  • Also known as mr Anderson, Charles Anderson and The Ferryman Traditionalist lore claims him to be the ferryman to the underworld. Claims to be the `ghost' of mr. Charles Anderson. Who was killed during the mission Don't Fear The Reaper Pt. 2. Twice actually, by agent Jane. He does not seem to mind. Traditionalist lore notwithstanding, he does hold major influence in entropic space, and is capable of mimicking Inspired Science, mostly with respect to Dimensional Science and Entropy.

  • Charon (aka the Ferryman, the Boatman and sometimes Death) is a grim and silent ghoul who carries the dead across the River Styx, River of Death, and the Poisoned Lake in Kolyma. Known as Father Death in some of Daventry's legends he is an entity that comes to take souls and cause death. In the Dimension of Death he takes on a incorporeal form, and ferries those across the River of Death in his ghostly boat.
  • In Greek mythology, Charon was a ferryman who would guide deceased souls to the underworld in exchange for a golden coin (the exact cost depended on how many souls went per trip, e.g. it would cost ten golden coins for ten souls to go in one trip).

  • According to Greek mythology, Charon is the one and only "ferryman of hell", and tasked to bring souls into hell. While in Grimgrimmoire, Charon acts as a means of transport for familiars under Necromancy, by taking them in it's boat. While it can carry a number of familiars simultaneously, they are to be in astral form, thus it converts non-astral familiars into astrals before letting them take the ride. Charon cannot carry massive familiars like dragons or chimeras. Same as the Obelisk, it acts a supportig role during battle, being unable to launch attacks. Charon should be counterred with Homunculus's Psychic storm before it is able to drop off its troops. One they have established a beachead within the player's base, the consequences would be devastating.

  • As the makers of the Charon, the Caldari State are generally credited with pioneering the freighter class. Recognizing the need for a massive transport vehicle as deep space installations constantly increase in number, they set about making the ultimate in efficient mass transport - and were soon followed by the other empires. Regardless, the Charon still stands out as the benchmark by which the other freighters were measured. Its massive size and titanic cargo hold are rivalled by none.

Da steht in griechischen Buchstaben Charon. „I hunt those who have fallen to darkness.” Kategorie:Mittellang Kategorie:Artikel ohne Bilder Kategorie:Mord Kategorie:Kreaturen
  • Charon was the guardian of the river between the Great Underground Empire and Hades, the land of the dead. A skeleton with a red hat, he was oarsman of a large boat made of bones. He charged a flat rate of two zorkmids for passage. He accepted exact change only. Charon would ferry any passenger across the river in either direction until they had passed through the gates of Hades, at which point he would refuse passage entirely.

In the catabasis mytheme, heroes — such as Heracles and Dionysus — journey to the underworld and return, still alive, conveyed by the ferry of Charon.

Those who are dying place a gold coin under their tongue or over thier eyes so that their souls would have a coin in order to pay the ferryman.

