- Apollo is the only Greek god to have the same name as his Roman counterpart. He is the god of music (he directed the choir of the Muses), of prophecy, colonisation, medicine, the sun, light, purity, archery (but not for war or hunting), poetry, dance, intellectual inquiry, knowledge, and also the protector of herds and flocks. He is the son of Zeus and Leto and the younger twin brother of Artemis. He was born on the island of Delos, which is sacred to him. His paternal grandparents were Cronus and Rhea. His maternal grandparents are Coeus and Phoebe (from whom he takes the ephithet "Phoebus" meaning "radiant" or "beaming"). He was sometimes identified with the sun god Helios.

| <span style | - "color: ForestGreen">Captain America]] pastiche. In one of author Mark Millar's most controversial scenes, it was implied that the beating was followed by a rape . The rape was followed by a scene of revenge in which it is implied that The Midnighter gored The Commander with a jackhammer.
In another Millar-penned story, the Authority faced a rogue Doctor, intent on planetary destruction. Though this Doctor ultimately repented his crimes, Apollo killed him with his eye-beams. Apollo featured also in the 'Transfer of Power' storyline, in which the Authority were defeated, captured, and usurped by sadistic, government-controlled replacements. Apollo was kept aboard the Carrier and brutalized by Midnighter's replacement and by his own. The latter tried to rape Apollo before the real Midnighter returned to kill Apollo's assailant. Apollo himself then burned the head off Midnighter's replacement, later doing the same to The Machine, who had taken the powers of the Engineer.
Apollo and Midnighter were married and adopted Jenny Quantum at the end of Millar's run. From this point on, Apollo is referred to as The Midnighter's husband, and vice versa.
Authority Vol 2.
Apollo received comparatively little attention during this volume, although his friendship with the Engineer was developed and the two became confidants.
Human on the Inside
In this standalone graphic novel, the U.S. President ordered an assault on The Authority which saw them nearly defeated by doubts, depression, and human foibles. Each team member's weakness was exploited; in Apollo's case this appeared to be jealousy in his relationship with Midnighter, who confessed to Apollo that he had kissed another man. Apollo, enraged, hit Midnighter hard enough to knock him through several walls. This scene remains the only canonical indication of violence between the two.
Authority: Coup D'Etat and Authority: Revolution
Following a deadly mistake by US leaders, Authority team leader Jack Hawksmoor decided that the time had come to remove the US executive branch and run the country their way. The takeover went smoothly, but the occupation did not go as planned. Shadowy forces intervened to destroy the Authority and put corporate interests back in power.
In Authority: Coup D'Etat, Apollo and Midnighter were sent to raid the base of Stormwatch: Team Achilles, only to find it booby-trapped. After narrowly escaping with their lives, their next mission was to eliminate the US military's super-human training camp. Midnighter returned with the declaration that the program was "Not so special."
In Authority: Revolution, the Midnighter received a revelation about the future which compelled him to leave The Authority permanently. He left Apollo and Jenny Quantum without an explanation and returned to the underground. Following a humiliating nuclear incident in Washington, DC, Hawksmoor resigned as President of the US and announced elections. The Authority disbanded. From 2005 to 2008, Apollo raised Jenny alone in San Francisco, under the watchful eye of the US Government.
When Jenny was eight years old, a series of events propelled her to take matters into her own hands and rebuild the team. She caused herself to jump in age to fourteen years, precipitating a verbal confrontation with her father, Apollo. With Apollo's support, she set about rounding up the surviving members of The Authority, including The Midnighter. In a painful moment between Jenny, Apollo, and Midnighter, Jenny described herself to Midnighter as "the product of a broken home."
In the battle that followed, it became clear that Henry Bendix had gained control over the Midnighter through a Trojan Horse strategy which delivered nanites into Midnighter's body. Midnighter fought with Jenny and then Apollo, regaining clarity for just long enough to beg Apollo to kill him if he got the chance. Apollo refused, and was defeated, but Jenny was able to engage Midnighter for long enough for the Engineer to remove the mind-control implants and restore Midnighter.
Alternate versions
In Wildstorm Winter Special 2005, a story called Apollo & Midnighter: Two Dangerous Ideas features their alternate reality analogues, Pluto and Daylighter, with inverted colour schemes to match. At first the real Apollo and Midnighter believed that they were their homophobic counterparts, but later learnt that they had broken up.

