  • The Broken, also known as Krokul in Draenei, are a mutated and devolved subrace of draenei who lived in Outland. They, like most of the orcs, fell prey to the demons' sinister influence and were changed by the corruption. Though they lost some of their former powers, the Broken still present a clear danger to all races through Outland. The largest known faction of Broken in Outland, the Ashtongue Deathsworn, is currently led by Akama. They are supposedly allied with Illidan Stormrage.

  • There are several different ways in which a person can be Broken. The first is the breaking of a person's Jewels . By filling the Jewel past its ability to absorb power or draining it entirely it is possible to breake a Jeweled Male or Female. This break results in an inability to use any Craft that will require the power of a certian level of Darkness, though it is possible to break a person to no craft at all or even cause death by Breaking them. Breaking a Jewel can also occur on a woman's Virgin Night which could result in loss of Craft, Insanity, and even Death.

  • by Janikaa In her dreams, she was falling. It was more or less what she always dreamed these days. Sometimes she hit the bottom, and sometimes she didn't. The nights that she didn't, those were the nights that weren't so bad. Without further adornment, she gathered her things and went out to the shores of the lake near the Exodar. A soft rumble from her stomach distracted her, reminding her that she had to eat. She quickly chewed a few mouthfuls of bread, the taste and the texture of it going unnoticed, and drank a bit of water. She returned to her rituals. In her dreams, she was falling.
  • Broken can be described as a game play element (anything ranging from character, stages, items, situations, or a combination thereof) is so overpowering that it ruins game play by supplanting other game play elements. A common form of brokenness that is heavily disputed between players is in the form of character a by itself. A prime example would be Meta Knight in Super Smash Bros. Brawl where his attributes over power the rest of the casts and his tournament legality is heavily disputed. This also occurs in Super Smash Flash 2 where some characters have attributes that give them advantages over the rest of the cast. It is hard to find a character who is broken in Super Smash Flash due to all of the cast who attacks deal tons of damage and knockback while all having the same recovery opti

  • ~*•Phineas POV•*~ ~*• In the car •*~ I'm so excited we're going to the cliffs! I've been waiting for this for years! The only downside is that Ernie's here. He's so mean! I wish mom didn't make me take him. "How are you guys back there?" says Mom, looking back. Ernie freezes, his finger still in Buford's ear. Yikes! "Uhhh…" he says, not knowing what to do. He takes his distinctively waxy finger out of Buford's ear and wipes his hand on his shirt. "Just… just cleaning my cousin's ear! Yeah!" Yes, Ernie. With your saliva. Mom looks concerned and turns around, only for Ernie to noogie Buford. Ugh. Dad says: "Almost here kids! 2 minutes and 43 seconds away!" "How do you know how far we are?" "My GPS told me!" Oh, Dad. You're so awkward sometimes. :) "Woohoo!" We all cheer, except for B
  • Ryuko encounters Sabine for the second time, determined to overcome her past defeat. Ryuko squinted, her dark cell suddenly bright. A claw grabbed her, pulling her into the light. She stood barefoot in a stone antechamber, with blood splattered dust over a metal floor. In front of her stood two attendants, big burly T’vaon, carrying crates, and each eyeing her cautiously. Opening the crate, she saw was her gladiator armour, a gaudy suit made of a mixture of metal and leather. “Remember your orders” Sabine just snorted “Such idle threats do not concern me. You lack the skill to defeat me."

  • Broken es el sexto episodio de la primera temporada de CSI: Miami.
  • Broken is a Torchwood comic strip. It has been printed through various publications.
  • Broken is a possible state for weapons, missiles, wands, and keys in ADOM, which typically disallows the use of the items. Prior to version p11, all types of items could be broken by cursed scrolls of repair. Items may be broken in several ways. Keys sometimes break when unlocking doors, rusty weapons may break if the PC attacks in melee with them, and pick axes are prone to breaking when mining. Certain traps (ceiling in particular) or falling in the Rift might break some equipped or carried items too. Items may also be created broken. Players can intentionally (or accidentally) break items by reading a cursed scroll of repair. Broken weapons quickly become useless; they will only deal half damage (or 1/4 damage if also rusty). If the weapon in question happens to be cursed and cannot be removed, the player may be in serious trouble, depending on their ability to use ranged weapons or spells and how quickly they can get rid of the liability. One solution to this problem can be to provoke a rust monster, which can destroy the weapon. Creatures that disarm, like ratling fencers, will also prove helpful. Broken wands or tools are not usable until they are fixed. Most items can be fixed by a scroll of repair (with uncursed or blessed status) or by talking with (and paying) Glod. Glod's prices depend on the item's value, so it might be beneficial to corrode a pick axe by attacking jellies, in order to save money (fixing a well-corroded pickaxe can be 1/3 as expensive as fixing a pristine one). Items made from metal can be fixed by using the Smithing skill. Pick axes are considered to be made from wood and cannot be fixed this way.