  • A major altraloth is Charon (also known as Cerlic), the boatman of the River of Blood, who ferries souls down the River for a steep price. • The Charon was the demonym to refer to individuals that formed the populace of the Charon Dominion. Originally, the term "Charon" referred to a species as opposed to a people, not unlike the evolution of the term "Sith", which changed from the referring to a species, to the inclusion of a group of people following a code of religious beliefs. Formerly a species from the world of Kathol, the Charr Ontee, they eventually degenerated into the Charon after a cataclysmic event known as the Great Collapse broke down the barrier between realspace and Otherspace. Stranded, the Charr Ontee eventually warped into the Charon though unknown means, and ultimately declared a catastrophic war against all life in their galaxy. At some point during the Charon Civil War, the rediscovery of the galaxy had occurred, evidenced by the creation of the Hellmouth. By that time, the Charon had already taken subjugated and enslaved multiple species found to be of worth, addressed as "vassal races", to form other military foundations in their Zealot Caste. Small incursions, in which the Charon managed to pass from Otherspace to the galaxy, had enabled them to take and make into slaves several races of the realspace galaxy, including Humans. After centuries of failure in attacking the galaxy on the part of the original Charon species, including failing to secure a permanent method of passage between Otherspace and the galaxy, the Charon species enacted a species-wide ritual suicide, known as the Rite of Kenosis, which would catapult a new vassal race to take dominance. Composed of two aspects, in the Embrace, the Charon species gave their final command to their vassal races, which following their suicides, would begin the Ascent, the warring of the species to determine which was most fit to become the new dominant race to carry out the will of oblivion. It was in this conflict that Humans ultimately arose as the superior species, with more Voidborn than any of the other vassal races. In their ascension, the descendants of the enslaved Humans took on the name of their former masters, becoming "the Charon". Because of this, it was typically the Humans that descended from the slaves abducted to Otherspace centuries before the Extant War that were usually referred to as Charon, due to being the leaders of the Charon Dominion. However, unlike the species, the title of Charon was applied to all who followed the creeds of the Void of Oblivion. The Charon thus because the name which would apply to all individuals who followed their namesake's ideals, philosophies and desires for oneness with the Void. By the time of the Extant War, approximately twelve different species made up the Charon people.

  • The Charon are a bloodthirsty sentient species with both humanoid and arachnoid features. They have four arms, two of which are extremely powerful, and four legs, which make them very stable on their feet. They are known for their violent, emotionless nature. Originally descended from the Charr Ontee, the Charon came into being after a group of Charr Ontee found themselves in Otherspace in an event known as the Rift Disaster. The survivors of this disaster moved to a cold, bleak planet and developed into the Charon are they are known today. Prior to 11 ABY, Charon were confined to Otherspace, where most Charon followed a death cult which held the existence of all life, even their own species, to be an abomination. Their contact with the civilizations of the galaxy was limited, but it was enough to make them objects of horror. Shortly after the destruction of the second Death Star in 4 ABY, a splinter group of Charon devoted to maintaining peace and setting up new communities successfully constructed the species’ first hyperdrive and departed Otherspace, with many Charon taking up positions as bioscientists, developing bioorganic technology for peaceful applications. Unfortunately, by 17 ABY, the Cult of Light was targeted by a Darksider organization known as the Cult of Shadow and was wiped out. The Charon of the Cult of Death currently remain stuck in Otherspace...

  • Charon was floating and talking to the ghost of Jackson Ward, a man executed for murder decades ago. Ward was very determined to get off the rock of Alcatraz, but Charon said he was never going to leave, because if he has not been able to leave now, there would be no way in the present or in the future. She said he had been stuck there for 36 years living between life and death. Jackson walked through the cell door and stated that he was now able to break the physical plane, and prepare for his revenge, which was to kill those who executed and convicted him to death. Charon replied by saying that wanting revenge was mortal, Jackson hastily replied "Go to hell." It was then revealed that Charon wanted a witch's soul, saying they were like trophies. She said she wanted Jackson off the island so witches would come after him, leaving them vulnerable to her. The prison gate doors opened, Charon took a sniff, and she sensed a witch was coming: Phoebe. Indeed, the youngest Halliwell sister was visiting the rock. The prison guide guided them down the long wall of cells and said that one of the prisoners still haunted the prison as to this day. He called Jackson "The Ghost Of Alcatraz". The guide opened the door to the cell Jackson Ward and Charon were standing in and stepped inside although nobody saw them. Charon fiercely waved her hand at the guide and he instantly died and fell to the floor, Charon said Jackson should climb inside him, and it will be his ride off the island.

  • Charon (Pronounced Kare-on) (Χαράσσονταςφύλακαςπυλών, Geeco-Dorkugese for "Hackers Gate Keeper") is the administrator of the Hacker's Underworld, particularly at its gate. He's also one of the most serious penguins ever known, and has never laughed. As one hacker put it: "Charon can only speak in Leet (like Captain Str00del), but unlike Str00del, he has no sense of humor and takes his job very seriously. His emotes are always serious, and he types in >:( , never :) . It's rather depressing."