Apollo derives his power from solar energy, and becomes vulnerable to attack when that energy is depleted.
Of the seven-member team, only Apollo and The Midnighter, Apollo's future husband, survived. Due to circumstances surrounding the mission, they went rogue and spent the next five years undercover fighting for a finer world in the alleyways of America.
After Bendix's fall in 1998, Christine Trelane discovered files hinting at the existence of Apollo and The Midnighter. Jackson King, formerly Battalion, now the new Weatherman, ordered them found, not being sure if they were heroes or villains. Apollo and Midnighter were after weapons made in the "Nevada Garden", a leftover of the first Engineer. He ordered Fahrenheit and Hellstrike to tag them with fetishes so they could be transported into SkyWatch. Apollo and Midnighter first attacked the Stormwatch team, believing them under Bendix's orders. However, they ceased the attack once they were told Bendix was dead. With King's help, they destroyed the Nevada Garden, and Trelane gave them new lives away from Stormwatch.

Apollo participated in the Authority's early actions, producing a miles-long wall of flame to pen in cyborgs attacking London, rescuing civilians from disaster zones, and shooting down invaders from a parallel universe. In The Authority #10, Apollo - assisted by the Engineer -- sterilized the moon, killing the alien parasites that were using it as a base from which to attack earth. He formed a friendship with leader Jenny Sparks, and his relationship with Midnighter was revealed in The Authority # 8, written by Warren Ellis. For the portrayal of Apollo and Midnighter, The Authority received a GLAAD award.
The fourth Authority story arc saw Jenny Sparks die with the end of the 20th century, and the Authority join a battle with US government-backed superhumans to secure custody of her successor, Jennifer Quantum, the infant spirit of the 21st century. During this battle Apollo was severely beaten by The Commander, a [[marveldatabase:Captain America

| explanation | - Air-dash around the arena and fire your bomb everywhere. When at mid-range, fire your pod to stop your opponent from jumping. Once hit by the Umbrella Pods, your opponent will be knocked down long enough for you to freeze him with the Freeze Bomb. When your opponent gets hit by the bomb or if he is vulnerable, air-dash up close and fire the Knuckle Gun a few times with a ground shot. Afterwards, use Apollo's Charge to send your opponent flying. If you're fast enough, after the combo you can even air-dash to your opponent again and get in a few more Knuckle shots.
- The strategy is simple. Jump, Dodge, Shoot. Apollo is fast enough to escape from most attacks. You can then counterattack your opponent with Flare Gun. If fired at a certain distance, you can hit Flare Gun's sweet spot to deal around 300 damage. A good combo is to throw pods over the opponent, fire your gun, then finish off with the bomb. Flare Gun will push your opponent back into the pods. The combo works in a straight line and deals a great amount of damage. This set works best on lava stages because the Flare Gun and Apollo's Charge can knock the opponent into the lava for extra damage.
- This set was designed simply to help players with the mission where you need to perform a combo for over 300 damage. I do not recommend using it otherwise as it has a relatively short overall range. The combo for over 300 damage is as follows: Shoot bomb as you run towards opponent, and follow with a Buster shot. Finish with a blast from the Magnum, preferably near a wall.
- A good combo with this set is to run towards your opponent and fire the bomb, and follow up with the pod. This launches them into the air, leaving an opening for you to fire at them with the gun. If one wishes, they could also use the Flare Gun or the Crushing Bomb as replacements in this set for slightly differing effects.
- Spread out your pods, and place the bomb to prevent jumping. Charge and dash to medium or close range and let loose with the gun. If you miss, the opponent may still crash into your bombs or pods.