  • "Broken" is the first EP released by Nine Inch Nails. It can be considered as the second studio album since it consists of new material.
  • A broken gameplay element (whether it be a character, stage, item, situation, or combination thereof) is so overpowering that it ruins gameplay by supplanting other gameplay elements. A classic example is Fox in Hyrule Temple; he can outrun almost every other character on the massive stage, and can chip at the enemy by firing lasers; thus, he can easily win matches by percentage difference. This type of unfair strategy is "broken" and action is taken (in this example, banning Hyrule Temple from tournament legal stages) to prevent it from impacting competitive play. Others include extreme stalling techniques such as Infinite Dimensional Cape or Luigi Ladder. The term "broken" is often used when describing techniques, characters, attacks, etc. in many competitive games. While the term is prevalent among many games, it is often overused. Many players are quick to label strong techniques as "broken" when in reality there are consistent counters to those techniques that have not yet been discovered (although whether one can say a technique is not broken just because of undiscovered counter-techniques is fuzzy). If a broken technique is not dealt with, the game would simply degenerate into both players trying to be the first to make use of the broken element as no other element would prove effective.

  • Broken is chapter 34 of the Future Diary manga.
  • Broken is a subjective term used to refer to any card or strategy that gives its user an excessive advantage, or a card or strategy that defines the competitive metagame in a negative or imbalanced manner. Most cards that are considered or found broken are usually Forbidden or Limited shortly afterward, though not necessarily always. In general, the two primary factors for gauging a card or strategy's balance is its cost and its consistency. For example, some FTK and OTK setups can enable their user to instantly win the Duel without their opponent being able to respond when performed correctly; however, they are very often inconsistent (and leave their user in a highly losing position if failed), making them not broken. (On the other hand, FTK/OTK setups that are discovered to be highly consistent will be deemed broken, and generally their key card(s) made Forbidden or Limited.) It is sometimes the case that existing cards or strategies become retroactively unbalanced due to the release of newer cards or mechanics. Other times, cards or strategies may become broken due to an unexpected and/or unintended interaction with other cards, strategies, or mechanics. An alternate definition of "broken" can refer to cards/strategies that become heavily used outside of their intended design due to an exploitation or loophole in said design, thus "breaking" the design.

