Bowie from Labyrinth is shown while a choir sings the Hallelujah chorus from Handel's Messiah. Nostalgia Chick just waves herself in glee as "Magic Dance" plays in the background) (Throughout opening monologue, scenes from the movie are shown) NCh: I mean there is a time in every child's life when they start to suspect that there might be some physical differences between males and females, but young female viewers of the cult classic Labyrinth got more than affirmation: (in sexy whisper voice) they got David Bowie. That being only the most memorable thing in this hell stew of dribble, goblins, ugly babies, Don Quixote references, and pre-Academy Award Jennifer Connelly. And I dare you to go into a circle of any number of respectable nerds, and say the words," You remind me of the babe." withou- (Right on cue and interrupting NCh, Nella answers back offscreen, "What babe?" NCh goes along and says,"The babe with the power." Nella counters with, "What power?" still offscreen.) but aside from basically being a David Bowie-worshipping platform, the thing was a pretty legit effort from the Jim Henson Workshop. Even featuring a screenplay from a former Python. (Terry Jones.) But our protagonist here is young Sarah Williams, played by baby-Jennifer Connelly, as what it appears to be the loneliest LARP-er in town. And that's saying something for one's social skills. Or acting skills for that matter. (Scene shows Sarah in field, and suddenly remembering that she has something to do at 7:00. Her dog runs with her. Throughout the next part, it shows more movie scenes featuring Sarah and her family.) NCh:Run away! the rain is starting! Sarah lives with her father and step-mother, whom she releases her annoying rage quite frequently apparently. Sarah is upset because she can't LARP always and has to babysit her- (Stops, realizes that some people have no idea what LARP is.) NCh: I glean that some of you may not have heard what LARPing is. Well for the uninitiated, LARPing is Live Action Role Playing. (Each word comes with hand gesture and ascending musical note for emphasis.) For those who think that Dungeons and Dragons isn't hardcore enough. If you want to learn more, just Youtube search: Lightning bolt. ("Lightning Bolt" is played, with NCh awkwardly clapping at end) (More movie slips are shown with Sarah and her baby step-brother, Toby.) NCh: Somehow the pirate baby got one of her teddy-bears, which really cheeses Sarah off. (Scene shows Connelly doing a not great delivery of her line) NCh: Well I hate YOUR acting. Unfortunately, there seem to be a bunch of goblin voyeurs in everyone's closet, waiting for her to wish the baby away correctly. (Scene shows Sarah lifiting Toby up and saying the wrong command, with the goblins complaining about it not even starting with,"I wish.") NCh:(Confused) Except for the fact that it totally does? (Shrugs at the goblin's exasperation.) Somehow she manages to get it right and then- (Scene shows David Bowie in all his bulging glory, while Handel's Messiah plays in the background. NCh looks incredibly aroused and happy. Scene continues with Bowie and Connelly talking.) NCh: That hair! Ground control to Major Tom! Now I believe in Modern Love! Ziggy play guitar? I think there was a study once about how 60% of the girls in America lost their virginity soley from watching David Bowie in this movie. Though it's got to be a little wonky having someone wave balls in front of your face. (NCh smirks, knowing the euphemism.) NCh: Get used to it kids, there's going to be an awful lot of that in this review.
  • Labyrinth is the 9th episode of Season 2 in Secret Mountain Fort Awesome.
