| Descripción | - En el episodio Ash, Misty y Brock tuvieron que alquilar uno a Hagatha para que con su ataque profecía pudiera eliminar las ilusiones creadas por los fantasmas que habitaban el bosque que atravesaba. A la salida del bosque se lo devolvieron a Nagatha, la hermana de Hagatha.
- Ash lo capturó en el EP030. Era el líder de un problemático grupo de Grimer en Ciudad Azulona. Siempre se pone encima de Ash y del profesor Oak.
- Ash tuvo que usarlo en un examen, en el episodio . Perdió contra un Vaporeon. Conoce golpes furia .
- La capturó en el Gran Festival de Kanto, en el EP459, para que dejase de quitarle la gorra. Cuando termina su viaje en Kanto, se escapa del laboratorio del profesor Oak para ir con Ash y Pikachu a Sinnoh. Luego la intercambió en el episodio EP524 con Dawn/Maya por su Buizel.
- En el EP025 un Mankey le quitó la gorra a Ash y Mankey se enfureció cuando Ash intentó recuperarla, tras lo cual evolucionó y Ash logró capturarlo. En el EP029 tras haber ganado un concurso de boxeo, Anthony se ofreció a entrenar a Primeape y luego se lo devolvería cuando fuese campeón.
- Dawn/Maya hace un intercambio con Ash por su Aipom en el episodio EP524 porque a Buizel no le gustaban las cosas referentes a los Concursos Pokémon sino los combates.
- Ash fue visto por primera vez en una Pokémontura, con un Tauros alrededor de la Escuela Pokémon.

- Cuando era un Froakie quiso salvar al Pikachu de Ash de un manto espejo del Wobbuffet de Jessie , de esta forma se conocieron. En el EP806 se deja capturar por Ash porque le parece un buen entrenador. En el EP856 evoluciona a Frogadier combatiendo contra un Barbaracle junto al Greninja de Sanpei. En el EP903 evoluciona a Greninja en un combate contra un Bisharp en la Aldea Ninja. En el EP924 logra dominar su forma de Greninja Ash. En el EP942 se va con Z2 y Blandito/Blandín para proteger Kalos.
- Ash fue visto por primera vez montando una Pokémontura, con un Sharpedo en el mar de la Isla Melemele.
No se conocen los movimientos de Sharpedo.
- Era el "campeón del bosque" y es visto por primera vez cuando luchaba contra un Ursaring y cuando casi ganaba, falló por no usar bien plancha voladora. Entonces Ash le ayuda a mejorar ese movimiento y al final del EP839, por su valentía, le reta a un combate contra Froakie, al final quedan empatados y se deja capturar por Ash. Machamp le releva de "campeón del bosque".
- En el EP156 Ash lo captura en un bosque, al ver que era se trataba de un Noctowl muy inteligente. Es un Pokémon variocolor/brillante.
- Éstos Pokémon se dedicaban a robar comida para llevársela a un Wailmer que se encontraba perdido en unas alcantarillas en el episodio . Luego de ayudar a Wailmer a salir de donde estaba atrapado y volver al océano, Wailmer evolucionó a Wailord Luxio conoce chispa y Cola ferrea .
- Fue el segundo Pokémon capturado por Ash en Unova/Teselia en el EP664 afuera del Club de Batalla/Combate. En el EP739 evoluciona a Pignite en un combate doble contra su antiguo entrenador, Shamus, quien le había tratado mal.
- En el EP811 lo escoge entre más Rhyhorn de un recinto para una carrera de Rhyhorn. Lo aprende a montar con mucho esfuerzo. En la carrera va último, pero ningún competidor llega al final porque el Team/Equipo Rocket secuestra a todos los Rhyhorn, pero el Bunnelby de Clemont/Lem y la Fennekin de Serena los salvan.
- Ash y el grupo en el EP692 se encuentran con un Cottonee que está intentando conquistar a una Cottonee, pero otros Cottonee también lo intentan, y, como éste era muy débil en combate y siempre perdía, no la podía conquistar, así que le pide ayuda a Ash para que le ayude a mejorar en combate. Conoce esporagodón , rizo algodón , hoja afilada y energibola .
- Este huevo era de Ash, pero en el EP050 se hizo un concurso para decidir quien se quedaba con Togepi, el cual Ash ganó. Pero cuando nació, la primera imagen que vio fue el rostro de Misty, y él la consideró su madre, por lo que Ash se lo regaló.
- Ash en el EP540 rescató a Riolu de las manos de la Cazadora J, ya que ella se lo había robado para vendérselo a sus clientes. Riolu es de un reino donde siguen la tradición de tener un Riolu que sepa el movimiento esfera aural pero un dia él es engañado por unos hombres para irse de su reino.
- Meloetta comenzó a seguir a Ash en secreto después de que él la salvara de ser aplastada en los estudio de Pokéwood en el EP744. Después Ash la rescata del Team/Equipo Rocket y finalmente se marcha con Ridley de vuelta a su hogar.
- Ash tuvo que usarlo en un examen, en el episodio . Perdió contra un Jolteon. Conoce deslumbrar y constricción .
- Ash en el EP086 se encuentra a un Lapras bebé abandonado, el cual se encariña con él cuando lo rescata de ser capturado por el Team/Equipo Rocket. Lapras le sirve como transporte a Ash a través del mar y lo ayuda en la Liga Naranja. Más tarde Ash encuentra a su manada de Lapras y lo deja al cuidado de ellos en el EP115. En Johto, en el EP259 lo vuelve a ver, pero el Lapras ya era adulto y en ese episodio se vuelve el líder de la manada.
- En el EP816 Scatterbug fue descuidado por un cazador Pokémon. Ash y los demás lo ayudan a rescatar también a los otros Spewpa. Al final, vencen al cazador y tras haber evolucionado, se marcha siendo un Vivillon con los demás Pokémon evolucionados de su especie. Conoce Tacleada , protección , disparo demora , velo sagrado y paralizador .

- Cuando era un Goomy cayó del cielo de un Swanna en la cabeza de Ash; lo veía deshidratado y fue a un río para mojarlo con agua. Como no tenía a dónde ir se dejó capturar por Ash. Era miedoso, pero en el EP865 pierde su cobardía y evoluciona a Sliggoo en un combate contra un Grumpig, y en el EP869 a Goodra bajo danza lluvia. En el EP874, Ash lo libera para que cuide a los Pokémon del pantano al cual pertenecía, pero regresa temporalmente a su equipo en el EP929 para poder participar en la Liga de Kalos, ya que Ash necesitaba seis Pokémon para las semifinales. En el EP942 es dejado en el pantano otra vez para que volviera a cuidar a sus amigos Pokémon.
- Cuando el Chimchar de Paul/Polo comenzó a perder sus combates, Paul/Polo decidió abandonarlo. Ash invita a Chimchar en el EP521 a estar en su equipo y Chimchar acepta. Evoluciona en el EP601 a Monferno en la "batalla completa" de Ash y Paul/Polo. Y finalmente, evoluciona en el EP632 a Infernape al usar otra vez su habilidad mar llamas.

- Este Litten apareció desde el EP944, quien es pisado por Ash accidentalmente, vuelve a aparecer en el EP950 donde Ash decide capturarlo, pero se descubre que cuida de la salud de un viejo Stoutland y al final del episodio huye de Ash y por ultimo hace aparición en el EP959, donde ayuda a Rowlet de Ash y a Popplio de Nereida quienes estaban perdidos, sin embargo al final del episodio cuando Ash le agradece por ayudarlos, este huye. En el EP964 le pide ayuda a Ash para auxiliar a su amigo Stoutland, pero este fallece. Entonces Ash y el profesor Kukui fueron a consolarlo. Tras una batalla amistosa con Pikachu Ash lo captura.
- Ash se encontró desde el EP513 varias veces con él durante su viaje por Sinnoh. La primera vez lo encontró y lo salvo de un precipicio. La segunda vez, Ash lo llevó con su padre Hippowdon.
- Es capturado en el EP096, en el Archipiélago Naranja, porque se comía los valiosos pomelos de unas islas. Le gustaban tanto que viajaba nadando entre las 7 Islas Pomelo para tenerlas, lo que lo mantenía en buena forma.

- Lo captura en el EP163 en un Concurso de captura de bichos en Johto. En ese mismo capítulo se lo regala a Casey ya que a ella le gustaban las rayas amarillas y negras.
- Es uno de los dos Mamoswine que rentan para poder atravesar la montaña de la Caverna/Gruta Helada y llegar hasta el siguiente pueblo. Durante el episodio Ash y Serena se van turnando para poder manejarlo.
- Aparece por primera vez en EP012 como líder del Escuadrón Squirtle, quienes se comportaban mal. Luego se encuentra con Ash y decide dejarse capturar, ya que él le salvó de unas bombas del Team/Equipo Rocket. Más tarde, en el EP149, vuelve a encontrarse con el Escuadrón Squirtle, quienes ahora son bomberos, y al final Ash le deja quedarse trabajando con ellos.

- En el EP875, tras separarse por el ataque de unos Pangoro salvajes, Pancham es el Pokémon que huye junto a Ash. Los dos suben a lo alto de un montículo para intentar encontrar a Fletchinder y así poder localizar más fácilmente a los demás.
- Ash lo capturó en el Concurso de pesca de Seaking, pero lo devolvió al lago. Ash y Misty entran a este concurso en el episodio .
- Ash y el grupo se encuentran con el Meowth del Team/Equipo Rocket malherido, quien les había dicho que había sido despedido de la organización, y los acompaña en su viaje hasta Ciudad Nimbasa/Mayólica, donde se revela que nunca fue despedido y todo fue parte de un plan para robar sus Pokémon. En el EP823 vuelve a acompañar a Ash y sus amigos, ya que Jessie y James habían sido poseídos por Malamar.

Evoluciona a Fletchinder en el EP840 en un combate aéreo que gana contra el Talonflame de Moria. En el EP889 evoluciona a Talonflame en un combate contra el Pokémon legendario Moltres.
- Fue prestado por Master Hamm y lo utiliza para la pelea de May/Aura que tiene el Hitmonchan de Kyle Hamm, quien se lo presta también, en el capítulo .
- Ash en el EP792 cuidó de él desde que era un Caterpie, prometiendo que lo evolucionaría a Butterfree para partir con los demás de su especie. Entrenando evolucionó a Metapod. - En el EP035 Ash capturó 29 Tauros en manada en la Zona Safari por accidente y Brock le regala el que él capturó en ese lugar. Al parecer hay uno en específico que es el que usa en los combates.

