Seeking to use its remains to either create or become the ultimate life form, Heihachi gathered up bone fragments from its hooves and stray hairs to study it. It was in possession of magical blood which could heal illnesses such as that of Dr. Bosconovitch and help finish his research to revive his daughter. It may
  • Ogres, are large, human-eating creatures of human-like appearance. Often mistaken for giants, ogres range in size from 9 to 12 feet tall, with strength to match. They have prominent tusks growing out of their jaws and large talons on their feet--both quite suitable for tearing their prey open. some ogres are reported to also have small horns growing out of their hard, thick skulls; their skins are various dirty, dark yellowy shades and covered with warts. Their tempers range from bad to worse. Ogres live in dark places, mostly underground, but often deep in some dark hollow or forest. They tend to live in pairs, male with female, and both are equally fearsome. Fierce ogres are dangerous entities that could easily kill an unarmed man, or even a armed man lacking sufficient luck or skill. So
  • Ogres were a brutish race native to the Demon Realm. Scholars studying demon history believe that the ogres may have been the bandits or monsters that harassed the more peaceful demons until Mardük appeared in the form of Wolf of Chaos to fight against them. According to the Book of Kagetsu, ogres and demons were brought to the Land of the Living to fight in the War of the Gods until they were returned back to their home realm although this seems to contradict with other accounts such as the Legend of the Three Brothers which claims that Demon Realm didn't get involved with other realms until the Chaos War.
  • Their team uniform consists of dark red T-shirts -- the sleeves ending around the elbow -- with dark purple and white patterns. This is fitted along with dark purple shorts, purple socks and red cleats. The goalkeeper uniform is a black long sleeved shirt, with blue and white patterns just like on the normal uniform that is fitted along with black shorts, white socks and black cleats. Their second uniform consists of white T-shirts with dark purple and dark red patterns. The goalkeeper uniform is lime green and the marks are purple.
  • Ogres are large, brutish humanoids originally from Draenor. They were one of the last races of Draenor's giants. Many were enslaved by the powerful Gronn. Several free ogre clans came through the Dark Portal before the First War. These ogres had a blood hatred to the orcs second only to their hatred of humans. They favored lands that were not frequented by orcs, and were seldom seen near other races' encampments. Regular ogres and two-headed ogres are not spellcasters; the ogre magi make up the smarter, spellcasting versions of ogres.
  • Ogres are the massive, brutish shock troopers of the darkspawn horde. Dwarfing their darkspawn brethren, ogres attack opponents with brute force and monumental strength, acting as living siege weapons. Standing above even the normal ogres are the ogre alphas; these monstrosities are no larger, but are far stronger, and are usually accompanied by shrieks.
  • The strength of an Ogre is determined by the size of his gut. The larger an Ogre, the higher up the social ladder he is. Greasus Goldtooth, the Overtyrant of the Ogre Kingdoms, is so fat he must be carried on his ornate throne by a horde of Gnoblar slaves. In every single tribe the Ogres as a whole worship only one god, called the Great Maw. It is a deity whose appearance is that of a gaping mouth so large that it would spread a mile apart and is supposedly responsible for destroying the Ogres' original homeland. Ogre shamans (known as Butchers or Slaughtermasters) use the unique energies of the Great Maw to bestow benefits and protection upon other Ogres during battle, while the powerful Tyrants and Bruisers lead the Ogres on the frontlines. Ogres are also famed travellers and can be foun
  • A Sötét Portál előtt...
  • When engaging Ogres, be mindful that they have powerful attacks, making almost any position unsafe regardless of cover. At range, they will use Void blasts from their foreheads that can easily disorient and take down players. However, this spot is also the main weak point on an Ogre, and shooting there will deal critical damage. Therefore, be sure to try and get an angle off to the side, away from the main line of fire of the Ogre's energy blast to get easy shots on its forehead without it being able to keep track of you.