Jareth gives Sarah a chance to rescue Toby; he takes her to his realm, where she must find her way through the Labyrinth to Jareth's citadel before thirteen hours elapse. In this she is aided by various goblins and monsters whose allegiance to Jareth is highly conditional or non-existent. Is a Spiritual Successor to The Dark Crystal, and was itself Spiritually Succeeded by Mirror Mask. Although a box office flop, it has since become a Cult Classic. The film is mainly aimed at children, but has plenty to engage an adult audience -- not least of all David Bowie's prominent package, a few fan-made drinking games, and the many, many tropes available for hunting... A four-novel English manga sequel called Return to Labyrinth began publishing in 2006 and concluded in 2010. In January 2012, Archaia Publishing announced it will be publishing a graphic novel prequel detailing Jareth's origins. * Adorable Evil Minions: Their adorableness is debatable but this trope fits the goblins quite well. * Advancing Wall of Doom: The Cleaners. * Affably Evil: Jareth. * Agent Peacock: Jareth. * All Just a Dream: Lampshaded, then subverted. Twice. Possibly. * All Musicals Are Adaptations: Averted -- it draws elements from folklore and fairy tales, but is not based on any one story. * Androcles' Lion: Sarah saves Ludo from some Goblins and he returns the favor by saving her from attack in the Goblin City. * Animated Credits Opening: A CGI-based one, as a barn owl swoops above and around the titles... * Arc Words: "You have no power over me!" * "It's not fair!" * "This is a piece of cake!" or a variation thereof. This always leads to Jareth or the Labyrinth itself increasing the difficulty level considerably. For example, Sarah exclaims this after solving a logic puzzle in her path: the floor disappears and she falls into a deep hole lined with rotten, gnarled, sentient hands who form grotesque faces to speak with her. The DVD release's documentary shows just how lovingly the scene marries Scenery Porn and Starring Special Effects. * Be Careful What You Wish For: Kicks off the entire plot. * Bishie Sparkle: Jareth, of course. * Bishonen: The creator of Return to Labyrinth actually referred to Jareth as one. * Too bad the comic's art beyond the cover didn't follow true to that word. There were many a disappointed fan after opening the cover. * Bizarrchitecture: The M. C. Escher stairs scene. * And let's be honest... everything else as well. It's a magical Labyrinth that constantly shifts and readjusts itself and most of the walls and doors are alive. * Blond Guys Are Evil: Well, Jareth isn't exactly EVIL, but still... * Blue and Orange Morality: The Goblin king claims to be generous with Sarah by living up to her expectations: taking Toby away from her, being frightening when Sarah expected him to be, and setting up the entire adventure for her "benefit". * Book Ends: The barn owl in flight -- arriving in the beginning to observe Sarah in the park, and leaving at the end after seeing her celebrating with her friends. * Can Not Tell a Lie: A guard who always tells the truth; its counterpart always lies. The trick isn't figuring out which is which, but posing a question that would get the same answer from either. Think on it. * Celebrity Paradox: Even a social recluse like Sarah should know about David Bowie. She is surprisingly unfazed when the Goblin King looks just like him. * Changed My Mind, Kid: Hoggle. * Changeling Tale: The result of Sarah's wish. * Chekhov's Armory: Sarah's entire bedroom. Plush Didymus, plush Ludo, the musicbox with Sarah's Pimped-Out Dress, a Jareth-looking statue, a print of that Escher drawing, it's all there. Not to mention, there's a picture of David Bowie with Sarah's actress mother in the scrap book and in the mirror. * Chekhov's Gun: A line she forgot from a play. * Circling Monologue: In their climactic confrontation, Jareth circles Sarah as he explains how "generous" he has been to her up to this point. * Comic Book Adaptation: Marvel did one (Type 1 in that it simply retold the story) as a tie-in when the film hit theaters; spanning three issues, it was collected into one volume afterward. * Coming of Age Story * Conspicuous CG: The owl in the opening credits, and the chair Sarah throws through the bubble. * Crystal Ball: Jareth likes to juggle these around and use them for Sinister Surveillance of Sarah as she makes her way through the labyrinth. The Nostalgia Chick made the obvious reference of David Bowie waving balls in front of her face. * Cut His Heart Out with a Spoon: Jareth threatens to have Hoggle suspended headfirst over the Bog of Eternal Stench, if he betrays him. * Daddy's Girl * Dance Party Ending: One of the earlier examples of this trope. * The Danza: Toby, played by illustrator/creature designer Brian Froud's son Toby. * Does This Remind You of Anything?: The point