- Caterpie fue capturado en el tercer capítulo y evoluciona a Metapod en ese mismo. En el siguiente capítulo evoluciona a Butterfree. Luego es liberado para irse con un Butterfree color rosa.
- Ash captura a Pidgeotto en el EP003, y evoluciona a Pidgeot en el EP083, en un combate contra un Fearow que tenía atemorizada a una banda de Pidgey y Pidgeotto. Tras hacer huir a Fearow y para evitar que regrese, deja a Pidgeot para que proteja a los Pidgey y a los Pidgeotto.
- En el EP697 Ash usa a Tepig para capturar uno, es un Pokémon hiperactivo y muy fuerte ya que derrotó a Tepig en la primer combate, pero en la segunda perdió. Más tarde en el EP723 evoluciona en su combate contra el Excadrill de Clay/Yakón.
- En la P06, éste Flygon le brinda ayuda a Ash y a Max para poder mantener a Jirachi a salvo del Groudon falso que quería absorberlo. Conoce: hiperrayo y vuelo.
- Es capturado en el EP947, en el bosque de la Isla Melemele. Él pertenecía a un grupo de Pikipek y Trumbeak liderados por un Toucannon, hasta que conoció a Ash y quiso ser capturado para acompañarlo en su aventura. Es bastante torpe y distraído.

- Nació de un huevo en Johto en el EP232. Ash había ganado este huevo en el EP230 en una carrera de patinetes en la que compite con su Bayleef y su rival Gary que compitió con su Arcanine. En el EP431 evoluciona en combate contra el Team/Equipo Rocket en Kanto.
- En el EP880, Hawlucha se encuentra con un huevo mientras entrenaba. El huevo se abre con el cuidado de todos y de él sale Noibat, quien considera a Ash como su "padre". Al ser recién nacido, era bastante llorón y no se le daba bien volar, así que Ash le enseña a hacerlo y al final lo captura. En el EP913 evoluciona a Noivern en un combate contra el Pokémon legendario Zapdos.
- Ash lo captura en el EP299 en una isla de Pueblo Dewford/Azuliza porque estaba destruyendo la tienda donde estaban acampando.
- Se lo regala la profesora Juniper/Encina en el EP663 al ver que Oshawott seguía a Ash. Tiene la costumbre de salir de su Poké Ball para intentar ayudar aunque por lo general falla. Cuando aprendió a usar acua jet, no lo dominaba, ya que mantenía cerrados los ojos, pero esa costumbre se le quitó en el EP695 y llegó a dominar ese ataque.
- Aparece en el buscando compañía, acompañando a Ash y sus amigos. Era un Pokémon solitario y bromista que buscaba hacer amigos. Al final del episodio, se queda a vivir en una escuela infantil de Ciudad Snowpoint/Puntaneva Conoce Nieve polvo • , Hierba Lazo • • , Arraigo • • y Silbato • .

- Tras separarse por los ataques de unos Lotad y Lombre salvajes en el EP860, Fennekin huye junto a Ash y Clemont/Lem. Momentos más tarde, vuelve con Serena.
- En el EP695 Ash y Cilan/Millo tenían que buscar unas medicinas en un estanque porque sus Pokémon se habían enfermado y en éste se encontraba un Palpitoad, que después de unos ataques Ash decide capturarlo.
- Lo intercambió con un caballero por su Butterfree en el EP015. Luego Ash se arrepiente y le pide al entrenador que le intercambie a Butterfree de regreso.
- Por encargo del profesor Elm, Ash tuvo que llevar el huevo que fue rescatado de unos cazadores ilegales de Pokémon a una reserva en el Monte Plateado. Eclosionó en Larvitar en el EP260. En el EP265, gracias al poder de un Unown, todos viajan a su mente y presencian sus malos recuerdos. En el siguiente episodio es liberado junto a su madre Tyranitar en una reserva Pokémon para que los cazadores no le hagan daño.

En el EP107 al ver como Ash le cuidó tras ser congelado le empezó a obedecer. Lo dejó entrenándose en el Valle Charicifico/Charirrífico en el EP136. Reaparece en el EP778 para integrarse a su equipo y se queda en el laboratorio en el EP804.
- Aparece por primera vez en el EP280 siendo el líder de una bandada de Taillow del Bosque Petalburgo/Petalia que le había robado el chocolate a Max, luego Ash lo captura y en el EP356, evoluciona compitiendo en el concurso volador de PokéAro/PokéAnilla.
- El profesor Kukui le dio la Pokédex a Ash en el EP945. En el EP946, Kukui vio en su laboratorio a un Rotom que podía hacerla funcionar y así, iniciar la RotomDex. Puede hablar y está en constante aprendizaje, actualizando los datos que tiene y conociendo los comportamientos en la interacción entre humanos y Pokémon.
- Keegan le presta a Ash su Arcanine en para capturar al Team/Equipo Rocket, quienes habían robado las piedras fuego. Conoce: velocidad extrema, derribo, rueda fuego y placaje.
- Rockruff estaba viviendo con el profesor Kukui desde su primera aparición, en el EP958 Rockruff llegó a casa herido causando que Ash y el profesor Kukui investiguen y los lleva a descubrir que Rockruff había estado luchando contra otros Pokémon incluyendo un Magmar. Con la ayuda de Ash, Rockruff finalmente fue capaz de derrotar a Magmar. Al final del episodio, el profesor Kukui le permitió a Ash capturar a Rockruff al ver el vínculo que los dos habían desarrollado.
- Gible apareció por primera vez en el EP625 en el que practicó un duro entrenamiento para aprender meteoro dragón/cometa draco, Gible sigue a Ash y éste lo captura.
- Es capturado en el EP010, de camino a Ciudad Carmín, era guardián de una aldea. A pesar de ser pequeño, demuestra tener gran poder en cada uno de sus combates. En su momento pudo haber evolucionado a Ivysaur, pero no quiso. Es el Pokémon más protector de los que tiene Ash en el laboratorio.