  • Charon, the first Ferryman and only Emperor of Stygia, is one of the most pivotal figures in Wraith: The Oblivion. Originally from the ancient civilization of Mycenae, Charon is responsible for the formation of several institutions of the dead, including the Ferrymen, the city of Stygia, and the Hierarchy. Charon was chosen for this role by Fate, through its agent the Lady of Fate. When he first died, the Lady told him that he would be the way by which the restless would travel from the underworld to their final destination. Under her auspices, he performed many heroic quests, including rescuing Nhudri from the Labyrinth and the foundation of Stygia. In Stygia, Charon's headquarters were the Onyx Tower, the tallest and grandest building in Stygia. From here, bearing his scythe Siklos, he built and commanded the Dark Kingdom of Iron for around two thousand years. Like every wraith, Charon was subject to the temptation and occasional control of his Shadow. However, Charon was not just any wraith, and his Shadow had the potential to wreak more havoc than normal. Exactly which decisions made over the millennia of Stygian history were hard choices by Charon and which sadistic choices by his Shadow are open for discussion. However, it is known that as the twentieth century rolled around, he was further and further consumed by the crimes he committed, slipping regularly into madness and despair. This internal struggle culminated in a potent castigation ritual that separated his Shadow from him; the resulting creature fled into the Labyrinth, where it became the animating force of the Malfean Gorool. In 1945, the Fifth Great Maelstrom caused Gorool to rise from the Labyrinth. Charon came forth to fight him, and ended up being dragged below the Weeping Bay, taking the beast with him. He did not return, and the kingdom of the dead fell into chaos with his departure. The Deathlords in particular were eager to take his place in charge of the Dark Kingdom of Iron. What nobody but the Lady and a few Mnemoi knew was that this, in itself, was Charon's plan. Too long corrupted by his Shadow, Charon was unable to save Stygia from the trials to come. However, as a newborn wraith, Charon would not have the skills necessary to do so either. To that end, he arranged for his memory to be held by the Mnemoi, fettered himself to the world, and cast himself into the Sunless Sea. All to be reborn and return when Stygia needed him the most. Fifty years later, it was discovered Charon had been reincarnated as an ordinary human named Charles Anderson living in London, England. He was reaped by a group of wraiths following an attack on Stygia by the Dark Kingdom of Jade. Shortly thereafter, unrelated circumstances caused the Sixth Great Maelstrom to begin; an army of Spectres took the opportunity to attack Stygia with the Maelstrom's first wave. Charon helped push them back, but he discovered much of his memories and wisdom, which he left with the Mnemoi Guild, had been lost or destroyed because their planned-out persecution had gone horribly wrong. He transcended shortly thereafter, leaving behind a small group of young wraiths to lead the remains of his kingdom.
  • Charon, or the Ferryman, was responsible for ferrying the souls of the dead across the River Styx into the Underworld. It was customary for the passengers to pay him which is why many people buried their loved ones with a coin in their mouth or over their eyes. Hercules tricked Charon into ferrying him across Styx so that he could help catch Cerberus who was loose and wreaking havoc in the Underworld. He did not have a coin to pay Charon and even stole Charon's lantern (Hercules in the Underworld). Hercules next visited the Underworld to "rescue" Persephone when Hades brought her there. Charon again ferried the hero across Styx and Hercules told him to put the ride on his "tab" (HTLJ "The Other Side"). In the Xena episode You Are There Charon mocks Hercules' status as a superhero and calls him a "super-cheapskate". When Hades brought Hercules to the Underworld to meet Timuron, Charon told a companion to "hide the lanterns" as Hercules stole Charon's lantern on a previous visit (HTLJ "Highway to Hades"). Hades told Hercules that Charon had been making some mistakes lately and indicated that he had been drinking. Charon accidentally sent the Enforcer to the Underworld even though she wasn't a mortal (HTLJ "Not Fade Away"). Charon was interviewed by Nigel in River Styx. Nigel wanted to know more about Xena and the dead victims that she had killed, of Charon (XWP "You Are There").