  • Broken is the premiere episode of the 6th season of House and first aired as a two-hour special on September 21, 2009. In syndication and foreign market, the episode is generally broadcast in two separate halves. This is the only episode of the series that was originally broadcast over two consecutive hours. The story takes place during over a period of about two months at Mayfield Psychiatric Hospital. Upon detoxing from Vicodin, the director of the hospital threatens House‘s medical license if he doesn‘t remain a voluntary patient in the hospital. House is introduced to his fellow patients in Ward 6, whom he immediately describes as "crazy". His primary physician is the by-the-book Dr. Nolan, who has the final decision on whether House is well enough to resume the practice of medicine. However, overwhelmed by Dr. Nolan's lack of imagination and the slow progress, and with no diminution in House's caustic nature or medical skills, House immediately sets to work diagnosing his fellow patients in a matter of seconds just to amuse himself and annoy the ward's primary care physician, Dr. Beasley. Wanting out at any cost, he turns to attempted blackmail followed quickly by disruption, then deception. However, Dr. Nolan appears to be up to the challenge and meets House’s manipulations at every turn, then tries to convince him that surrender is the only way out. Meanwhile, House soon takes an interest in one of the other patients but will even House be able to convince the staff at Mayfield that he may have the answer about him? He also starts to take an interest in a frequent visitor, but whatever good the hospital may have done for him may all go for naught because of her. The episode brings into sharp focus that the series is more a character-driven drama than a procedural drama. In addition, it also shows that House is the only character the series really cares about developing because, in the end, House is really the only character that viewers really care about. Despite his overwhelmingly bad characteristics, viewers know that House is by far one of the most interesting characters on television. Part of that is undoubtedly because he's the one character who isn't trying to hide their bad side the way almost all the other characters do. Foreman and Chase are insecure, Cameron is judgmental, Wilson and Taub are unfaithful, Cuddy is a suck-up to the powers that be, and Thirteen is promiscuous. All of them try, with varying degrees of success to hide these parts of their personality and it's arguable that they all need psychiatric help as well. Only House's faults are open for all to see. Conversely, where the others flaunt their good qualities, House goes to great lengths to hide his curiosity, compassion for patients, and his feelings for others. The episode also puts the flip side on the diagnostic and treatment process typical of the series. In the vast majority of episodes, the diagnosis is difficult and the cure fairly easy - House and his "magic bullet". Here, the diagnosis is easy, but the episode shows much of the truth about medicine, particularly psychiatric medicine - the cure is often messy, uncertain and lengthy. All those factors are increased when the patient is skeptical and uncooperative. Where in most episodes Everybody lies interferes with the diagnosis, here it interferes with the treatment. Even the doctors have to revert to lying in order to get House to go along with the process. We also are reminded of House's humanity through Lydia. Although House frequents prostitutes, he has been in a real relationship before and, as we find out later in the season, wants to be in a real relationship again. However, when House falls, he falls deeply. He's always the acerbic, insulting, smart-ass he always is, but he's a sucker for anyone who can see right through that and best him at his own game. When that happens, the artifice falls away and the real feelings come to the surface. It's once again nice to see a side of House we haven't seen since the middle of season two.