| Info | - Ash, Brock and Misty borrowed Hoothoot from Hagatha in order to navigate the haunted forest. It attacked Ash and got affectionate with Misty since it only got along well with pretty girls. It was returned to her sister, Nagatha after they were able to get to the exit.
- Ash befriended Mew at the Tree of Beginning after it told the tree that Ash and his friends are not a threat. But Mew's request made it gravely ill and the tree began to fall apart. Ash and Lucario risked their lives to use their Aura and save the tree and Mew was successfully recovered.
- When the group got separated from their Pokémon, Brock sent out his Mudkip to help Ash look for them.
- Captured after taking over a Power Plant, Muk was immediately sent to Professor Oak's Laboratory. While being there it grew incredibly affectionate and is known to hug Professor Oak on many occasions. However, past this affectionate yet slimy exterior, Muk has been used in several League battles and manages to hold its ground. As a running gag, Muk often knocks over Professor Oak when he's talking with Ash over the video-phone.
- Ash befriended Lucario after releasing him from Sir Aaron's staff due to having the same Aura as its master. Although they didn't get along at first, Lucario teamed up with Ash in a desperate search for Pikachu at the Tree of Beginning. When the tree was beginning to fall apart, Ash and Lucario transferred their Aura to Mew. But just as Ash is about to use up all of his Aura, Lucario pushed Ash to safety as he doesn't want Ash to die. Before Lucario dies, he saw how Sir Aaron truly cared about it and how he was willing to sacrifice everything to save the land from the war, even if he had to seal Lucario in his staff.
- After evolving during a Pokémon Ring Contest, Swellow has partaken in many of Ash's battles in Gyms and Leagues and has got a good amount of wins under his wing. Swellow was left at Oak's Lab when Ash left for his journey to Sinnoh. But Ash used Swellow, one more time, in the Sinnoh League.
- Ash borrowed Hitmonlee from Master Hamm to battle May with Hitmonchan after Master Hamm was having problems.
- Ash temporarily commanded a Flygon in order to help protect Jirachi from an evil mutation of Groudon created by Butler.
- When he was in the Safari Zone, Ash managed to capture thirty Tauros, all of which reside at Oak's Laboratory. However Ash has used one of the Tauros on several occasions in Leagues and Frontier battles.
- Team Rocket took Lombre, thinking it was Mawile. Ash used Lombre to battle them, since Brock was absent.
- It was Ash's seventh Pokémon in Kanto. Evolving in its first ever battle in the Indigo League, Kingler is a good strong Pokémon that Ash has fallen back on in both the Indigo and Johto leagues. However it has not seen much experience outside of those leagues.
- After evolving from Chikorita, Bayleef kept her longing feelings for Ash which did end up getting her in trouble on several occasions. However after getting used to her size, she managed to become a vital part of Ash's team and helped win many Gym & League battles. Ash left her at Oak's when he decided to make a fresh start when he left for Hoenn.
- When Team Rocket was trapped inside the Pokémon Center's PC system so they could steal Pokémon, Ash borrowed a Porygon from Dr. Akihabara in order to stop them. After that, they left the computer world and returned it to him.
- Ash met Haunter in The Tower of Terror in the Pokémon Tower in Lavender Town. It, with several other Ghost Pokémon played with Ash after he had been trapped under a chandelier. However after Ash returned to his body, Haunter agreed to join Ash's team to battle Sabrina's Psychic Pokémon. Once it got to Saffron City, it disappeared but eventually returned to battle. However it was much more interested in joking about and immobilizing Sabrina's Kadabra and thus Ash decided to leave Haunter with Sabrina. Haunter's Moves: Lick.
- The Pokémon League entrance exam instructor gave Ash an Arbok by having him choose his own set of Poké Balls provided by the instructor. It was used during a Pokémon League exam by battling the Instructor's Jolteon and lost. Ash even used it to help stop Team Rocket and send them blasting off. After that, he gave Arbok back to the instructor.
- When Lara was hurt, Ash filled in the race, using her Ponyta, which evolved into Rapidash, and won.
- Ash attempted to battle Team Rocket with Nurse Joy's Pidgey, but got easily scared by their Pokémon.
- Ash encountered Lugia when the Legendary Birds were attacking each other as the world began to fall apart, thanks to Lawrence III's attempts to capture them. Lugia and Ash worked together to bring three treasures from the islands of fire, ice, and lightning and managed to save the world from destruction and calm down the Legendary Birds.
- Meowth was the third and final Pokémon used by Ash during the Pokémon League exam. It was up against the Instructor's Vaporeon in which Vaporeon froze the Meowth causing Team Rocket's Meowth to interfere with the battle by kicking the frozen one free. It was accidentally blasted off along with Team Rocket. The temporary switch was fixed in the next episode.
- The Pokémon League entrance exam instructor gave Ash a Weezing by having him choose his own set of Poké Balls provided by the instructor. It was used during the Pokémon League exam by battling the Instructor's Flareon and won. Ash even used it to help stop Team Rocket and send them blasting off. After that, he gave Weezing back to the instructor.
- After evolving from Metapod, Butterfree managed to defend Ash from a swarm of Beedrill. From this he managed to gain some power and became a vital part of Ash's team during his tenure. He eventually left to start a family with a female Pink Butterfree.
- After Pidgeotto evolved into Pidgeot, it went into battle against a flock of Spearow and Fearow that were terrorizing Pidgey and Pidgeotto in Viridian Forest. After the battle was done, Ash decided to leave it in the forest to lead the flock, but left with the promise that he would someday return for it.
- Mewtwo was a Pokémon that have been originally created by Team Rocket. Giovanni then used it in Pokémon battles at the Viridian City gym, but when it learned about his true intentions, it flew away. Mewtwo lured different Pokémon trainers to an island it took refuge and challenged them into a battle with its cloned Pokémon. When Mew stepped in, it fought against Mewtwo. During the battle, Ash stepped in between Mewtwo and Mew's attacks and gets himself petrified. Mewtwo was puzzled at Ash's actions at first, but when the Pokémon and cloned Pokémon's tears restored Ash to life, Mewtwo had a change of heart and flew away with its clones. Mewtwo met Ash again in the Johto region when Giovanni attempted to get revenge on it by capturing it once again. But Ash and his friends managed to stop Giovanni and Team Rocket and Mewtwo and its clones continued to live peacefully.
- Lapras was the first Pokémon that Ash captured in the Orange Islands. Originally she was found washed up on a beach but Ash & Co. managed to help nurse her back to health until she was kidnapped by Team Rocket. Ash managed to free her and captured her until they could find Lapras' family. Lapras was primarily used as the gang's transport throughout the Orange Islands but she was also used in several of the Gym battles and the final League match. Ash eventually let her go to be with her family, but saw her again when in Johto and helped her defend a lab and the other Lapras from Team Rocket.
- Ash attempted to battle Team Rocket with Nurse Joy's Rattata, but got easily scared by their Pokémon.
- When Ash and Keegan were separated from Misty, Brock and Ramona, Keegan hurt his arm, so Ash took his place by riding Arcky.
- Ash borrowed Staryu from Misty for the Fire and Rescue Grand Prix in The Fire-ing Squad!. However, he did not win the contest and returned Staryu to her around the end of the episode.
- Ash encountered Celebi when Sammy traveled through time to save it from a greedy Team Rocket member called the Vicious. With the help of Suicune, Ash and Sammy protected Celebi from Vicious and saved the forest.
- Still on their way to Goldenrod City, Ash and co. decide to have a lunch break. Only to find that Ash's backpack had been stolen. Elsewhere Team Rocket steals a ham from Nurse Joy's grocery bag, only to have it stolen by something else. Brock comes up with a plan to lure out the thieves. Later that night, the thieves turn out to be the Dark Pokémon, Houndour. A Houndour with a scar on its right eye appears on a ledge. This particular Houndour is the leader of the pack.
- Ash encountered Latias in the form of Bianca at Alto Mare when he saved her from Oakley and Annie. Latias developed a close bond with Ash and have been playing with him and with her brother, Latios. One night, when Oakley and Annie captured Latios, Latias teamed up with Ash to rescue him. When Latios gave his life to save the city from a massive and deadly tidal wave, Latias was heartbroken and Ash comforted her over the loss of her brother. The next day, Ash and his friends were leaving Alto Mare and Latias bid farewell to Ash.
- Ash borrowed Psyduck from Misty for the Fire and Rescue Grand Prix. However, he did not win the contest and returned Psyduck to her.
- While not Ash's per say, Larvitar was in an egg that Ash was given to take to Professor Elm, however in transit of the Egg it hatched into Larvitar. Like any Pokémon just hatched it had the personality of a child, but a tortured child through memories of what happened to its mother. It froze up whenever anyone other than Ash spoke to it or held it, which it eventually managed to get over. Not long after meeting, Ash managed to return it to its mother and stopped the Poachers from ever disturbing them again.
- Ash captured Beedrill while in the Bug Catching Contest just a bit shy from Goldenrod City in Johto. His capture of Beedrill made him win the contest. After the contest he decided to give the Beedrill to Casey as she loves Pokémon with yellow and black stripes, for they resemble an Electabuzz.
- Ash temporary borrowed Officer Jenny's Pidgeot in order to catch up to the boat that is leaving for Littleroot Town.
- Ash befriended this Meloetta, who he gained the trust of after saving it. Later, it stays with Ridley.
- During the first two days of the Pokémon Summer Academy, Ash took care of the Raichu. Raichu was very shy at first, but he eventually became more engaging.
- Ash first met Litten by the time he and Pikachu arrived in Alola. However, every time they encounter each other, Litten didn't trust them.
- Krokorok was een Pokémon die verscheen in meerdere afleveringen van de anime. Hij was een Sandile tot hij evolueerde in Krokorok in gevecht met Ash's Pikachu. - Ash's Staraptor evolueerde van Staravia tijdens een PokéRinger wedstrijd tegen Paul's Honchkrow. Nadat hij evolueerde werd hij een van de powerhouses van Ash's team en werd nog steeds gebruikt voor langeafstandszoektochten.
- Nadat hij evolueerde van Grovyle om een Meganium te verdedigen waar hij verliefd op was. Kon hij een tijd geen aanvallen gebruiken omdat hij zijn hart brak nadat hij werd afgewezen. Nadat hij weer kon aanvallen werd Sceptile een vitaal powerhouse in Ash's team die zich staande kon houden tegen legendarische Pokémon inclusief Deoxys, Regirock, en Darkrai. Hoewel het een van Ash's best getrainde Pokémon was besloot Ash om Sceptile bij Oak's Lab achter te laten toen hij naar Sinnoh vertrok. Sceptile werd gebruikt om Darkrai in te verslaan in de Sinnoh Pokémon League.
- Bulbasaur was the third Pokémon Ash caught. He had been protecting a village of Pokémon that were recovering from illnesses. Since then he became a vital part of Ash's team and won many gym and league battles for Ash. Bulbasaur has been given the choice to evolve but decided to stay at his base form. Long into his journey with Ash, Bulbasaur was called upon to stop feuds between the Pokémon in Oak's Lab and has continued to do so. He also appears to have a budding romance with May's Bulbasaur.
- Torterra is the Grass type Pokémon of Ash's Team. After being used in a gym battle against Volkner, which got postponed, Ash's Grotle evolved during a battle with Team Rocket.
- While Officer Jenny was persuing Dolan, a cage containing a Scatterbug fell out of his truck. Ash, Serena, Clemont, and Bonnie somehow rescued the Scatterbug and took it to the Pokémon Center for treatment. During that time, it evolved into a Spewpa and assisted them in saving the captured Spewpa from Dolan. It later assisted its friends in a battle against Dolan's Diggersby and evolved into a Vivillon in its Elegant Pattern form. After defeating Diggersby with a single Stun Spore attack, Officer Jenny arrested Dolan. With Dolan defeated and all the Spewpa free, they all evolve into Vivillon but with different patterns and they all flew away. Vivillon bid its friends good-bye and flew away with the others.
- Krokorok was a Pokémon that appeared in several episodes in the anime before being caught. He was a Sandile until he evolved into Krokorok while battling Ash's Pikachu. He eventually joined Ash's team later on. He later evolved further into a Krookodile. As he evolved and grew in size his sunglasses remained with him.
- When the gang were accidentally separated from each other after an attack from a trio of angry Pangoro, Ash temporarily used Serena's Pancham to find the rest of the group.
- Ash befriended Arceus after returning the Jewel of Life and saving it from death due to Marcus's arrogant and selfish attempts to destroy it.

- After the epic battle of Kyurem and Keldeo, Ash temporarily rode on Cobalion to escape the Full Court as it collapses.

