- What does the American Dream mean today? For Niko Bellic, fresh off the boat from Europe, it is the hope he can escape his past. Anyway, the game certainly takes advantage of the new hardware (whichever hardware that may be) to the fullest - character models are much more detailed and animated along with just about everything else.
- In order to enter cheats on GTA IV, press up on your controller to bring up your phone. Press up again so you can dial the numbers. Enter any of the codes below (there's no limit to how many cheats you can activate) and vehicles spawn in front of you, you recieve your weapons or whatever, depending on the cheat you activate. Also, to save you having to dial numbers over and over again, a cheat menu will appear in your phone and you can just select the cheat you want as long as you've dialed it once.

Grand Theft Auto IV a fost lansat in toată lumea (cu excepţia Japoniei) pe data de 29 aprilie 2008 atât pentru PlayStation 3 cât şi pentru Xbox 360. Pe PC jocul s-a lansat pe data de 2 Decembrie 2008 în America, iar pe 3 Decembrie 2008 în Europa şi în restul lumii. Acţiunea are loc în Liberty City, un oras inspirat din New York, si urmăreşte povestea lui Niko Bellic, un veteran supravieţuitor al Razboiului Bosniei sosit in Statele Unite ale Americii in căutarea "visului american" numai pentru a-şi găsi vărul, care l-a minţit în legătură cu bogăţiile care aveau să îl aştepte. Modul Multiplayer a;Grand Theft Auto IV conţine cincisprezece stiluri diferite de joc. Guinness World Records a confirmat că jocul Grand Theft Auto IV a devenit cel mai bine vândut produs din lume, depăşind vânzările celui mai bine vândut film, joc sau carte care deţinea recordul pana atunci. Asta dupa ce doar in prima zi dupa lansarea GTA IV in 29 aprilie 2008 s-au vandut peste 3,6 milioane de exemplare in intreaga lume care au generat incasari de 310 milioane de dolari. În prima săptamănă de la lansarea lui GTA IV incasările au depasit 500 de milioane de dolari. Prin comparaţie, cel mai bine vândut joc video de până la GTA IV a fost Halo 3, produs de Microsoft, care a generat 170 de milioane de dolari în prima zi de la lansare. GTA IV a devansat totodată, şi cel mai bine vandut film, Spiderman 3 care în prima zi de rulare în cinematografe a avut încasări de 60 de milioane de dolari, dar şi cea mai rapid vândută carte: Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows care a avut încasări de 220 de milioane de dolari in primele 24 de ore de la lansare.

