The Oda army hold off Dong Zhuo's forces at Tong Gate, long enough for Sakon to complete his mission to tell Sun Ce on where Sun Jian might be. At Guan Du, the Owari lord attacks the castle held by Da Ji. After the fighting, they here that in their distraction efforts, Kenshin Uesugi and Shingen were killed. The Oda forces next head to Fan Castle to face off with Cao Pi and an angry Xiahou Dun. With things going according to the Oda, Orochi sends a massive army in a full scale assault at Wu Zhang Plains. When victory for the demons seemed at hand, Shingen and Kenshin arrive and save the day. The united clans set out to finish Orochi at Koshi Castle and in the battle's aftermath, prepare themselves for another era of war.

While they numbered less than 10% of Japan's population samurai teachings can still be found today in both everyday life and in martial arts such as Kendō, meaning the way of the sword.

The o-yoroi was often richly decorated - for example, elaborate masks - often depicting Oni to scare their opponents - were worn as faceguards, while the chest may be decorated with an ornamental clan crest. On their backs, Samurai often attached "war flags" in battle. These flags were signalling devices with certain pictoral codes or text, that would communicate to other parts of the military force - for example the ashigaru, light infantry - the current orders given. They were armed with a japanese longsword, called a Katana, but also fought with polearms from horseback, such as Yari or Naginata spears, all tactics familiar from cavalry elsewhere. They did not however use a shield - the use of shields in general was very uncommon in Japan, with the exception of large, movable shields that served as 'gun emplacements' for archers (and later Arquebusiers) on the battlefield. Unlike the knights of Europe, Archery, both on foot and mounted, played a great part in the training and military doctrine of the samurai. Samurai swords are renowned in popular culture to be excessively sharp and powerful, and this may have some truth in it, vis-a-vis the armament used in Europe at the time. In other words, Samurai would have an advantage in the attack compared to knights, while being disadvantaged in a 'tanking' situation, relying on their weaker armor and their parrying techniques with their exceptionally long sword, for which various stances were developed to maximize the effect of a defensive posture. As player characters, Samurai are generally characterized by their ability to equip Katanas (which are usually the best regular swords in their respective game) and polearms, and their high attack and defense stats. Their armor tends to be lower than that of the Knight, Paladin or Warrior classes, often only matching the Archer class (often with Samurai-only armor sets consisting of Scale armor and Kabuto). The Samurai is also tenuously associated with the ability to use OverDrive up to three times in a row when the OverDrive bar has filled up, either the same skill or different ones. This makes samurais amazing damage dealers in a high-OD role. It was not certain what the OverDrive of the Samurai would even be - for awhile, it was thought it would simply be a skillset of increasingly powerful special attacks - similar to the Grappler's Combo, except that there would be no Skill Activation needed. According to the September 2012 Revision, the OverDrive is "Blade Soul", special techniques that vary with the weapon equipped. The Triple-OverDrive would then factor in by allowing the use of three successive sword techniques, which would, depending on the techniques used, link with each other in certain ways to form a combination attackwith himself - making the Samurai a sort of Grappler with a sword, but without the complex triggers. A further part of the revision came up with the problem that each katana would have to grant several techniques so that they could be combined in different ways. The revision then established that this was not necessary - that the skills would instead become part of the permanent skill repertoire of the samurai after being used repeatedly, granting over time an ever-increasing repertoire of different sword techniques. Another part of the revision established that perhaps, the system of not consuming the OverDrive with the first technique would be hard to code in RPG Maker VX without scripting experience. It then established that maybe triple OverDrive was not needed - perhaps double would suffice, forming a combination of two techniques. However, the amount of OverDrives could perhaps increase with level, eventually even exceeding the triple OverDrive originally intended, so that a Lv 99 Samurai would perhaps be able to use a long sequence consisting of multiple techniques. The skillset itself was finally definitely called "Bushido", and consists of various other abilities beyond the OverDrive.

Forced to flee, as his phaser was inoperable, Sulu escaped from the katana blade the samurai wielded. They were completely loyal to their leader and would obey orders-even if it meant their death. They wore black versions of Cardassian battle armor with red sashes that signified the blood they had sworn to their leader. It is not known if this class of warriors existed solely under Kirk or if they were already present within the Terran Empire, considering its altered militaristic nature. (TOS novel: Dark Victory)