- Pikachu was given to Ash by Professor Oak, since the other three Kanto starter Pokémon had already been taken by other trainers. Originally, Pikachu would not listen to Ash and constantly shocked him. However, after accidentally angering a flock of Spearow, Pikachu had a change of heart when he saw Ash defend him. Since then, Pikachu has assisted and been very successful in many of Ash's battles, and over time has adopted Ash's mannerisms. Pikachu does not want to be in his Poké Ball, so he stays out all the time, often riding on Ash's shoulder or head.
- Ash temporarily commanded a borrowed Rhyhorn, in order to participate at the Rhyhorn race held at Sumiru Village. In the beginning it was hard for Ash to handle it, but gradually it teamed up with Ash.
- Captured in the Orange Islands when stealing all the fruit from a small Island range, Snorlax has become a major powerhouse of Ash's, when he is awake that is. Due to his massive feeding requirements, Ash felt it better to stay at Professor Oak's, however he is still used for a number of Gym, League and Frontier battles. Also, Snorlax had defeated a Medicham, even at a Fighting disadvantage.
- Ash found Tepig when he was at the Battle Club in Accumula Town when he saw him escape from the Battle Club's warehouse. When he found him, he saw his mouth had been tied by his past trainer who left him at the Battle Club after he lost to a Deerling, making him unable to eat and so Ash helped free him and created a bond with him. He later confronted his original trainer and evolved with new-found strength, confidence and resolve.
- Rockruff is voor het eerst te zien in De Uitdaging van de Beschermer! in het laboratorium van Professor Kukui. Nadat Rockruff in SM015 dankzij Ash een Magmar weet te verslaan, besluit Professor Kukui dat Ash Rockruff mag vangen.
- Torkoal was found under attack by a bunch of Steel Pokémon in the valley. When Ash arrived to rescue him, he ran off but eventually followed Ash's instructions and defeated the Steel Pokémon. He is an emotional Pokémon which has been known to burst into tears when happy. Torkoal hasn't been in many gym battles but is used in standard battles on many occasions and proves his strength in those battles. After the Hoenn League, Ash decided to give him some time off at Oak's Laboratory.
- Bulbasaur was de derde Pokémon die Ash ving. Hij beschermde een stad waar zieke Pokémon genas. Sinds dien werd hij een vitaal deel van Ash's en won vele gym en league gevechten voor Ash. Bulbasaur had de keuze om te evolueren maar besloot dit niet te doen. - Heracross was the first Pokémon that Ash captured in Johto. He loves tree sap and has been known to suck the pollen out of Bulbasaur's Bulb on several occasions causing Bulbasaur pain. He is a powerful Pokémon of Ash's and has been used in several Gym, League, Frontier battles and even the Sinnoh Pokémon League.
- Ash befriended Reshiram in the first "Black and White" movie. Learning of it's past and the unfortunate events that leave it trapped within the city, Ash helps heal the wounds in Victini's heart that the centuries of loneliness had inflicted. In the climax of the movie, Ash helps free Victini from unintentional harm in trying to revitalize the land with the Dragon Force, destroying the pillars that kept Victini trapped in the city, allowing the Pokemon to go wherever its heart desired.
- Ash first encountered his Gible when he met Old Lady Tatsu, a woman who was teaching an Altaria a special move for Dragon Pokémon, Draco Meteor. Ash assisted Gible in the learning of the move and Gible decided to follow Ash. He also has the habit of biting on to heads. Later on, Ash noticed Gible followed him and eventually captured him. He had lots of trouble with Draco Meteor at first, often hitting poor Piplup on his head.
- Ash ving Palpitoad in Met Open Ogen het Gevaar Tegemoet gaan!. Hij was de leider van een groep Tympole. Hij verscheen opnieuw in Een Weerzien In Gevecht, In Nimbasa! waar hij vocht tegen Burgundy's Stoutland en won met een krachtige Hydro Pump. Hij werd opnieuw gebruikt tijdens het Toernooi. Deze keer tegen een Trainer's Darumaka die makkelijk werd verslagen met een sterke Hydro Pump. Hoewel hij niet veel te zien was in de serie was hij wel ontzettend sterk toen hij werd gebruikt.
- Ash befriended Shaymin when it was lost and alone. It assisted Ash into stopping Zero from capturing Giratina and taking over the Reverse World.
- Ash befriended Keldeo when it was injured from its battle with Kyurem. When Ash learned that it was trying to save the Swords of Justice, he teamed up with it and helped it gain enough confidence to fight Kyurem.
- Ash caught Seaking during a Seaking Catching Contest, and then released soon afterwards because of the contest rules.
- Corphish werd gevangen toen hij Dewford Island en zijn bewoners terroriseerde. Maar nadat Corphish werd gevangen verdween deze houding en werd hij een vitaal teamlid van Ash's team. Maar als een van Ash's Pokémon evolueert of iets meer aandacht krijgt word Corphish soms een beetje jaloers. Nadat hij met Ash door Hoenn en de Battle Frontier hat gereisd werd Corphish achtergelaten bij Oak's Lab.
- Ash became stuck to Volcanion.
- After evolving from Grovyle to defend his love interest, he lost all ability to use attacks due to a broken heart caused by rejection. Eventually regaining the ability to use the attacks, Sceptile became a vital powerhouse in Ash's team which can hold his own against legendary Pokémon including Deoxys, Regirock, and Darkrai. Despite being one of Ash's best-trained Pokémon, Ash decided to leave Sceptile at Oak's Lab while he travelled to Sinnoh. Sceptile was used again to defeat a Darkrai in the Sinnoh Pokémon League.
- Ash befriended a Hoopa in its confined form and helped it stop a villainous Hoopa in its unbound form from going on a rampage, killing innocent Pokémon and people and destroying Dahara City.
- After Team Rocket deceived Florges, Ash and his Goodra teamed up with her in order to save the Pokémon and the wetlands.
- Ash rode on a Sharpedo when he was having a vacation in Alola.
- Torterra was Ash's Gras type Pokémon in de Sinnoh regio. Nadat hij werd gebruikt in een gym gevecht met Volkner de werd uitgesteld evolueerde Ash's Grotle in een gevecht met Team Rocket.
- Oshawott was one of the starters in Unova who Professor Juniper was giving away. However, after Ash left, Oshawott started following Ash and even defended him against Team Rocket. Professor Juniper gave Ash the Poké Ball for Oshawott which Ash used to obtain Oshawott. Oshawott is very affectionate towards Ash and even tries to knock Pikachu off of Ash's shoulder and its personality is similar to Bayleef. He has shown wanting to battle on certain occasions, and if he's not chosen he'll turn completely white and faint. On other occasions, he doesn't show interest in battling. He is also very gluttonous and takes food from other Pokemon.

- Ash befriended Zoroark after it was healed by Celebi and reunited with its child, Zorua.
- Ash and Brock once saved a Charmander from death, and after saving him from his incompetent trainer, Brock decided that Ash should remain with him. Then, evolving from Charmeleon, Charizard didn't obey any orders that Ash gave and quite often used his Flamethrower attack on Ash, However, after getting frozen in battle, Charizard started to respect Ash as Ash nursed him back to health. Since then he has been a vital powerhouse in Ash's team and has been used in several Gym, League and Frontier battles and has even held his own in battles against Entei and Articuno. He currently resides at Prof. Oak's Lab in Kanto.
- Ash befriended a Skrelp after he fished it out of a lake.

- Froakie first appeared in Kalos, Where Dreams and Adventures Begin!, where he observed Pikachu shocking Bonnie, Clemont and Ash outside the Lumiose Gym. Froakie protected Pikachu from his own Electro Ball, which had been rebounded by Wobbuffet's Mirror Coat. At the end of the episode, Froakie appeared in front of Sycamore's lab with a Poké Ball and asked Ash to catch him, which Ash did so gladly. He later evolved into a Frogadier during a battle against Saizo and Barbaracle. He evolved into Greninja in a battle against Heidayu and Bisharp after enduring and blocking Bisharp's Shadow Claw. Greninja is also well-known for its capability of changing into a very unique form during battles called the Ash-Greninja form. At the end of the Team Flare Arc, Ash left Greninja in the Kalos Region along with Zygarde to protect it from future attacks.
- Ash first met Primeape after it, as a Mankey, stole his hat. Determined to get his hat back, Ash chased Primeape and battled with it ending with a capture. Primeape was a Pokémon that went berserk easily and originally didn't follow Ash's commands. However after Ash saved it from a fall in a fighting contest, it gained respect for Ash. After the contest, Ash decided to leave it with a trainer for more training so it could become a P1 Champion.
- Hawlucha first appeared when he was protecting a group of small Pokémon from a rampaging Ursaring. He was known as the "Champion of the Forest" after beating a Machamp prior to being captured. He decided to travel with Ash after he helped him perfect the move, Flying Press and settle the rivalry between it and Machamp.
- In zijn Gigar fase was Gliscor een best zwakke Pokémon hij kende niet zo veel aanvallen allemaal vanwege zijn leeftijd. Maar nadat hij evolueerde werd hij een stuk sterker en zelfverzekerder. Zelfs na zijn evolutie wilde hij meer vechten en hoopte op Ash's toestemming. Tijdens een gevecht met de Air Battle Master, leerde hij Giga Impact en besloot er voor training te blijven. Tijdens de Sinnoh League ging hij terug naar Ash met krachtige aanvallen van zijn training. Na de league besloot Gliscor terug te gaan naar Professor Oak's Lab in plaats van verder te trainen.
- During his Gligar stage, Gliscor was a fairly weak Pokémon, not knowing many attacks and thus not being very strong, all due to his age. However, evolving by grabbing a Razor Fang while he was falling, he gained a lot of strength and confidence. Even after evolving though, he still wished to battle more and still vied for Ash's approval. During a battle with the Air Battle Master, he learned Giga Impact but decided to stay for training. But during Sinnoh League he returned back to Ash with powerful moves from his training. However instead of returning to the Air Battle Master, Gliscor decided be with Ash and stay at Professor Oak's Lab.
- Oshawott was vroeger één van Professor Juniper's Pokémon die bedoeld waren als Starter Pokémon voor nieuwe trainers. Alleen Oshawott liep weg, achter Ash aan. Toen Ash in de problemen kwam dankzij Team Rocket hielp Oshawott hem, hierdoor kwam Ash erachter dat Oshawott graag zijn Pokémon wou worden. Daarom kreeg hij later van Professor Juniper Oshawott's Pokébal zodat hij met Ash mee zou kunnen reizen. Oshawott lijkt heel erg op Ash's Chikorita en is daarom ook heel jaloers op Pikachu. Oshawott heeft ook een oogje op Iris's Emolga. Oshawott wil soms heel graag vechten en als Ash hem dan niet kiest valt hij flauw of hij doet net als of het gevecht hem helemaal niet interesseert. Oshawott is een echte veelvraat en steelt af en toe zelfs eten van andere Pokémon.