of this movie. It's about the transition from childhood to adulthood, and Sarah does just that... in the presence of David Bowie. Wait, what? * Also, the line "With the excitement of David Bowie" from the trailer takes a whole new meaning now that his crotch has gone memetic. * Down the Rabbit Hole * Dream Ballet: "As the World Falls Down" ("I'll place the moooon/Within your heart"). * Drill Tank * Eighties Hair: Especially Jareth, who is all new romantic-y looking. How many Anime characters copied that cut? * The Eleven O'Clock Number: "Within You". (In-story, it's the just-short-of-thirteen o'clock number.) * Endless Corridor: When Sarah first enters the Labyrinth, it appears to be this. * Mr. Fanservice/Perverse Sexual Lust: Pretty much everyone on the internet ever wants to get into Jareth's tights. * Even the Guys Want Him: Who do you think? Here's a hint, it ain't Hoggle. * Everything's Better with Chickens: Seen in the background, and made famous by the fans, who love them. Just try to find a fic that doesn't mention them. * Inverted by the director and most of the crew. They hated having the live chickens around, with the director making the oft-repeated Hollywood vow to never again work with animals or children. * Everything's Better with Sparkles: Jareth seems to have some kind of glitter fetish. * Seriously. To the point that almost every surface of the Labyrinth is covered in glitter. Well, excluding maybe the Bog of Eternal Stench. * Evil Brit: Jareth. * The Evil Prince: Though he bears the title of king, Jareth acts more like a spoiled prince who'd rather be doing anything but actually ruling the goblins. * Expanded Universe: In OEL Manga form, there's Return to Labyrinth, which picks up the story with a now-teenaged Toby and adult Sarah, the latter now with a Literal Split Personality. * The Fair Folk: Most of the goblins don't really fit this trope, but it describes Jareth perfectly. Arrogance, rules lawyering, and being as unfair as possible while claiming he's being totally fair. * Female Gaze: There's a reason the internet is more than a little bit obsessed with David Bowie's crotch. * Fetish Fuel Station Attendant: Jareth. Let's see: Bishonen, Evil Is Sexy, those pants and that riding crop.... The list goes on and on. Why did ya think this movie was so popular with adults? * Five-Man Band * The Hero /TheChick: Sarah * The Lancer: Sir Didymus * The Smart Guy: Hoggle * The Big Guy: Ludo * Team Pet: Ambrosius * Furry Confusion: Sir Didymus, some sort of dog-knight, is astride a normal-looking dog. * G-Rated Drug: The peach. * Gentle Giant: Ludo. * Getting Crap Past the Radar: "What kind of magic spell to use?" Coke-snorting "magic spell"? * Giant Poofy Sleeves: The sleeves on Sarah's fancy dress are probably bigger than Jareth's hair. * Girls Love Stuffed Animals * Gravity Screw: The Escher room is this for Sarah. * Growing Up Sucks: Subverted, in that Sarah comes to the realization that while she cannot let childhood nostalgia and fantasy overtake her life, they are things that are important to remember and learn from "every now and again" as she enters adulthood. * Hakuna Matata: "Chilly Down" is this crossbred with a Villain Song. * Heel Face Turn: Hoggle. * Helping Hands: They were trying to help Sarah after she fell into the oubliette, but "she chose dooowwnnn!". * The Hero's Journey: The plot actually follows this pretty clearly. * High Collar of Doom: Two of Jareth's outfits have high collars. * Horse of a Different Color: Sir Didymus, a chivalrous, fox-like knight who rides a sheepdog called Ambrosius. This is also an example of Furry Confusion, in that we have a normal, barking and growling canine serving as mount for an anthropomorphic canine (or possibly a squirrel or skunk) who can walk and talk, but also barks and growls along with his mount on occasion. * Hulk Speak: Ludo. * Humongous Mecha: Guards the gates to the Goblin City; All There in the Manual material reveals that its name is, in fact, "Humongous". * I'm Not Afraid of You: How Sarah wins, at the end. "You have no power over me!!" * Invasion of the Baby Snatchers: Averted, as the only reason the baby is kidnapped is because Sarah wished for that to happen. * Intangible Man: During "Within You", Jareth phases through Sarah. * It's All Junk: The junk heap scene gives the trope its name. * Knights and Knaves * LARP: Sarah's (isolated) hobby. * Large Ham: Jareth, played by David Bowie. * Laugh with Me: Just before the "Magic Dance" sequence, Jareth laughs, then demands that his goblins join in. Once, they do, he shuts them up for the song. Much the same happens after Sarah is trapped in the oubliette. * Life Isn't Fair: Boy, does Sarah learn this the hard way... * Living Labyrinth * Lord Error-Prone: Sir Didymus. * Losing Your Head: The Fireys. * Lotus Eater Machine: The ball, and the replica of her bedroom