It is hard to find a character who is broken in Super Smash Flash due to all of the cast who attacks deal tons of damage and knockback while all having the same recovery options.
:) "Woohoo!" We all cheer, except for Buford and Ernie. "I didn't even want to go." mumbles Ernie. "What was that, Ernie?" says Mom. "N-Nothing, Mrs. Flynn-Fletcher!" he stammers. Ooooh, Ernie. You just got beat by my mom!! XD 2 minutes and 43 seconds later… We're finally here! YES! Candace isn't too happy, though. She didn't say a word the whole trip. She storms out of the car and sits on a log, her arms folded. She's not happy. "Why don't you kids play tag while we set up the picnic?" suggests Mom. "Awwww!" moan Buford and Ernie. Just like them. "Go on, kids, just give it a try!" says Mom. I think she wants us to relive the past. Or at least, something like that. "Oh, what the heck? Let's give it a try," I say, trying to be optimistic. So in the end, we decide to play. It wasn't much fun though considering Ernie was beating everyone up through half of it. That's when things took a bad turn.
One attendant grunted, and she stepped forward, frowning. It came over, carrying her armour, and pulled the upper portion of it onto her, and began fitting. Ryuko snarled as a clip nicked her. The process was a ritual at this point, as she was dressed, and the final box was unlatched, revealing her sword, a Kig-Yar sabre. As she took it into her hand, the nearest attendant grunted. “Remember your orders” She rolled her eyes. They weren’t hard to forget. The fanciful peacock that proclaimed himself owner of Ryuko had given it to her straight The arena door opened, letting in the sounds of the arena. Without a word, she walked out into arena, surrounded by raised stands chock full of fans eager to watch the two slaves fight. She could hear an announcer squawking, but she ignored the sound. She stood in her decorative armour, for show in the arena rather than for real protection. Opposite her stood her foe, the one they called Sabine. She wore even less than her, with some ghastly white armour, that looked uncomfortable. They walked to the centre of the arena, seizing each other up Ryuko grinned “Gladiators like you make me sick. No passion, no flair, not even a smile in combat. I'm going to beat that face right!” Sabine just snorted “Such idle threats do not concern me. You lack the skill to defeat me." Ryuko didn’t waste any time, and swung her sword behind her and charged in, kicking sand up behind her. The first sword swing was blocked, the cracking of blades inaudible over the cheers of the crowd. Ryuko deftly avoided Sabine’s counter attack, lunging again. The two exchanged thunderous blows, each so skilled in their craft that it entertained and thrilled. Blood was spilled, as swords made glancing blows against flesh. This stalemate lasted nearly an hour, the two sweating under the harsh arena lights. The difference in training began to show though. Ryuko began to tire. Her moves grew sluggish. Sabine looked to her master, the Jiralhanae responding with a nod. Sabine danced around a clumsy blow, and delivered a knee to her stomach, knocking the wind from her. As she doubled over, gasping for air, the final blow came. The hilt of the sword was smashed into the back of her head. Crashing to the ground, Ryuko could only hear booes over the ringing in her ears. The last thing she saw was Sabine just walking away. Closing her eyes, she gave into the shame, and then to unconsciousness. She was broken.
The second way in which a peson can be broken is if the challice of their mind literally shatters as was the case with Daemon Sadi . Though he did not lose his Black power, he was thrown head first into the Twisted Kingdom. Until the pieces of a person's mind are put back together- and it is not always possible- that person will remain trapped in the Twisted Kingdom.
  • by Janikaa In her dreams, she was falling. It was more or less what she always dreamed these days. Sometimes she hit the bottom, and sometimes she didn't. The nights that she didn't, those were the nights that weren't so bad. Janikaa rose, rubbing her dark-skinned face with both hands, her palm moving over the long scar that extended the line of her mouth out to an expression that parodied a permanent, deep frown. Going to her bags, she washed briefly and then dressed, smoothing the lines of her dark, simple dress absently. She set her white hair up and out of her face, her movements spare and her eyes fixed on nothing in particular. She did not use a mirror, and there were none to be found in her room. Without further adornment, she gathered her things and went out to the shores of the lake near the Exodar. Eyes closed, two fingers held to her lips in almost a hushing gesture, Janikaa moved her other arm in a slow arc parallel to the surface of the water below. Water was the newest element to come at her call under the instruction of the Broken ones who had brought the art to their people. Under her guidance, the water started to rush in whorls and eddies around the base of the thick totem planted at the shore, and healing energy trickled in small rivulets through her skin. Healing didn't come as easily now as it did when she called the Light, but she would not do that any longer. Stirring slightly, she regarded the water through half-lidded eyes and began again, trying to deepen her concentration. If it was not as easy, then she would simply have to try harder. A soft rumble from her stomach distracted her, reminding her that she had to eat. She quickly chewed a few mouthfuls of bread, the taste and the texture of it going unnoticed, and drank a bit of water. She returned to her rituals. Janikaa scattered a pinch of sand over the page of her duty log to keep the fresh ink from sticking to the opposite page as she closed the book, in it a simple account of her practicing her calling of the elements. There was nothing else that had happened of note today. Soon they would be gathering to raid the Orcs giving the Humans problems in their town of Redridge. She would be there to close wounds and provide support. She pondered, briefly, the Hand as it was these days, the state of the unit. They had adequate force. There would likely not be problems. Likely the only matters of concern would be in the very different people and personalities coming together to work as one, but those would work themselves out for the most part. They often did. If need be, she could take people aside and remind them of their duty and their obligations. She sat for a few moments, at a loss for something else to do and watching her hands. At length, she gathered some scraps of leather from her bags, a thick needle and strong thread, and started to work the pieces together. Her eyes followed the movements of the needle without expression. They'd slaughtered the men first, eviscerating them where they stood. Somewhere near the edge of the Lower City, Tanvir's head was on a pike. He had tried to buy them time...it had not been enough. Next they had eliminated their future enemies, throwing the children off the rise. Tearing them from their mothers' arms, laughing about how their screams had sounded like the slaughter of pigs. And then the women they saved for last, to amuse themselves with. Well after the sun had set outside, Janikaa performed her morning preparations in reverse in the small room she had come to occupy in the Exodar. She took down her hair and changed into a plain white nightdress, her hands absently smoothing the lines of it. She ate another few mouthfuls of bread, drank a bit more water, and laid down, watching the ceiling for a while before she drifted off to sleep. The Light's greatest betrayal was that she was still alive. In her dreams, she was falling.