- Ash used a Mantyke for the Pokémon Triathlon to cross the lake.
- Pelipper acted as Ash's Poké Ride while he was traveling to Akala Island while helping Kiawe with his deliveries.
- Froakie verscheen voor het eerst in Kalos, waar dromen en avonturen beginnen! waar hij zag hoe Pikachu Bonnie, Clemont en Ash een schok gaf buiten de Lumiose Gym. Froakie beschermde Pikachu van zijn eigen Electro Ball die was teruggekaatst door Wobbuffet's Mirror Coat. - Ash caught Palpitoad in BW035. He was the leader of a crew which was held by some Tympole. He reappeared in BW041 in which he battled against Burgundy's Stoutland and won it using a massive Hydro Pump. He was used again during the Tournament, this time against a Trainer's Darumaka which was easily defeated by a strong Hydro Pump. Despite not being shown on screen often, during the times he was shown he was incredibly strong.
- Ash first protected Litleo from Pyroar's Flamethrower and later on help Litleo become independent and return to its pride.
- Ash ving Pidove in Hier zijn Iris en Axew. Ash gebruikte haar daarna in een gevecht tegen Jessie's Woobat, alleen bleek Woobat veel te sterk voor haar te zijn. Later gebruikte Ash haar in een gevecht tegen een wilde Snivy, tijdens dit gevecht kwamen we erachter dat Pidove een vrouwtje is omdat Snivy's Attract geen effect op haar had. Uiteindelijk wist Pidove Snivy te verzwakken waardoor Ash haar kon vangen. Later stuurde Ash Pidove naar Professor Juniper om ruimte te maken voor zijn Sewaddle, maar uiteindelijk kwam Pidove weer terug in Ash's team. Ze evolueerde in een Tranquill toen ze een zwerm Venipede versloeg bij Castelia City. Later stuurde Ash Tranquil weer terug naar Professor Juniper. Later bracht Ash haar terug voor zijn Gym Gevecht tegen Skyla waarin Tranquill evolueerde in Unfezant, dankzij haar evolutie won Ash dit gevecht.
- Ash used Buneary to freeze water for Dawn's ill Pachirisu.
- Originally captured by Dawn, Buizel has always been an incredibly strong Pokémon with an aptitude for Pokémon Battles. After Zoey saw how Ash & Dawn had Pokémon that preferred the other's vocations, a trade followed.
- In Battle Aboard the St. Anne, Ash traded his Butterfree for a Raticate, but later traded it back.
- After the heroes split up at the labyrinth, Ash teamed up with Pachirisu to come out of the maze.
- Ash temporarily commanded a Latias, who was summoned by Hoopa, to battle against the villainous Hoopa in order to stop its rampage.

- Aipom originally met Ash on a mountain where she worshiped a Giant Slaking, where she stole Ash's hat. However after Ash found Aipom, they quickly befriended. Ash originally was going to give the hat to Aipom but she gave it back. For a short time Aipom followed Ash and turned up at the Grand Festival, again stealing Ash's hat. Near to the finals of the Grand Festival, Ash decided to battle Aipom and finally caught her. Apart from her battling strengths, Aipom has shown a great aptitude for Contests and as such was eventually traded to Dawn for her Contests, and a few episodes later Aipom evolved into Ambipom.
- Ash found Snivy when he was in a forest heading towards Nacrene City. Snivy was difficult for Ash to catch due to her using Attract. Ash encountered her after she had taken some of Cilan's food. To stop her, Ash decided he needed to capture her. She has been shown to be very agile and able to evade attacks expertly. Snivy seems to be stronger, confident, and skilled compared to the other Pokémon Ash has caught in Unova. Trip even said that Snivy was a strong Pokémon, enough to defeat his Servine, Snivy's evolved form.
- Ash ontmoet Tepig wanneer hij uit het magazijn van de Vecht Club in Accumula Town probeert te ontsnappen. Toen Ash Tepig zag, zag hij dat Tepig's mond letterlijk gesnoerd was door een touw. Tepig's oude trainer had het touw om Tepig's mond gebonden omdat Tepig een gevecht verloren had van een Deerling, hierdoor kon Tepig niet eten en besloot Ash het touw los te maken waardoor Tepig gelijk een goede ban met Ash kreeg. Tepig heeft krachtig aanvallen zoals Ember hierdoor werd hij al snel een belangrijke schakel in Ash's Unova team. Later evolueerde Tepig in Pignite tijdens een ontmoeting met zijn oude trainer.

- Nadat hij bijna flauwviel in een gevecht met Barry's Empoleon sloeg Monferno door met zijn Blaze gave en liet al zijn kracht vrij op Team Rocket. Terwijl hij de Pokémon beschermde evolueerde hij in Infernape. Hij werd later in een gevecht tegen Flint's Infernape maar verloor omdat hij minder ervaring had.
- Totodile was captured by Ash using his Lure Ball. Since Misty also wanted him, they decided to battle in order to determine whose he was. Ash won. Totodile has a quirky personality and really likes to dance. He has even been known to use this dancing tactic to help win battles. Ash left him at Oak's when he decided to make a fresh start when he left for Hoenn.

- After rejoining Ash's team as a Phanpy, he evolved to help free Pikachu from Team Rocket. However even after the evolution he kept his playful personality from being a Phanpy which sometimes can cause mayhem with other younger Pokémon. Ever since he evolved, he has become a powerhouse in Ash's team winning many Frontier Battles. He now resides back in Oak's Lab during Ash's journey to Sinnoh.
- Ash befriended a Genesect containing the Douse Drive and helped it convince the Red Genesect that not all humans are enemies. Ash then helped it build a home for the Genesects to live in.
- Ash used a Spoink for the Pokémon Triathlon to ride it.
- This Rockruff was originally a wild Pokémon living under Kukui's care. In SM015, after seeing how Rockruff formed a strong bond with Ash, Kukui thought it was best for Ash to take Rockruff on his adventures, which it gladly accepts.
- Ash's Scraggy ei kwam uit de Day Care op Route 3. Toen het ei uiteindelijk uitkwam bleek Scraggy een zeer agressieve Pokémon te zijn. Scraggy wordt ook snel boos waardoor hij andere Pokémon snel aanvalt, maar gelukkig voor de andere Pokémon zijn de aanvallen van Scraggy niet zo sterk. Omdat Scraggy niet zo sterk was probeerde hij altijd zijn Headbutt aanval te verbeteren. Later werd Scraggy een stuk rustiger dankzij zijn vriendschap met Iris's Axew. Later leerde Scraggy Hi Jump Kick.
- Ash en Brock redde eens een Charmander van de dood en nadat ze hem hadden gered van zijn incompetente trainer besloot Brock dat Ash mocht hebben. Toen hij van Charmeleon in Charizard evolueerde luisterde hij niet naar Ash en gebruikte vaak zijn flamethrower aanval op Ash. Maar naar dat hij bevroor in een gevecht begon hij Ash te respecteren nadat Ash hem weer op kracht hielp te komen. Sinds toen werd hij een vitaal powerhouse in Ash's team en is gebruikt in meerdere Gym, League en Frontier gevechten en was zelfs opgewassen tegen Entei en Articuno. Hij verblijft momenteel in Prof. Oak's Lab in Kanto.
- Ash ontmoet Litten voor het eerst wanneer hij op Litten's staart stapt in Alola! Nieuwe Avonturen! Wanneer Stoutland de vriend van Litten verdwijnt besluit Litten om met Ash mee op reis te gaan.
- Torkoal werd gevonden toen hij werd aangevallen Staal Pokémon in een vallei. Toen Ash arriveerde om hem te redden vluchtte hij maar volgde uiteindelijk Ash's advies op en versloeg de Staal Pokémon. Hij is een emotionele Pokémon die in tranen uitbarst als hij blij is. Torkoal is niet in veel gym gevechten gebruikt maar meestal in standaard gevechten in veel gevechten en heeft zijn kracht aangetoond in deze gevechten. Na de Hoenn League besloot Ash hem wat rust te geven in Oak's Laboratorium.
- Rowlet was found by Ash as it was trying to get food for Toucannon. After Ash saved it from falling and giving it food, Rowlet started to like him and saved Pikachu from Mimikyu. After getting Toucannon's approval, Rowlet decided to join Ash's team, becoming his first Alolan Pokémon.
- Unfezant was captured as a Pidove in a forest. She evolved into a Tranquill after clearing out a swarm of Venipede from Castelia City. She was currently in Ash's Party but she went back to the lab after a while. She evolved again in the battle against Skyla and managed to beat Skyla to which she happily celebrated by flying around the Gym.
- Ash made friends with a Skiddo and rode on it for a while.
- Ash befriended Zorua and helped it in a search and rescue for its mother, Zoroark. Zorua even helped Ash protect Celebi from Grings Kodai.
- Ash befriended Zekrom in the first "Black and White" movie. Learning of it's past and the unfortunate events that leave it trapped within the city, Ash helps heal the wounds in Victini's heart that the centuries of loneliness had inflicted. In the climax of the movie, Ash helps free Victini from unintentional harm in trying to revitalize the land with the Dragon Force, destroying the pillars that kept Victini trapped in the city, allowing the Pokemon to go wherever its heart desired.
- Corphish was captured while terrorizing Dewford Island and his inhabitants. However once caught Corphish managed to tame his terrorizing attitude and become a vitally used member of Ash's team. However whenever one of Ash's Pokémon evolves or gets a bit more attention, Corphish does get the tendency to get a bit jealous. After its adventure with Ash through Hoenn and the Battle Frontier, Corphish was left at Oak's Lab.
- Ash hielp Litleo tijdens zijn reis om volwassen te worden.
- Fletchling first appeared where it swooped down to take a berry that Bonnie gave to a Dedenne. Afterwards, Froakie challenged it to a battle but Fletchling's speed and strength proved to be too much for Froakie. Froakie was finally able to land a hit on the Tiny Robin Pokémon. Ash threw a Poké Ball at it but the capture was unsuccessful. Froakie continued the battle with Fletchling and landed a hit with Water Pulse. Ash threw another Poké Ball at Fletchling and managed to catch it this time. It later evolved into Fletchinder during a sky battle against Moria's Talonflame and then into a Talonflame while battling against the legendary Pokémon, Moltres.
- Het was de zevende Pokémon van Ash's in Kanto. Hij evolueerde in zijn eerste gevecht in de Indigo League, Kingler is een goede sterke Pokémon waar Ash op is teruggevallen in de Indigo en Johto leagues. Maar hij heeft niet veel ervaring buiten de ze leagues.
- After the heroes split up at the labyrinth, Ash teamed up with Piplup to come out of the maze. In Unova, during their stay at the deserted island, Ash used Piplup to attack the Onix.