In seguito all'affondamento di una nave, Niko è costretto ad abbandonare l'imbarcazione e viene per questo incolpato ingiustamente dell'incidente da Ray Bulgarin. Niko prende allora la decisione di fuggire a Liberty City, dove abita suo cugino Roman, attirato anche dalle speranzose e-mail pervenutegli proprio da Roman, nelle quali la vita in America viene descritta come piena di lussi, benessere e soprattutto opportunità. Niko viene inoltre a sapere che il responsabile del tradimento durante la guerra abita anch'esso a Liberty City, quindi la fuga in America è un'occasione per chiudere una volta per tutte i conti col passato. Sbarcato a Liberty City, Niko viene accolto da Roman che lo accompagna nella sua casa. Giunto nell'abitazione di Roman, Niko comprende che le promesse del cugino sono in realtà delle menzogne: la sfarzosa villa tanto decantata altro non è che uno sporco monolocale, l'auto sportiva è in realtà un taxi sgangherato mentre Roman è solo un povero imprenditore pesantemente indebitato. In particolare Roman ha debiti con una banda di strozzini albanesi e con Vlad, un luogotenente della Mafia Russa. Niko decide allora di aiutare Roman nell'impresa di famiglia, la "Bellic Enterprise", una ditta che offre servizio taxi. Sempre per aiutare il cugino nell'appianare i debiti, Niko lavora anche per Vlad, che gli affida l'incarico di intimidire i negozianti che si rifiutano di pagare il pizzo. Niko fa la conoscenza di Mallorie, la fidanzata e futura moglie di Roman, e di Michelle, un'amica di Mallorie che Niko comincerà a frequentare. Quando però scopre che Vlad intrattiene un rapporto amoroso con Mallorie Niko decide, nonostante la disapprovazione del cugino, di uccidere Vlad. Dopo averlo inseguito in auto, Niko raggiunge Vlad, il quale viene brutalmente ucciso e il corpo gettato nel fiume. La Mafia Russa decide di vendicare l'uccisione di Vlad e Niko e Roman vengono rapiti e portati nella casa di Mr. Faustin, il boss che controlla la zona sud di Broker. Fuastin sceglie di risparmiare i due perchè considera Niko Bellic un valido collaboratore: Niko comincia quindi a lavorare per Faustin e per il suo socio Dimitri Rascalov, dimostrando di meritare la fiducia riposta nei suoi confronti. Dimitri decide però di ingannare Niko e lo convince ad uccidere Faustin, che aveva fatto assassinare il figlio di Kenny Petrovic, altro importante rappresentate della malavita russa. Niko si fida di Dimitri e si reca al "Perestroika", il club privato di Faustin, dove uccide Faustin e i suoi scagnozzi. Dimitri invita quindi Niko ad una vecchia fabbrica per discutere del suo compenso; grazie ad una soffiata dell'amico Little Jacob, Niko scopre che Dimitri lo ha imbrogliato e tradito e che è un fedele amico di Ray Bulgarin. Bulgarin è ancora convinto che Niko lo abbia derubato, per questa ragione lui e l'amico Dimitri tentano di ucciderlo; ma Niko riesce a far fuori tutti i loro scagnozzi e a fuggire dalla fabbrica con Little Jacob. I russi incendiano la casa e il deposito di taxi di Roman, Niko e Roman sono così costretti a trovar rifugio a "Bohan", presso la casa di un parente di Mallorie. A Bohan Niko lavora per Manny Escuela e per Elizabeta Torres, una spacciatrice portoricana. Fa poi conoscenza di Playboy X, un gangster che abita ad "Algonquin". L'attività di spaccio a Bohan viene però scoperta dalla polizia grazie a Michelle, che si scopre essere un agente del governo che per tutto il tempo aveva seguito i movimenti di Niko fingendosi un'amica di Mallorie. Michelle è inoltre la collaboratrice di un'importante testata giornalistica di Liberty City, lo "United Liberty Paper"; sotto ricatto Niko viene obbligato a lavorare per il direttore del giornale che gli promette in cambio di aiutarlo nella ricerca dell'uomo che aveva tradito Niko in guerra. Intanto Niko conosce per mezzo di Patrick McReary, con cui aveva svolto alcune mansioni per Elizabeta Torres, Ray Boccino, un mafioso italo-americano imparentato con la famiglia dei "Pegorino". Niko diventa un collaboratore di Ray, che si impegna anch'egli ad aiutarlo nella ricerca del suo "uomo". In seguito Niko verrà presentato da Ray anche ad altri due membri della famiglia: Phil Bell e il boss Jimmy Pegorino, per entrambi dei quali Niko svolgerà importanti missioni. Nel frattempo Niko stringe amicizia con Patrick e il resto della numerosa famiglia McReary, in particolare comincerà a frequentare la sorella di Packie Kate McReary, con la quale sarà legato da un profondo legame affettivo. Proprio grazie a Ray, Niko riesce a rintracciare Florian Cravic, che nel frattempo ha cambiato identità, facendosi ora chiamare Bernie Crane. L'incontro non dà però gli effetti desiderati: Florian non è il responsabile del tradimento ed egli è fuggito in America solo in quanto omosessuale che non era accettato in patria. Niko ha però un'altra soffiata dal direttore del "United Liberty Paper", che ha scoperto dove si trova l'altro superstite, Darko Brevic, e lo ha condotto da Niko. Anche stavolta però Niko rimane deluso: Darko è solo un drogato disperato che ha tradito il proprio plotone per pochi dollari. Al giocatore spetterà la scelta di ucciderlo o di risparmiarlo. Nel frattempo Jimmy Pegorino è riuscito a raggiungere un importante accordo con Dimitri Rascalov e la Mafia Russa e a Niko viene chiesto di fare da tramite tra le due parti. In cambio gli viene offerta un'ingente somma di denaro. Per il giocatore si aprono dunque due differenti finali...

It was also, thanks to a famous slip-up by Sony over renewing their previous contract with Rockstar for exclusive publishing rights, the first entry to get a simultaneous Multi Platform release, as well as the first to have downloadable content (timed exclusive to the 360 version - Microsoft made out like a bandit, they did). Anyway, the game certainly takes advantage of the new hardware (whichever hardware that may be) to the fullest - character models are much more detailed and animated along with just about everything else. One of the biggest changes, if not the biggest and most important change, from previous installments is IV's ability to take advantage of the Internet connectivity that virtually all next-gen consoles have built in. That's right, GTA now has multiplayer. A number of game modes are offered, including classic deathmatch and team deathmatch along with team-based co-op missions. There's even a simple open sandbox mode so you can run around Liberty City doing whatever you want with your friends or complete strangers. Before the game's release, Rockstar signed a $50 million deal with Microsoft to produce two downloadable expansion packs exclusively for the Xbox 360 in 2009. Of course, this was a major flashpoint in the Console Wars. The first of the two was released in March, while the second one was released at the end of October. - In order to enter cheats on GTA IV, press up on your controller to bring up your phone. Press up again so you can dial the numbers. Enter any of the codes below (there's no limit to how many cheats you can activate) and vehicles spawn in front of you, you recieve your weapons or whatever, depending on the cheat you activate. Also, to save you having to dial numbers over and over again, a cheat menu will appear in your phone and you can just select the cheat you want as long as you've dialed it once. NOTE!