afterwards. * Lovable Traitor: Hoggle. * Magical Land: The Labyrinth. * Make a Wish: All Sarah has to do is wish for her baby brother to disappear, and goblins ferry him away. * Malevolent Mugshot * Mind Screw: Reciting a line from a play defeats the Goblin King. Really, that's what finally stops him. * Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal: If Jareth had settled on just giving Hoggle orders then there would have been no problem, especially since Hoggle is a dyed-in-the-wool misanthrope. However, Jareth just can't seem to stop insulting Hoggle, belittling him, physically mistreating him, and issuing dire threats (it was probably his threat to dump Hoggle into the Bog Of Eternal Stench that finally tipped the scales). The manga reveals that Jareth makes good on his threat. * Multiple Head Case: The Fireys. * Musical World Hypotheses: Alternate Universe, with a touch of All In Their Heads for "As the World Falls Down". All four song-and-dance numbers take place in the Magical Land; moreover, unlike many musicals they aren't spread out amongst the main characters -- the Fireys get one and Jareth gets the other three, suggesting that singing is simply a way they communicate with others and/or amuse themselves. * Must Make Amends: The plot of the movie follows this. * My God, What Have I Done?: Hoggle, after giving Sarah the peach. Also Sarah herself, when she realized the goblins had listened when she wished they'd take Toby away. * My Name Is Not Durwood: The only time that Jareth gets Hoggle's name right is on the occasion of the "If she ever kisses you..." threat. He's just as bad with Mayor Spittledrum's name in the manga. * Nobody Can Die: Purposefully invoked by the filmmakers. * Nothing Is Scarier: Toby begins crying absolutely uncontrollably, and Sarah says, "I wish the goblins would come and take you away-- right now." And instantaneously, there is silence, and the audience (and Sarah) realize that's exactly what happened. * Only Smart People May Pass: The entire labyrinth...although it's not really judging cleverness so much as the ability to think "outside the box". * Oubliette * Other Common Music Video Concepts: This movie managed two Movie Tie-In Music Videos, both of which have Bowie as himself: "Underground" sends him into a mysterious alley where he meets seemingly half the puppet cast (no Video Full of Film Clips here!) and "As the World Falls Down" has Hoggle bearing witness to a Love Before First Sight situation (a woman falls for Bowie via a photo, he falls for her via a painting). The latter initially went unaired when the single release was cancelled, but both videos have since been featured on career-spanning Bowie compilations. * Our Fairies Are Different: They're a bunch of small sprites that Hoggle sprays like bugs, and they tend to bite. * Our Goblins Are Different: In folklore, one of the main attributes of goblins is that they steal babies. Jareth looks mostly human (if he wasn't a stolen baby himself). * Owl Be Damned: Jareth's shapeshifted form is that of a barn owl. * Painted-On Pants: Jareth. * Parental Abandonment: The novelization says that Sarah's mother, an actress, walked out on the family and took up with a charming fellow actor named Jeremy. While most of this is All There in the Manual material, in the film there is a picture of the mother with a male co-star in Sarah's scrapbook, and he looks awfully like Jareth... * Pimped-Out Dress: Sarah's ultra-puffy dream dress. * Place Worse Than Death: The Bog of Eternal Stench. * Politeness Judo * Pop Star Composer: Well, who do you think? * Race Against the Clock: Sarah must solve the Labyrinth within 13 hours. * Reality Warper: The Labyrinth is essentially Jareth's plaything, and he is also capable of altering time there. * Rhetorical Request Blunder: When Sarah mutters to her colicky infant brother, "I wish the goblins would come and take you away. Right now," she has no idea they are listening. * Road Sign Reversal: Sarah draws arrows on the ground to show which path she's already taken. When she's not looking, goblins flip and turn the tiles with the arrows on them, so she loses her way. * Rummage Sale Reject: Almost a literal one with the Junk Lady. * Senior Sleep Cycle: The Wise Man falls asleep mid-sentence, much to the chagrin of his talking hat. * Shout-Out * Amongst the books in the panning shot of Sarah's room are Where the Wild Things Are and Outside Over There by Maurice Sendak; the latter picture book (1981) is particularly significant because it's about a girl rescuing her sibling from goblins, though it's a much simpler and different tale. (According to Brian Froud in the Empire retrospective, "The link between his work and ours was only noticed well into production", as the concept of goblins stealing babies is well-established folklore.) Henson's "artistic debt" to Sendak's