- After receiving an egg from the Day Care in Route 3, the egg eventually hatched into Scraggy. However, Scraggy was a bit of a violent Pokémon, attacking Ash, Iris & Cilan's other Pokémon at will. Scraggy was a very angry Pokémon, but unfortunately his attacks, such as Headbutt, are not strong. However, despite this, he is continually trying to improve his Headbutt attack. Scraggy has calmed down since he first hatched and has developed a deep friendship with Iris' Axew.
- When Squirtle was captured, it was part of the Squirtle Squad, a terrorizing group of Squirtle that were causing havoc around Vermillion City. However after gaining respect for Ash, it joined his team and has since become an incredibly competent battler. It has won many Gym and League matches but has since returned to the Squirtle Squad to lead after the team started falling apart. Later, it appears with other Ash's captured Pokémon in Prof. Oak's lab, in the opening scene of BW: Adventures in Unova.
- When the gang were accidentally separated from each other after an attack from a trio of angry Pangoro, Ash temporarily used Clemont's Luxray to find the rest of the group.
- Noibat hatched from its egg after being found by Ash's Hawlucha. It then ate some fruits and drank some water, but later got captured by Team Rocket, who wanted to make him evolve into Noivern. Later they confronted on a cave, but Noibat was smart enough to use his ultrasonic waves to identify Team Rocket and chase them out of the cave. Later it decided to join Ash's team. Noibat later evolved into Noivern while saving Hawlucha from falling into the ravine and battling against the legendary Pokémon, Zapdos.
- This Butterfree was found on Wayfarer Island as a Caterpie, where its lazy tendencies caused it to not evolve and be left behind by its swarm. To help it, Ash temporarily trained the wild Caterpie in order to help it evolve all the way to Butterfree so it wouldn't be left behind. Caterpie evolved into Metapod after it and Pikachu fended off a wild Ursaring. To save Pikachu from Team Rocket, it evolved into a Butterfree and teamed up with Pikachu to blast the trio away. Afterward, it had a tearful goodbye with Ash as it returned to its swarm.
- Ash made friends with a Sableye and played with it for a while.
- Nadat hij evolueerde in een Pokémon Ring Wedstrijd heeft Swellow aan veel van Ash's gevechten in Gyms en Leagues meegedaan en heeft een groot aantal overwinningen op zijn naam staan. Swellow werd bij Oak's Lab achtergelaten Ash toen hij naar Sinnoh ging. Maar Ash gebruikte Swellow nog een keer in de Sinnoh League.
- Noctowl is an incredibly rare Pokémon of Ash. He is a Shiny Pokémon which glitters as he comes out of his Poké Ball into battle. Due to his psychic abilities, he has been used many times to find and battle Ghost Pokémon as well as the usual flying requirements that Ash utilizes. Ash left him at Oak's when he decided to make a fresh start when he left for Hoenn.
- Ash ontmoete Gible voor het eerst bij Wilma een vrouw die een Altaria een speciale aanval voor Draak Pokémon leerde. Ash hielp Gible met het leren van de aanval en Gible besloot Ash te volgen. - Tijdens het gevecht tegen Hoopa's schaduw, gebruikte Ash de Latios die Hoopa heeft opgeroepen.
- Ash werd aan hem gegeven omdat Professor Oak alle originele Kanto starter Pokemon al had weggegeven. Eerst wilde Pikachu niet naar Ash luisteren en gaf hij hem telkens schokken maar nadat Ash hem verdedigde voor een zwerm Spearow begon hij hem te respecteren. Sindsdien heeft Pikachu veel gevechten voor hem gewonnen en veel van Ash's karaktertrekken overgenomen. Pikachu houdt er niet van in zijn Poké Bal te zitten en zit meestal op Ash's schouder of hoofd.
- Glalie was newly evolved when Ash entered the Hoenn League. Convinced of his power Ash used him in a number of battles where he managed to hold his own successfully. After the league was over he decided to give him a break at Oak's Laboratory.
- Ash temporarily road on a Mamoswine, along with Serena, to cross the snowy mountains and through the Frost Cavern.
- After being knocked to the brink of fainting in a battle against Barry's Empoleon, Monferno went berserk with his Blaze Ability and unleashed his full power against Team Rocket. While protecting the Pokémon, he evolved into Infernape. He was later used in a battle against Flint's Infernape, but lost due to his lack of experience.
- Ash made friends with a Riolu and helped him return to his trainer in the Lucario Kingdom.
- Goomy first appeared when it landed on Ash's head after getting flown away from its home by a Swanna. Goomy is a shy and timid Pokémon and whenever it sees Clemont's Dedenne, it always goes and hides. However despite being cowardly, it does possess some intense strength and uses Rain Dance to build up its powers. Goomy first decided to travel with Ash after he defended it from Team Rocket. Goomy later evolved into Sliggoo during a battle against Team Rocket and a wild Grumpig. Sliggoo later evolved into Goodra in order to save its trainer and his friends from a wild fire caused by Team Rocket. Sometime after saving the marshlands from Team Rocket, Ash released Goodra so it can remain with its companions. However, by the time of the Lumiose Conference, Goodra decided to return to Ash, to which it rejoined Ash's lineup for the Pokémon League. At the end of the Team Flare Arc, Ash returned Goodra to the wetlands and promised to see it again one day.
- Ash first encountered Azelf in its spirit form at Lake Valor. When Azelf was captured by Team Galactic, Ash and Pikachu came and freed it from the Red Chain's power. Together with their hearts connected along with Dawn, Mesprit, Brock, and Uxie, Ash and Azelf worked together to calm Dialga and Palkia and save the Sinnoh region from destruction.
- Leavanny is een Pokémon die Ash ving als Sewaddle toen hij door het Pinwheel Forest reisde. Hij evolueerde in Swadloon tijdens een gevecht met Burgh's Whirlipede. Swadloon evolueerde in Leavanny tijdens een gevecht met Iris' Emolga en als resultaat begon hij kleren te maken voor Pikachu en de andere Pokemon van bladeren. Tijdens een gevecht tegen Stephan in de Unova League werd duidelijk dat zijn gave Swarm was maar was niet sterk genoeg om Stephan's Sawk te verslaan en verloor.

Uiteindelijk wist Froakie hem te raken. Ash gooide een Poké Bal maar ving hem niet. Froakie ging verder met het gevecht met Fletchling en raakte hem met Water Pulse. Ash gooide nog een Poké Bal naar Fletchling en ving hem deze keer. Hij evolueerde in Fletchinder tijdens een luchtgevecht tegen Moria's Talonflame. Later tijdens een gevecht tegen een Moltres evolueerde Fletchinder in Talonflame.
- Ash temporarily commanded a shiny Rayquaza, who was summoned by Hoopa, to battle against the villainous Hoopa in order to stop its rampage.
- Ash befriended Magearna after he helped Volcanion rescue it from Alva.
- While training for the Sinnoh League, Ash brought his Cyndaquil with many of his other Pokémon. However, Team Rocket tried to cause problems and Cyndaquil evolved in order to stop them. Quilava has numerous powerful attacks such as Flame Wheel at his disposal, showing that he has completely overcome his previous hindrances in his base form and is sure to be a powerful Pokémon within Ash's team.
- Leavanny is a Pokémon Ash caught as a Sewaddle while he was travelling through Pinwheel Forest. He evolved into a Swadloon during a battle with Burgh's Whirlipede. Swadloon evolved into a Leavanny during a battle against Iris' Emolga and as a result started to make clothes and headgears out of leaves for Pikachu and the other Pokemon, which they like. During the battle against Stephan in the Unova League, it was revealed that his ability was Swarm, but he wasn't strong enough to defeat Stephan's Sawk and lost.
- Ash temporarily commanded a wild Cottonee in order to help him win over a love interest. With Ash's assistance, he was able to learn to dodge attacks and aim his own attacks better.
- Ash caught Roggenrola after he helped it to save a group of some other Roggenrola from Team Rocket. After an intense battle with Ash's Tepig, Ash captured it. Roggenrola evolved into Boldore while fighting Clay's Excadrill. Boldore is shown to be very resourceful, like using Sandstorm to put out a fire.
- Ash vond Snivy in een bos in de buurt van Nacrene City hier stal Snivy het eten van Cilan. Omdat Snivy voor zoveel problemen zorgde besloot Ash om haar te vangen. Ash kon Snivy maar moeilijk vangen omdat ze steeds Attract gebruikte. Snivy heeft een aantal krachtige aanvallen zoals Leaf Blade, Vine Whip en Leaf Storm. Snivy is misschien wel één van Ash's sterkste Unova Pokémon, Trip zei zelfs dat Snivy misschien wel sterker is dan zijn Servine.

| abstract | - Ash Ketchum is the star of a reality TV show that involves him traveling to Third World countries and advertising the Pokemon that live there along with Pikachu. He wishes to become the very best MLG noscoper Pokemon trainer. He dreams of one day defeating Cynthia and becoming the champion, but due to his inability to properly prepare or put any actual effort into his training, he loses every Pokemon tournament there is, even when his Pokemon are higher level than his opponent's. He never seems to die; he has died millions of times and seems to come back to life. He might be a hacker.

- Ash was born to a stupid mother and Professor Oak in 1996. He turned ten within 3 days, and immediately started going on a Pokemon adventure! He made lotsa friends and did lotsa stuff that you would get a time out for. Then he saved the world from Team Rocket OVER 9000 times and he made lotsa asplosions. Then he started to get weird. Ash's decent into insanity was a slow one. It started when he caught Mewtwo. Except, he didn't actually catch Mewtwo. He just threw a Pokeball at Mewtwo's face (which probably hurt), and then he started screaming "I CAUGHT MEWTWO OH YEAH IM AWESOME RDFAHGYARJF BHRAZHJXRJ!" Meanwhile, Mewtwo used a jedi mind trick to make Ash jump off of a building. Ash survived, but then he told Everybody he was going to join the military. He joined the militaries of the Sonic Islands, Mushroom Kingdom, and the Ducky Empire. He fought in lotsa wars and shot at lotsa people. He said his only regret was not catching Magikarp, arguably the easiest thing to do ever. As time went on, Ash simply began to lose his grip on reality. He started calling Misty "mommy" and then he shot Brock. Ash was on the run from the police for 7 years (but he's still 10 years old). He was eventually caught and determined "legally insane". After running away and shooting more stuff with a Rocket Launcher, he was eventually caught by Batman. He now resides in a rubber room muttering something about lieking Mudkipz.