  • Hop o' My Thumb, illustrated by Gustave DoréThe word ogre is of French origin. Its earliest attestation is in Chrétien de Troyes' late 12th century verse romance Perceval, li contes del graal, which contains the lines: “ et s'est escrit que il ert ancore que toz li reaumes de Logres, qui ja dis fu la terre as ogres, ert destruite par cele lance
  • Ogres are the largest and strongest of the races, averaging over seven feet in height. They resemble enormous humans, but tend to be almost hairless. While Ogres often organize into tightly-knit communities, they tend not to interact much with the other races. Their cities are usually located in mountainous or hilly areas, and their buildings are made from stones so large that no other people would be able to move them. * Rogue * Bard * Wizard * Ranger * Shaman * Witch * Barbarian * Valkyrie
  • An Ogre is a big fat tall monster which makes a lot of funny sounds. What they lack in beauty and brains, they make up for with their size and strength. They are the strongest of all races and the dumbest. Some few ogres do sometimes see the light, a bit, and have some sense born in them. Ogre's are deadly killers who use their brute force to kill and eat everything they can get their oversized hands on.
  • Ogres are big, ugly, lazy and greedy creatures. They live through raiding and scavenging, joining with other monsters through weak alliances to prey on the weak only until their their bad-temper gets the better of them. They stand at least 9 feet tall and weigh between 600 and 650 pounds. Their skin colour ranges from dull yellow to dark brown with their meagre clothing consisting of poorly cured hides or furs which add to their naturally repellent odour. Ogres solve problems through smashing them; if it cannot be smashed, it is either ignorable or something worthy of fleeing from. These beasts dwell in tribal groups, occupying any convenient location and eating anything they can catch, steal, slay or sometimes just within reach. Ogres speak Giant and, those with above-average intelligence

Description
  • Class-specific summon for Warlord and up
  • The Ogre is basically the closest thing you can get to a human giant . It's evil, doesn't learn very well and, because its not supposed to be played as, has a lot of bugs such as no dance, however it's very good in close combat.
  • Ogre is a type of monster in ADOM. They are common monsters that can fire rocks and smash doors. They often drop slings when killed. A large amount of ogres can be found in the appropriately named Ogre Cave, and lesser vaults and tension rooms of ogres may also be found.

  • Ogre is Siegfried's joke weapon in Soulcalibur V. Unlike most joke weapons, Ogre actually looks like a weapon reminiscent of the Aztec Macahuitl.
  • Ogres are gross, ugly humanoids who love to fight and kill. However, they are not particularly discriminating and will hire their services out to the higest bidder. They are not an overly cruel race, but they are brutal and have little respect for the weak or helpless. Formerly Human, they were tainted in the unfathomably distant past by the effects of Chaos upon their northern homeland. Ogres were once common in Norsca and even the northern part of the Old World, but now they are a rare and diminishing race. They live for eating and fighting and their main god is called 'The Great Maw'. Although their digestive systems are puny compared to those of a Troll, they will eat almost any animal or vegetable matter and their terms for other races nearly always translate into 'food', 'vittles', or some similar term. One story sums up typical Ogrish attitudes to eating and fighting: an Ogre mercenary captain is said to have said to his human employer during a battle, 'Oy, slim! Shift yer starters and we'll make breakfast!', which is roughly translatable as 'I say, insignificantly small person, if you would like to move your front rank out of our way, we shall engage the enemy.' Many Ogrish idioms concern food and eating, and those Ogres who speak human tongues have a habit of translating these literally, which creates interesting problems of communication. 'Slim' is a term applied to most non-Ogres in conversation and occasionally an Ogre will address another Ogre as 'slim' by way of an insult. When something is unspeakably bad or horrifying, an Ogre might say 'It nearly put me off me tea', while 'troll's leavings' is a term with the same meaning as 'Sweet FA'. Eating contests are popular amongst Ogres as a form of duel, and the ultimate triumph for an Ogre is to win the contest by eating his opponent. Ogres speak their own snorting, growling language, known as Grumbarth, although many get by in Norse and a few have a smattering of Old World languages. Ogres wear very basic dress, usually natural furs and leather or materials they can steal or trade from cooperative humans. They favour immense bludgeoning and chopping weapons
Close combat is ill-advised, as their powerful melee attacks will make short work of players, so always keep your distance.
  • The ogre magi are powerful, intelligent, cunning, and talented giantkin that possess several potent abilities. They often stand 10-feet tall and can weigh 700 lbs. They typically lead ogres and other large creatures, both as a mastermind and as a war leader; their abilities work best with allies. Ogre magi are versatile giants that combine physical and magical prowess in combat, using their prodigious strength to deal out significant amounts of damage while relying on its regeneration ability to keep shrug off wounds.