  • Charon is the largest moon of Pluto. The two bodies are mutually tidally-locked, meaning that they always have the same side facing each other (the same way that Luna always has the same side facing Earth).
  • Charon is the ferryman who drags souls to the Underworld, most notably arriving from a lake in Storybrooke, coming to claim Robin Hood's life when met with a Fury, then again to take all of the heroes when they're marked by past Dark Ones, and finally when the heroes team up to travel to the Underworld in order to save Captain Hook.
  • Charon was the eighth recorded Emperor of the Galaxy (July 2001 - April 2003) and one of the most influential men in Imperial history. Many disgruntled Imperial émigrés joined other key factions; thus, turning the tide of galactic opinion against Charon's usurper, Emperor Greyson Uebles and Uebles' mentor, Vodo Bonias.
  • Charon is the ferryman of the dead of Enroth, physically appearing only in Might and Magic VI. Should the Heroes of Enroth perish during their quest, he admonishes them but explains that their destiny is not fulfilled, sending them back to the land of the living (they reawaken outside New Sorpigal). However, his price is a high one: all of the party's non-banked gold is taken, and most of their equipped gear becomes damaged. In Might and Magic VII, should the Lords of Harmondale die, they emerge in a ghostly netherworld but are quickly returned to life, a disembodied voice similarly explaining that their quest is not at an end. Though Charon does not physically appear in this circumstance, the voice is identical to his. He bears a striking resemblance to Skraelos, the God of the Dead who featured in Might and Magic IX, suggesting either they are the same character, or that there is a connection between the two.
  • In Greek mythology, Charon was the ferryman of Hades. Featured in the story of "Orpheus and Eurydice", he took the newly dead from one side of the river Acheron to the other. • -Virgil, 1st Century B.C. Marked on Charon's cryotube. Charon is a minor enemy that makes only a single appearance throughout Code Genesis in the experimental testing lab of Isle Alexandria and no others of this type are seen at all afterwards. It resembles that of the Iron Maiden creature type featured in Resident Evil 4, though it's true origins remain unknown. It is a large creature that stands well above that of a normal human and shares physical traits with that of one as well with a few obvious differences. The creature possesses a tattered, human-like mouth and a pair of pale, white eyes; sickly white skin and many long, pointed spikes protruding from its body. It has long, sharp nails and toes. It is a modified version of a B.O.W. that makes an eerie, human - like moaning sound and grips its head, staggering around the player in a very uncontrollable manner. Its body seems to spasm uncontrollably in pain due to the spikes that jut wildly through its flesh. If the player is lucky enough to draw close to it, one would witness that Charon's spikes are actually bone fragments from either its body or from mutation effects. It is safe to kill these creatures at a distance and they only make a single appearance in the labs of Isle Alexandria; they are considered to be an unfinished project. It can be shot with a handgun several times and it has no clear effect on it. It is a very slow B.O.W. and can be avoided simply by keeping a reasonably safe distance in the room where it appears. It uses its spikes to attack and will also swing its arms about in an attempt to tear its prey to pieces. The creature can be killed with explosives, though it requires many to do the job. It is unknown what purpose this B.O.W. would have served given the fact that it was released early from its holding tank during the chaos. In Greek mythology, Charon is the ferryman of the Underworld who carries souls of the newly deceased across the rivers Styx and Acheron that divided the world of the living from the world of the dead. Remember this: "A bazooka in the hands of a woman PMS'ing can cause mass mayhem in a zombie apocalypse." --Queen-of-the-Living-Dead 17:53, August 16, 2011 (UTC)