He used to have an IQ of 24, yet this fell a bit in PokemonNever. He also travels everywhere with his Pikachu, who is evil yet it is somehow hypnotized by his stupidity sometimes. Un giorno, un'altra partecipante, chiamata Serena, si perse in una foresta e si ferì ad una gamba dopo essere stata spaventata da un Poliwag. Ash, che stava cercando il Pokémon, la corse incontro per aiutarla e le legò un fazzoletto attorno al ginocchio. La aiutò quindi ad alzarsi e ad uscire dal bosco. Anni dopo, Ash parte da Biancavilla (che nell'adattamento italiano conserva il nome inglese di Pallet Town) all’età di 10 anni, intenzionato a diventare il più grande maestro di Pokémon al mondo. Nonostante il grande entusiasmo e le buone intenzioni, risulta essere molto testardo e principiante. Sebbene a Kanto di solito si inizi l'avventura con Bulbasaur, Charmander o Squirtle, il suo primo Pokémon è un Pikachu, consegnatogli il giorno stesso dal professor Oak, l’esperto Pokémon della città di fama mondiale. Questa scelta è dettata dal fatto che Ash si era svegliato in ritardo (avendo rotto la sveglia la sera prima) e quando arrivò trovò solo quel Pokémon disponibile. Parte in quarta, e ha un difficoltoso rapporto col suo Pokémon, disubbidiente e provocatorio, che si rifiuta di rientrare nella propria sfera (il Pokedex afferma che alcuni Pokémon prediligono restarne fuori); Ash, allora, è costretto ad usare guanti di gomma e a trascinarlo con un cavo a forza, e per quanto cerchi di mostrare buone intenzioni, il Pokémon rifiuta di cooperare. Poco dopo Ash cattura i suoi primi Pokémon, un Caterpie e un Pidgeotto, sebbene molto fortunatamente, madimostra un certo impegno ed entusiasmo. Giunto a Plumbeopoli decide di iniziare la raccolta delle 8 medaglie necessarie a partecipare alla Lega Pokémon, ma Brock, il Capopalestra locale specializzato nel tipo Roccia, si dimostra un avversario nettamente superiore. L’inaspettato intervento del padre del Capopalestra aiuta Ash a potenziare Pikachu per riuscire a battere i Pokémon roccia, ma sebbene riesca a vincere contro Geodude, l’Onix di Brock è reso vulnerabile solo dall'acqua dell’impianto ntincendio della palestra. Ash quindi si rifiuta di vincere quell'incontro, fermato dai numerosi fratellini e sorelline di Brock, e riparte quindi per allenarsi. Tuttavia Brock lo raggiunge e gli fa dono della propria medaglia, e in seguito al ritorno del padre lascia la palestra per seguire Ash e Misty nella loro avventura.Poco tempo dopo giungono a Celestopoli e Misty si rivela essere la quarta delle sorelle che gestiscono la palestra della città. Per evitare che le altre 3 regalassero la Medaglia Cascata ad Ash in mancanza di Pokémon con cui combattere, scende in campo per affrontare il ragazzo. L’incontro però non viene portato a termine a causa del Team Rocket, ma Ash ottiene comunque la medaglia grazie alla gratitudine della Capopalestra per averla aiutata a sconfiggere i cattivi. Ripreso il viaggio, in vari mesi Ash riesce a catturare numerosi Pokémon (tra i primi: Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Krabby, Muk, Primeape), ma è costretto a liberare il suo Butterfree per la stagione degli accoppiamenti con molta sofferenza, ma preferendo il bene del proprio Pokémon al suo. Riuscirà infine a ottenere, a volte per fortuna a volte per meritate vittorie, le 8 medaglie necessarie per partecipare al torneo dell’Altopiano Blu, con la speranza di affrontare il suo rivale d’infanzia, Gary Oak, che tuttavia viene sconfitto al turno precedente rispetto ad Ash (pur vantando molta più esperienza teorica ed almeno 200 Pokémon catturati). Ash viene invece sconfitto al turno successivo (agli ottavi di finale) da Ritchie, un allenatore dalle numerose somiglianze con Ash (tra cui anche un Pikachu di nome Sparky). Deluso, Ash riprende il proprio viaggio con gli amici, dirigendosi verso le Isole Orange (non presenti in alcuna versione dei giochi) per recuperare dalla professoressa Ivy, l’esperta della regione, la Sfera GS da consegnare poi ad Oak. Tuttavia, venuto a conoscenza dell’esistenza di un torneo anche in questa regione, Ash decide di parteciparvi viaggiando tra le varie isole per ottenere le Medaglie dei quattro Capipalestra; in quest’avventura Brock lascia temporaneamente il suo ruolo per restare accanto alla Prof. Ivy, di cui si è innamorato, e insieme con Ash viaggia il giovane Tracey, promettente pittore e grande fan del prof. Oak. Per tutto il viaggio tra le isole Orange, il trio si muove tramite un cucciolo di Lapras, salvato da Ash. Dimostrando di aver conquistato molta esperienza e sicurezza Ash riesce a vincere le medaglie e in seguito a sconfiggere il Capo della Squadra Orange (nome collettivo dei 5 esperti della regione) ottenendo un trofeo e un posto nella sala d’onore dell'Isola Pummelo. Inoltre, nelle isole Orange Ash cattura uno Snorlax. Tuttavia durante questo viaggio Ash dimostra ancora una certa infantilità e mancanza di stile e controllo, in particolare nello sfidare in un incontro non ufficiale Lorelei, la prima dei Superquattro, originaria di quella regione, da cui impara un po’ di umiltà. Alla fine del viaggio, il Lapras di Ash ritrova il suo branco e Ash lo lascia libero di riunirsi alla madre. Tornato a Biancavilla Ash incontra Gary, e sicuro di sé per le vittorie conseguite lo sfida. Tuttavia l’Eevee del rivale riesce ad avere la meglio sul Pikachu di Ash. Viene quindi rivelato che in quei mesi si è duramente allenato per partecipare ad un nuovo campionato nella regione di Johto, e Ash decide di seguirlo, con approvazione di Oak che gli affida nuovamente la sfera GS affinché la porti da Franz, esperto forgiatore di Poké Ball, ad Azalina. Tracey decide di fermarsi col prof. Oak e Brock torna per unirsi al gruppo. A Johto Ash fa nuove conquiste (tra cui Totodile, Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Noctowl cromatico) e ottiene nuove vittorie, imparando sempre nuove cose. È costretto a lasciare alcuni dei suoi più fedeli compagni: Charizard, che resta ad allenarsi coi suoi simili in una valle sperduta; e Squirtle, che torna ad aiutare i suoi vecchi compagni diventati Pokémon pompieri. In questo viaggio la rivalità con Gary è più accentuata e professionale (rispetto alle discussioni “infantili” che avevano a Kanto). Giunti alla lega, Ash riesce a qualificarsi e a battere il suo rivale durante il torneo della vittoria dei primi 32 allenatori. In seguito sarà tuttavia sconfitto da Harrison, un allenatore più maturo e adulto della regione di Hoenn, che col suo Blaziken avrà infine la meglio sul Charizard di Ash dopo un emozionante sfida totale 6 vs 6. Durante questo torneo (conferenza Argento) Gary rivela inoltre che questa è la sua ultima occasione, e avendo perso, si ritira definitivamente dalle competizioni per seguire le orme del nonno come ricercatore Pokémon. In seguito anche Brock e Misty (riavuta la sua bici dalla nuova infermiera di Smeraldopoli) lasceranno Ash il quale, persi i punti di riferimento, decide di ripartire da zero col solo Pikachu verso la nuova regione: Hoenn. Nella sua nuova avventura, Ash incontra la giovane Vera all'inizio del suo viaggio e distruggendo anche la sua bici, i due viaggiano insieme. In seguito si aggiungeranno al gruppo il fratello della ragazza (Max) e Brock. Ash matura nuove esperienze e affronta grandi sfide per la conquista delle otto medaglie, che riesce a vincere mostrando di essere oramai un abile Allenatore. Cattura inoltre una nuova squadra (Swellow, Grovyle, Torkoal, Corphish e Glalie) Ash mentre usa l'Aura all'interno dell'Albero dell'Inizio Giunto ad Iridopoli, vince diverse lotte e ha 2 nuovi avversari, Morrison e Tyson; sconfigge il primo, ma il secondo ha la meglio e porta Ash a concludere la sua avventura con lo stesso risultato di Johto. Successivamente, di passaggio a Smeraldopoli, avrà modo di affrontare un'altra Superquattro, (Agatha), temporaneamente sostituta del Capopalestra e Scott, che gli propone di affrontare il Parco Lotta, costituito da 7 strutture gestite ciascuna da un allenatore professionista paragonabile ad un Superquattro. Ash accetta e riparte con Brock, Vera e Max, maturando importanti esperienze e dimostrando il suo valore. Tuttavia, alla settima ed ultima struttura trova nel suo leader (Baldo, re Piramide) un ostacolo arduo che lo sprona a migliorare e a crearsi uno stile più personale, di cui era ancora carente. Alla terza sfida tra i due, Ash riesce infine a vincere in un 4 vs 4, sconfiggendo anche il Regice dell’avversario. Tuttavia, rifiuta di diventare un asso del parco e di avere la propria struttura, ripartendo spronato dagli insegnamenti di Baldo. Lasciati Vera e Max, Ash decide di andare a Sinnoh, luogo in cui Gary sta seguendo le sue ricerche, dopo la sconfitta che quest’ultimo gli ha inferto con il suo Electivire. Qui si unisce a Lucinda e Brock. Vive nuove avventure, conquista molti nuovi Pokémon (Staraptor, Torterra, Buizel, Infernape, Gliscor e Gible), sviluppando, come suggerito da Baldo, uno stile personale grazie anche a Lucinda con cui avrà un ottima affinità in allenamento. A Sinnoh Ash incontra anche nuovi rivali, tra cui Paul, un giovane dal carattere opposto, con il quale si accende da subito una forte rivalità. Il giovane di Biancavilla prende il Chimchar che Paul aveva abbandonato per la sua debolezza, e che diventerà un punto di confronto importante. Pur non considerandolo molto, Paul rivaluta Ash quando viene a sapere che egli ha battuto Baldo (laddove invece il fratello maggiore di Paul, Reggie, fu sconfitto), lo stesso Paul verrà poi sconfitto da Baldo e quindi lui ed Ash si sfidano in un 6 vs 6 da cui Ash esce con una bruciante sconfitta, riuscendo a vincere solo 2 Pokémon di Paul. È un duro colpo per Ash, ma sa riprendersi grazie ai suoi amici e riprende la sua avventura per migliorarsi. Infatti, nel torneo della lega del Giglio della Valle, riesce a vincere con la stessa squadra della precedente lotta. Perderà successivamente nella semifinale contro Tobias, il quale, usando solo i leggendari Latios e Darkrai, non trova molta difficoltà nel trionfare. Ash durante la Coppa Adriano Nella serie best Wishes!, Ash parte per un viaggio con il Professor Oak e sua madre nella regione di Unima. Dopo aver perso un incontro con Diapo ed aver visto la potenza del leggendario Zekrom, Ash si interessa a viaggiare attraverso Unima per incontrare nuovi Pokémon, così come nuovi amici. Durante il tempo passato ad Unima, assieme alla conquista delle medaglie, Ash compete in vari tornei locali come il Torneo del Club di Lotta, il Donamite e la Coppa Junior del Pokémon World Tournament. Grazie al gran numero di catture che è riuscito a compiere, non utilizza nessuno dei suoi vecchi Pokémon: nel primo round sconfigge Diapo, concludendo la loro rivalità; poi vince contro Stephan. Nei quarti di finale lotta contro uno dei suoi ultimi rivali, Cameron, perdendo in A un passo dalla vittoria!, arrivando quindi tra i primi 8 della Lega di Unima. Una caratteristica di Ash che non è cambiata nel corso della serie, oltre alla sua determinazione e passione nell'allenare i Pokémon, è quella di cercare di guadagnarsi la lealtà ed il rispetto di un Pokémon, aiutando quelli che vede in difficoltà. Ash vestito da Barone al Castello Lotta Nella serie XY, Ash viaggia verso la regione di Kalos assieme ad Alexia, che ha incontrato nelle Isole Cristalline. Visita prima Luminopoli in Kalos, dove iniziano i sogni e le avventure!, dove si separa dalla ragazza per andare a sfidare la Palestra di Luminopoli alla Torre Prisma, per essere espulso dal sistema di sicurezza (che si scoprirà essere controllato da Lembot), perché ancora privo di Medaglie. Viene salvato da Lem e Clem, che decidono di viaggiare assieme a lui dopo aver calmato una Garchomp adirata sulla vetta della torre. In Una lotta sul filo di ghiaccio!, Ash vince la sua prima Medaglia di Kalos, la Medaglia Insetto, dopo aver sconfitto la Capopalestra di Novartopoli, Violetta. Al gruppo si aggiunge anche Serena, che si scopre aver già conosciuto Ash da bambina al Campeggio Pokémon Estivo del Professor Oak, anche se lui non si ricorda del loro incontro. In Il segreto di Lem!, Ash viene a sapere che Lem è il Capopalestra di Luminopoli. Anche se all'inizio è arrabbiato per il fatto che il suo amico gli ha nascosto un segreto così grande, alla fine lo perdona e lo incoraggia a riprendesi la Palestra da Lembot, il robot che ne ha preso il controllo e ha espulso Lem quando ha provato a sfidarlo. Anche se la richiesta delle quattro Medaglie viene eliminata, Ash decide di non sfidare la Palestra finché non le avrà ottenute, scegliendo Lem come suo avversario al posto di Lembot. Durante il viaggio, il gruppo inizia ad imparare i segreti della Megaevoluzione, dopo aver incontrato il Professor Platan, Diantha e Cetrillo, oltre ad aver viaggiato brevemente assieme ad Ornella. Più tardi, Ash cattura un perso e traumatizzato Goomy, che fa crescere prima in uno Sliggoo e poi in un potente Goodra. Dopo aver ottenuto la sua quarta Medaglia, Ash alla fine affronta Lem nella loro lotta in Palestra tre contro tre e vince, guadagnando la quinta Medaglia. Successivamente, Ash ed i suoi amici arrivano alla vecchia casa di Goodra, dove vengono a sapere che è stata occupata da una Florges e dai suoi seguaci. Dopo aver salvato il luogo dal Team Rocket, risolvendo simultaneamente il problema con Florges, Ash lascia il suo Goodra in modo che possa agire da protettore per la sua casa natale e per i Pokémon che ci vivono. Famiglia Ash da piccolo Ash ha vissuto con la madre, Delia Ketchum, fino alla partenza per il suo viaggio Pokémon all'età di dieci anni. Suo padre non è mai stato introdotto. L'anime suggerisce che suo padre sia stato una volta un Allenatore di Pokémon che ha iniziato il suo viaggio da Biancavilla, e che è ancora in vita. Un'intervista con lo storyboarder della serie ha confermato che il padre di Ash è un Allenatore sul proprio cammino. - Ash Ketchum(JP) is the main character of the Pokémon anime series and the Electric Tale of Pikachu manga. He travels with his very first Pokémon, a Pikachu. In the earliest episodes, he made his journey to become a Pokémon Master with friends Misty and Brock, each with a goal of their own. Throughout the years, everything from Ash's clothes to the people he travels with have changed. He is first dressed in a dark undershirt, blue and white short sleeve jacket, and blue jeans. He is then seen wearing a dark blue hoodie in the Hoenn episodes, and a white shirt with a dark short sleeve jacket in the Sinnoh region. Ash's only known family so far is his mother, Delia Ketchum, who lives in Pallet Town with her Pokémon, Mr. Mime. She's a caring, but some overprotective mom that tries to ensure Ash did everything to make his life better, including reminding Ash to change his underwear every time they meet (Ash had actually been seen in his underwear, a pair of blue and white striped boxers, in a few episodes). Ash's father was mentioned in one of the earliest episodes, but his identity has never been revealed. The names "Ash" and "Satoshi" (as in the creator of the Pokémon franchise, Satoshi Tajiri) were default choices for names in Pokémon Red. Die beiden hatten am Anfang einige Startschwierigkeiten: Erst als sie zusammen gegen einen Schwarm Habitak kämpfen mussten und Ash dabei alles versucht hat, um sein verletztes Pokémon zu beschützen, hat Pikachu ihn als Trainer akzeptiert. Von da an waren die beiden unzertrennliche Freunde. In einer späteren Johto-Folge wird er mithilfe eines Zaubertrankes für kurze Zeit selbst in ein Pikachu verwandelt. Aber Pikachu sollte nicht Ashs einziger Begleiter bleiben. Neben verschiedenen Pokémon schließen sich ihm auch einige menschliche Freunde an: In der ersten Staffel der TV-Serie (Indigo Liga) wird er von Rocko und Misty begleitet. In der zweiten Staffel (Orange Liga) folgen Misty und Tracy Ash auf seinem Weg. Von Staffel 3 (Die Johto Reisen) bis Staffel 5 (Master Quest) ist anstelle von Tracy wieder Rocko dabei. Ab Staffel 6 (Advanced Generation), die für Ash eine Art Neuanfang darstellt, sind Maike, Max und Rocko an seiner Seite. Daneben kreuzen zahlreiche Nebencharaktere öfter seinen Weg, z.B. Gary, Richie und Misty. Als ständige Gegner machen Jessie, James und Mauzi vom Team Rocket Ash auf seinen Reisen das Leben schwer und dazu kommt, dass in der Hoenn Region auch noch das berüchtigte Team Magma und das hinterhältige Team Aqua lauern und in der Sinnoh Region gibt es auch noch das Team Galaktik, jedoch nicht mehr Team Magma und Team Aqua. In Sinnoh schließen im neben seinem alten Rocko auch die junge Koordiantorin Lucia an, die in von den Staffel 10 (Diamond and Pearl) bis zur Staffel 13 (Sieger der Sinnoh Liga) begleiten. Danach verabschiedet er sich von Rocko und Lucia und reist in die Einall Region. Dort trifft er auf die Professorin Esche und den Trainer Diaz, der sein Rivale in dieser Region wird. Außerdem lernt er die Trainerin Lilia und später den Pokemon- Kenner Benny kennen, die ihn von Staffel 14 (Schwarz und Weiß) bis Staffel 16 (Abenteuer in Einall... und drüber hinaus) begleiten. Ab Staffel 17 kommt Ash in Kalos an, von der er von der Journalistin Alba in Einall hört. Seine neuen Begleiter sind der Erfinder Citro, seine kleine Schwester Heureka und Serena, ein Mädchen das ihn schon seit Kindheitstagen kennt. Ash erhält in Kalos den Wasserstarter Froxy als ersten neuen Freund und fängt bald danach das Rotkelchen Pokemon Dartiri, welches sich nach einiger Weile zu seiner ersten Entwicklungsstufe Dartignis weiterentwickelt. Ebenso fängt er sich das Wrestlingpokemon Resladero und nach einiger Zeit entwickelt sich sein Froxy zu Amphizel weiter. Danach freundet sich Ash mit dem kleinen Drachenpokemon Viscora an, welches er nach anfänglichen Schwierigkeiten als viertes Pokemon aus der Kalos Region fängt.