- Strength & Charisma are key Samurai stats, so in general pick races that help with this. Races that give bonuses to Dexterity are generally not as desireable, as you won’t need it for TWF and can’t use a high Dex to full effect in full armor. Azurin: Probably the best race for Samurai if you’re using Magic of Incarnum – the Essentia pool and bonus feat really help. Dwarves: By OA rules, Samurai is a favored class. Yes, they didn’t mean this Samurai, but I’m not the one who puts out different classes with the same name, so don’t yell at me. Use Dream or Gold Dwarf (-2 Dex, instead of Charisma) Goliath: Bonus to Strength and the use of large-sized weapons are both good. The Powerful Build feature may also help with Intimidate, as it’s an opposed check influenced by Size. You’d lose Frightful Presence, but you could’ve taken that as a feat earlier than Level 20 anyway. Half-Orc: Bonus to Strength is nice, and the Half-Orc Paragon class (Unearthed Arcana) can give you Rage and an Intimidation-boosting ability. Human: Obviously. Favored class (any) and bonus feat can help a lot. Human Paragon can give you Iajutsu Focus as Class Skill. Illumian: Can be useful for the Aesh Sigil, which grants a modest bonus to weapon damage if you have focus in that weapon. Maenad (XPsi): Favored class wilder, and the Outburst ability works nicely.

The prentice Samurai along with a small number of seniors go off to the Unclean Ones' Country to track down the Black Samurai. If talked to, he will give Flynn the confiscated keycards left behind by Tayama, allowing re-entry into Reverse Hills. After the alignment lock, he will have found the the mediums of the defeated National Defense Divinities Tayama had been using to control them, and will hand them over to Flynn.

- Toshio Eto was a professor of history in Japan. One day, the Gods of New Genesis gave him superhuman powers in the hope that they could use him as an instrument in their never-ending battle against Darkseid. Calling himself the Samurai, Toshio had the ability to create a powerful whirlwind that surrounded the lower half of his body, providing him with increased locomotion and speed. He could use this whirlwind to propel himself through the air for directional flight. Toshio used these powers in the service of mankind and later became a member of the Super Friends. At first, he spent his career fighting against Lex Luthor's Legion of Doom, but later he and his colleagues committed themselves to combating Darkseid.

Rikimaru and Ayame (generally the protagonists of all the Tenchu games aside from Tenchu Z) often face levels with a majority of their opponents being unarmored and unprepared "guards" wielding either a Katana, spear or bow however in later levels they are less and less common being replaced with enemy Ninja and demons...Samurai are not trained as such that they can match the speed and graceful swiftness that a Ninja will often possess but occasionally they will use Shuriken and Caltrops oddly effectively .During war between Goda and Ogawara it became apparent that Ogawaran Samurai were far more numerous and far better trained as Goda almost always couldn't succeed in skirmishes and major battles without help from its native assassin clan: The Azuma Ninja. To that end it can be safely assumed that without its trump card Ghoda would have certainly been obliterated. On a side note not all the Samurai in the game are against you, this is uncommon however. It is unknown why in the events Tenchu Z it is stated that masterless samurai buy blunt swords from shady merchants or trade with pirates. It could be that they are unaware of the intent of their trade partners until it is to late. Unlike the player when Samurai fall in water they will die as with all enemies including enemy ninja they cannot swim and drown (This is a good way of defeating difficult opponents) . Samurai have also been leveled with the difficulty in terms of locating the player, as in the harder the difficulty the better the Samurais senses will be (in Tenchu Z anyway) it is important to note that all enemies will be subject to the same leveling. Samurai will never surrender and will die before they allow an assassin to murder their master or payee. Guards are placed in levels to ensure that the mos direct routes to the targeted person, item or objective is difficult to reach. In Tenchu Z at you progress through levels you will come across missions that have the same map with the guards placed very differently in order to add difficulty. Some guards like the Tomikichi are somewhat hidden in all the levels in the game and as a result careless or unwary players may accidentally stumble across them and be detected. As the game is set in Feudal Japan (16th Century) the majority of opponents as stated before will be Samurai who are unarmoured and not battle ready. Katana: A curved longsword used by Samurai and Samurai masters as a slashing weapon. Unlike the Ninjato it has a considerably larger damage output and striking range it however is trumped and outclassed by the Ninjatos speed and mobility. The blade is sheathed on the hip tied into the Kimono in an "upside down" fashion. Spear: A long pole like weapon with a straight blade at the end of it. The spear is a common weapon in Feudal Japan as was historically used as a response to Calvery and troop charges. In Tenchu the spear can either be used in a thrusting or slashing fashion. Like the Katana it's damage output is impressive and it has a very large striking distance, it is somewhat faster to. However Samurai/Gaurds using it are subject to lower mobility and can easily be out maneuvered. Longbow: The Samurai use a Japanese take on the common longbow, historically the Longbow was used by Calvery and archer battalions against grouped opponents and armored targets it was eventually made obsolete by the introduction of gunpowder and flintlock rifles. In the game the bow has a medium damage output and can knock you off your feet at closer range. It is slow and lacks mobility, but is balanced by its users good vision and accuracy. Archers however are very outclassed in close quarters and while being targeted by several opponents.