work is acknowledged in the end credits. * Sarah's dream is right out of "Cinderella" in more ways than one. Plus, it's the result of her consuming a bewitched fruit. * "You remind me of the babe" is a direct reference to the ending of The Bachelor And The Bobby-Soxer (1947). * As Sir Didymus rides through the Goblin City to rejoin his allies, he cries "Hi-ho Silver, away!" * Slouch of Villainy: Jareth's preferred way of "sitting" in his throne. (Currently provides the trope's page image.) * Smooch of Victory: Sarah gives Hoggle one after he helps her escape the Fireys -- not knowing that Jareth had warned him that if she ever did that, he'd make good on his threat of the Bog of Eternal Stench... * The So-Called Coward: Hoggle. * Spiritual Successor: The second of a Spiritual Trilogy; see the main description. * Squee: David Bowie as Jareth inspires epic amounts of rampant fangirlism to this day (and in-world, the goblins seem to react to anything Jareth says with intense cackles of delight and exuberance -- though they have problems with timing), while at the same time also provoking plenty of Squick for other viewers due to the age difference between Jareth and Sarah. * Stalker with a Crush: Jareth for Sarah. * Starring Special Effects: The vast majority of the inhabitants of the Labyrinth are these, after all. * Steampunk: The mecha at the Goblin City's gates. * Surrounded by Idiots: "Well, laugh!" No wonder Jareth fancies Sarah, he's probably desperate for a conversation with someone with a IQ above one digit. * Take Our Word for It: For obvious reasons, the odor of the Bog of Eternal Stench. * Talent Double: Used for the contact juggling, which Bowie himself was unable to do. Thankfully. (In other words, someone else is playing with Bowie's balls!) * Tempting Fate: Never say the Labyrinth is "a piece of cake." Especially to Jareth's face. You will swiftly regret it. * This Is Something She's Got To Do Herself: Once Sarah and her friends reach the castle, she tells them she has to face Jareth alone, "Because that's the way it's done." And that IS the way it is in the forgotten script for her play... * Troll Bridge: Sir Didymus' bridge. * Unlimited Wardrobe: Jareth has several costume changes as the film progresses. * Villainous Cheekbones: Jareth, of course. * Villain Song: This film is pretty much Villain Songs -- The Movie! * "Magic Dance" and "Within You" for Jareth (the latter is also an Obsession Song, shading into Villain Love Song). * "Chilly Down" for the Fireys. * Villain Love Song: "As the World Falls Down". * Visual Innuendo: Jareth playing with his crystal balls while wearing skin-tight leggings. * Voluntary Shapeshifting: Jareth. * When the Clock Strikes Twelve: Or thirteen (goblin time being what it is) Toby will become one of them if Sarah doesn't solve the Labyrinth by then. The ballroom dance sequence climaxes just as the clock strikes twelve, as per the Cinderella motif. When she defeats Jareth, it's just as the clock strikes thirteen; when Sarah and Toby are returned to their world, it's midnight there. * Wicked Stepmother: The stepmother invokes this, saying Sarah insists on treating her like one. (Granted, she doesn't exactly take great pains to alleviate the situation, given the implication that she went into Sarah's room and took a doll without her consent to give to Toby, snapping at her about her dog, and indeed sort of treating her like an employed babysitter rather than a member of the family.) * Her stepmother seems to be good at backhanded niceties; Sarah protests that her parents don't ask her to babysit anymore, they just expect her to do it whenever they want to go out on the weekend. Her stepmother says she'd be happy to hear that Sarah had a date instead. Considering that Sarah's an introverted loner with really nerdy hobbies, it's cruel of her mother to suggest that it's okay to take her for granted because she's not popular. Further following the wicked-stepmother story is her ineffectual, oblivious father; his idea of talking to his obviously troubled daughter who is having obvious trouble adjusting to her father's remarriage and new baby and the loss of her mother is to tell her he and his new wife will be back around midnight. No wonder she's dead-set on escaping into fantasy; the labyrinth is the only place she goes where anyone listens to her. * World Building: As is normal when Henson and Froud work together, with no small assist by Terry Jones; the tie-in book The Goblins of Labyrinth (written by Jones and featuring Froud's concept art) goes into hugely goofy detail about their society and folklore. * Yandere: Jareth certainly has his moments... * You Keep Using That Word: When Sarah tells Jareth the Labyrinth is "a piece of cake", he proceeds to magically reduce her remaining time to solve it. * You Remind Me of X: "You remind me of the babe..."