As soon as he was ten years old, he rushed to Professor Oak's Laboratory to get his first Pokémon. He is the first human character to be introduced in the series. Originally wanting to choose Squirtle, Ash ended up receiving the Pokémon Pikachu, as he was late, and left on his journey. He has been through all of the regions. At first, Pikachu did not obey Ash and kept running away, so Ash had to tie him up. After getting chased by a flock of Spearow, Ash attempted to save Pikachu from them; seeing Ash so determined to help him, Pikachu protected Ash from the Spearow by electrocuting the entire flock, thanks to being struck by lightning at that exact moment, supercharging his Electric-type move. From then on, Pikachu and Ash became best friends for life. As a completely unskilled trainer, Ash started his adventure while meeting his friends Misty and Brock and capturing new Pokémon. Ash eventually defeated all the Gym Leaders in Kanto, allowing him to enter in the Pokémon League. Since then, he has continued to travel, journeying through the various regions, making new friends such as Tracey, May, Max, Dawn, Iris, Cilan, Clemont, Bonnie, and meeting his childhood friend Serena, challenging all the Gym Leaders, entering each region's Pokémon League, and catching new Pokémon while still following his goal of becoming a Pokémon Master. Since this goal is so close to his heart, he sometimes acts a bit rash and rushes to the next battle he can as fast as possible without thinking. Ash is currently traveling in the Alola region, with his new friends Lillie, Mallow, Lana, Sophocles and Kiawe. Ash's name in the Japanese version of the anime is Satoshi, likely after Satoshi Tajiri, the creator of Pokémon.
