rdfs:comment
  • Corola III was the third planet in the Corola star system, located within Federation space, in the Alpha or Beta Quadrant. It was a Class G world. Initially the planet was the site of small Orion colony, but during the Four Years War, the inhabitants fled an approaching Klingon Task Force and never returned. Following the war, Starfleet laid claim to the planet for use as a subsidiary base for the nearby Starbase 27. It had a classified technological/sociopolitical index and no planetary trade profile by virtue of being prohibited. (FASA RPG module: The Orions: Book of Common Knowledge)

abstract
  • Corola III was the third planet in the Corola star system, located within Federation space, in the Alpha or Beta Quadrant. It was a Class G world. Initially the planet was the site of small Orion colony, but during the Four Years War, the inhabitants fled an approaching Klingon Task Force and never returned. Following the war, Starfleet laid claim to the planet for use as a subsidiary base for the nearby Starbase 27. All Starfleet vessels required permission from Starbase 27 in order to approach the planet, and no civilian ships could enter the system at all. Any civilians who found themselves accidentally in the vicinity of the Corola system were quickly picked up by a skilled search-and-rescue facility and housed in a small surface installation before being ferried out on another ship. The turnaround was usually less than a day. Rumors persisted among the Orions that the base was used as a secret Federation maximum-security prison, housing the hardest and harshest Orion pirates. The rumors also suggested that various psychological reconditioning experiments were conducted on its inmate population, attempting to turn the inmates into supposedly 'useful' and 'normal' Orions. It had a total surface area of 477,836,220 square kilometers, 100% of it land mass. About 12% of its makeup was normal metals and 3% was industrial crystals, with only trace amounts of radioactive elements, gemstones and special minerals. It had a thin desert climate and an 24-hour day. It had a classified technological/sociopolitical index and no planetary trade profile by virtue of being prohibited.