- Apollo is the only Greek god to have the same name as his Roman counterpart. He is the god of music (he directed the choir of the Muses), of prophecy, colonisation, medicine, the sun, light, purity, archery (but not for war or hunting), poetry, dance, intellectual inquiry, knowledge, and also the protector of herds and flocks. He is the son of Zeus and Leto and the younger twin brother of Artemis. He was born on the island of Delos, which is sacred to him. His paternal grandparents were Cronus and Rhea. - The Apollo is the annexed counterpart to the Thor siege-walker. One of the most highly guarded secrets found was the existence of the Dominion's Odin Project. With corporate spies connected to practically all the major Terran governments and military facilities, aquiring data on the giant mech was easy for expert hackers. Although incomplete, many R&D divisions went to work reverse engineering the blueprints for their own purposes. After multiple secret simulations and field tests, nearly every major faction that uses Terran robotic support had their own version of the Thor series heavy assault mech. Dubbed the Apollo from Terran Mythology, these mechs appear less armored and more smoother than their counterparts. This is due to the presence of plasma shielding rather than tons of heavy armor plating for greater speed and maneuverability. Energy channelers based off Soul Hunter lighting guns replace the particle accelerators on each arm for greater power and efficency. Each arm fires bolts of highly charged plasma with twice the force of an Archon. Small ground and air enemy units are slaughtered by the dozen when facing an Apollo-class mech. Prehaps the most dangerous part of the Thor's armament are the 250mm Cannons. When deployed, Thors can lay waste to enemy bases within seconds. To counter this, Apollo's use modified Photon cannons to channel huge amounts of cosmic energy and create a miniature star above them for a set amount of time (Megaman: Pharaoh Shot; Dragonball Z: Spirit Bomb). The star's stability is further enforced by psionic manipulators in the unit's arms until it achieves a sphere-like shape (Naruto: Rasengan). This artificial star has twice destructive potential as the most recent versions of the Yamato Gun, but with a longer charge time. Another flaw in this attack is that it takes all power from shields and weaponry to keep the artificial star stable. Within this time limit, enemy units can try to destroy the unit while the mech is charging the attack. To compensate for these problems, the artifical star's gravitational pull attracts all types of ranged attacks into itself. Only heavy melee and kamikaze attackers have a chance to damage an Apollo, while its vulnerable. Even If enemies succeed in destroying the mech, the collected energy will destabilize and explode leaving nothing but a large crater in the area it was gathered. The following explosions also create an EMP shockwave capable of disabling plasma shields of an entire Protoss base. This makes it easier to lay siege to enemies dependent on energy shielding. Special abilities:
* Prominence - unit loses all shield energy and creates a mini-sun above it with 600 (+200 vs buildings) explosive damage to both ground and air targets. Enemy ranged attacks are immediately neutralized until unit is finished attacking or is destroyed. If unit is destroyed in the middle of forming the star, the energy gathered explodes with 250 (+150 vs buildings) explosive splash damage in the area formed. Once Prominence explodes, an EMP shockwave drains all Energy and Plasma Shields in area to zero
- Apollo (太陽神 Apollo? lit. "Sun God"), alongside Luna, are the leaders of the alien robots who came to Earth seeking for the energy of plants to bring back to their planet in the game Rockman Strategy. When Apollo and his group arrive on Earth, the first person they meet is Dr. Wily. Wily convinces the aliens to help him conquer the world by saying that's the only way to save their home. By using their alien technology, they start to drain energy from plants around the world, making them rapidly grow and wither. Wily uses this to blackmail the world, saying that if his demands are not met, all plants, and in the process, all living beings would die. Dr. Light sends Mega Man, Auto, Eddie and Beat to investigate the situation and stop Dr. Wily. After discovering the involvement of the aliens, Mega Man tries to talk with them. The aliens wish no harm, and when they ask if there is a better solution to their problem, Wily takes control over Apollo and Luna, forcing them to fight against the heroes. Apollo is accompanied in battle by Heat Man and Knight Man. After their defeat, they all go after Dr. Wily, putting an end to his scheme, and the two aliens are sent to Dr. Light's Laboratory. Months later, Dr. Light finished repairing the aliens. They learn several cultivation methods and are given seeds to use in their planet, allowing them to recover their planet.

- Apollo (Christopher Boyd) first joined the Creatures Community after purchasing Creatures 2 Deluxe. He was disheartened by CL's demise and briefly left the community. He formerly owned a website called The Daily Omelette which he hardly ever used. He had created agents for Creatures 3 and Docking Station such as the Vibraphone and the Egg Texturer and was working on a couple other projects as well like his World Switcher update. Some of his agents and scripts can be found on his site . Apollo can occasionally be found hanging out in Sine. Current Projects: Improving the overall functionality of DS. (GUI, World Switcher, and such -- below is a link for tinted creature heads in the GUI!) Making a website... at some point. - Apollo is a heavyweight robot which competed in Series 8-9 of Robot Wars. In Series 8, it won the UK Championship by defeating Carbide in the Grand Final, becoming the first UK Champion since Panic Attack to win the series in which it debuted. It was one of two robots to flip another robot out of the arena in the new arena, and also flipped three of the four House Robots. It reached its Heat Final in Series 9, but fell to its rival Carbide, requiring the wildcard position to reach its second Grand Final before being immobilised by Aftershock. Apollo was built by Team MAD, consisting of Dave Young, Marc Dermott, and originally Ben Bacon. Team MAD's usual captain, Alan Young, owns Apollo and competes with it at Robots Live! events, which are run by Team MAD. However, Alan Young could not be a member of Apollo's team in Series 8, due to his involvement with the production of the programme. Team MAD had previous experience on Robot Wars with various featherweight and antweight robots.
- The Apollo is the fourth 304 produced by the United States of America, and the third operated by the United States Air Force, assigned to the Second Tactical Wing. Like its sister ship, the Daedalus, it was deployed to the Pegasus galaxy shortly after its commissioning and provided assistance to the Atlantis expedition there. Following this, the Apollo seemed to be mainly stationed on Earth while servicing Atlantis occasionally.
- Apollo was one of the omnipotent Beings who visited Earth thousands of years ago (specifically, in the year 2500 B.C.) and were worshiped as the Greek gods.