  • Labyrinth (Crazy Maze in Super Monkey Ball Deluxe) is the 6th floor in Dr. Bad-Boon's Base. It is exclusive to Story Mode and does not appear in Challenge Mode. This is a really hard and big stage and has a really long way to the goal. And there is a gap near the end which makes it difficult if you slow down...
Sevarius created a serum, which was probably poison. Had it been a cure, then Servarius would not have been so insistent that Talon should take it since he so confidently bragged that he could make more for the other mutates. Talon did not approve so Fang had him imprisoned. Sevarius freed Fang to help him release a mutate virus over Time Square. The Redemption Squad found Sevarius had been experimenting on people abducted from the Labyrinth. Two children named Benny and Erin and two adults named Tasha and Thug were turned into mutates. When it became clear that there was no cure Tasha killed herself. After the plan to mutate everyone in Time Square was thwarted, Fang joined the Redemption Squad and Thug took Benny and Erin back to the Labyrinth.
  • The Labyrinth is a giant maze in Greece which is said to have been the home to a fearsome beast, the Minotaur. It is also where Beranabus was born and brought up by the Minotaur until it was slain by Theseus. After his father-like figure's death, Beranabus left the Labyrinth in search of other things.
  • The Labyrinth was an ancient maze of tunnels in the Northdark.

  • The Labyrinth is a land formation found on Warrant VI. It was discovered by the Kel-Morian Combine. The formation is similar to the Labyrinth of Crete on Earth and is several millennia old. Some terran scholars believe this is an indication that aliens visited Earth to create the Labyrinth, and created another one on this world. The Combine has no intention of turning the Labyrinth over to the "scientific community", however, due to the extensive mineral fields located there.
  • The Labyrinth is a space-station used by the Minotaur as a prison ship during their raid of Pink Vale Middle/Elementary School. Everyone inside the school’s 3rd science lab was teleported into individual holding prisons in the Labyrinth’s airlock known as Cell 1. The Labyrinth was identified by Cross as a Cellscape station, meaning that each other segment of the ship (Cells 2-55) were converted into atoms and stored in the airlocks at the end of the ship. These airlocks were manned by a complicated procedure that involved the Minotaurs’ hand being placed on a panel that had a built-in fingerprint-scan. Anyone who had denied access would be charged with 12 kiloampers. The next cell then materialized in front of the airlock, and once the oxygen, radiation, and stabilization readings showed it was safe to enter, the airlock opened. The Labyrinth also had a reset capacity, which would initiate the restoring of Cells 2-55. It also releases 200 rads of radiation. The access lever for the reset was located in Cell 15. This was unintentionally activated by Jodie East. She materialized in Cell 15.
JAAAAA!!!“ Er lachte so krank, so gestört.

  • "Skyross. Skyross." The tom's blue eyes didn't tear away from the maze in front of him. "Skyross!" He could only stare. Eventually he was yanked away. His sister. Reroff. "Skyross, c'mon! We can't go in, it's too dangerous!" The tom pulled himself away. "Reroff, what would Brother Darmin have done?" "Brother...Darmin.." The gray tabby she-cat shrugged. "Uh, Darmin would've gone up to it and gone in.." "He's our role model, Ref!" The tom's dark gray fur and blue eyes glared at his sister. "Brother Darmin is all that we have left until Father Leeroy returns." Father Leeroy was the leader of his group. Father was the model for them. Except for that he had gone into the maze. Skyross knew that cats never returned after they entered. It was a maze, a giant maze. Nobody had ever returned. But he wanted to go in and get out. Reroff wouldn't let him. He followed her back to the camp as he kept quiet about this. Reroff had thought she had won after he kept quiet after she had screamed at him. She thought she'd won. But he knew she hadn't. He waited that evening. He knew that he'd be killed if he went out, if he wasn't dead anyway. Father Leeroy spoke of the labyrinth daily. He always said that it was a death trap. But Skyross didn't believe that. He knew that the old orange tabby tom had never been inside. So he was going to be the first one to do it. ~ The labyrinth is taking more ~ He stood at its foot later that night. This is it. He flicked his tail, his eyes staring at the walls. He dug his claws into the ground. I could die. I really could. No. He stared at the entrance. His blue eyes blinked. Remember her. His best friend. Kerz. Her fur. Her brown tabby fur and amber eyes made her look evil. He never thought of her like that. She, an outlaw that had done no crime. He, someone who was too scared to take action. She told him that she was going. She told him that she would be back. She said that she'd be back for him. She said that she'd miss him. That was when she had gone in. It was time to find her again. Kerz. Skyross closed his eyes, his claws burrowing into the earth. I'm coming, Kerz. You don't have to come back, because I'm coming for you, my friends, my family. But mostly because I miss you. He opened his eyes again. He glanced at his paws. The gray mixed with the dark grass made him look invisible. The sky was littered with stars, but there was no moon. He took a breath and stepped in. ~ ~ She waited for him. Her name was Hrydx. She'd never seen the outside world. She only knew because of how Kerz talked. Kerz was her best friend. She wondered about who she mentioned often - Skyross. She wondered who he was. She wondered if the outside world was as Kerz described. Violent, mean, savage. Were there really cats who fought each other? She'd never believe it, not while she was within the group. The group was called Quantum Harmony, but she just called it Quantum. She thought the group name was too long. She flicked her gray tabby tail as she sat near Kerz. The brown tabby she-cat was telling a story, but she hardly listened - she was too busy thinking. She could sense change. It was all based upon the stars and how the sky looked. A night of no moon and abnormal clouds really only meant change was coming. The sky changed. She could change. Cats changed. The group changed. Everything was changing right before her eyes. She excused herself from Kerz to sit outside. Despite the walls around her, she knew there was an exit - there always was. The vegetation licked the walls. She lifted a paw and licked it. The world is changing all around me. She tried not to think about the shifting within the group. She knew something was wrong with the world around her. Her father was a leader. Tharo was his name. He looked like her, his gray tabby fur and blue-gray gaze. Blue-gray. She didn't know how he got that cover. Who cares. She tried to ignore it. I wonder if Kerz is right. A memory flashed in her mind. Norma. Norma, Norma, where did you go..? She had been best friends with the reed-brown cat known as Norma. She knew that Norma was never normal, but she knew that Norma was gone...or she thought so, anyway. Norma had left the maze. Hrydx had never seen her since. She glanced over at Kerz, her ears twitching. "Kerz." The tabby looked up. "Yeah, 'ry?" She scowled; she hated that nickname. "Did you ever know someone named Norma?" "Who?" Kerz cocked her head to one side. "Never heard of her." "Them." Hrydx hated when everyone assumed that Norma was female. Norma was just...Norma, and that was all they wanted to be. She remembered the day when Norma decided to be neutral. They never liked the gender stereotyping..so that was the day Hrydx stopped call her by her female pronouns to one that was more neutral. Norma never liked gender rules. Hrydx winced; there were many in her community, despite its name. Breaking one of the rules could mean anything - sometimes so serious that the violater could be thrown out. That had happened to Norma. Identifying as a neutral gender was out of the question. Norma had been sent out. She hadn't been seen since. Hrydx missed Norma greatly. Their age gap was somewhat long, but they were still great friends.