  • An ogre is a large human-like monster. They can be found west or south of Yanille around Gu'Tanoth, and at the Combat Training Camp (which can only be accessed after completing the quest Biohazard). The training camp is an excellent way to train ranged or magic as the ogres are caged and cannot be attacked with melee. Their hostility varies by location; they can be either aggressive or combative.

  • Ogre magi are a more intelligent, magic-using subspecies of ogre.
  • Ogres are large fleshy creatures with bulbous bodies, skin and fat hanging off in folds, misshapen, penile heads outfitted with tusks, and dark-brown fur covering them from the waist down. Their eyes are placed on the front of their heads on either side of the upper slit of their tripartite jaws. Their noses are piglike snouts located at the peaks of their heads, and their ears are small and pointed, and rest on the sides of their heads. Ogres have three fingers on each hand.
  • Ogres (Oh-grr) are a race of strong, honorable, peaceful, cave-dwelling frog-eaters. They are large, thick-headed, slow-witted, and brutish as well as sloppy. The Ogre culture apparently revolves around brotherhood and strength, they show high regard for individuals who display great strength, and particularly enjoy matching their strength with others in sumo-wrestling matches. Most Ogres are a bit rude, and very crude, tending to say what they think and take what they want, no matter if it is rightfully another’s or not. The Ogres are not inherently evil, they are quite the opposite, and some can even be heroic. Ogres have a blood hatred toward the Burnakks and they favor lands not frequented by Burnakks, and are seldom seen near their encampments.
  • Ogres are magical creatures. Ron and Hermione saw an ogre-like being in the Three Broomsticks, during their first trip to Hogsmeade on 31 October, 1993. The Weird Sisters reference to ogres in the song Do The Hippogriff. It is possible that they are classified as beings by the Ministry of Magic.
  • A Sötét Portál előtt... Végül szembenézhetett a Hadúr, Kor'gall-al, akit sikerült legyőznie. Ezután a klán új neve Alkony Pöröly (Twilight Hammer) lett. Immár a cél a pusztítás terjesztése lett.
  • The Ogre was the fictional alter ego of Bialar Crais, in a mental video game-like device designed from John Crichton's memories. He was an axe-wielding monster who was married to the false princess alter ego of Aeryn Sun. The Ogre had a huge amount of strength and was easily able to wield his giant axe. He also loved destruction, would happily kill anything for fun, and was skilled in battle. His violent ways gave him a terrible reputation among the other denizens of the game, and most expressed fear of his reprisals for any stepping out of line. Believing Aeryn's alter ego to be the princess he was to kiss, Crichton and Chiana engaged the Ogre and a pair of his minions in battle. Though the Ogre seemed to be more than a match for Crichton, Chiana was able to defeat her opponents in time to throw a knife into his neck. Crichton finished him off with a final slice of his sword.
  • The Evil Queen stands in a clearing in the woods, surrounded by apparently deceased trees. "Who among us is tired of losing?". The camera pans away to reveal that she is not alone; by her side stands her valet, holding a bag. Also present are a few dark knights, minions of the Queen, the ogre, a gnome, and the blind witch, among others, all evil presences. They all form a circle around the clearing, at the center of which is a fire. The Queen tells them that their continuous losses are why she called them there: to put an end to their misery. She throws some items into the fire, as she says that they're there to claim their victory and move to a better realm. Howlings are heard around them, coming from nowhere. "A place where we can finally win.", the Queen says. The blind witch asks if they will be happy, and the Queen guarantees this to her. However, she adds that first she will need something from them: a lock of hair from those with the darkest souls. She tells them they must trust her, because if they don't, there are other ways. This said, the trees around them seem to come to an all new sort of life on their own, growing upwards in spiral motions, and evolving all the way up until the branches meet at the top of the clearing and form a dome of sorts above the wicked ones' heads. The gnome seems rather intimidated by this. The Queen smiles wickedly as she performs her magicks. The blind witch immediately takes a small knife from her belt garter and cuts off a bit of her hair. The gnome, still looking shaky, removes a tiny bit of his beard with his own gloved fingers. The ogre rips out his ponytail with his bare hand. The Queen passes by each of them, collecting the bits of their hair in a small basket. As she gets back to her original place, the trees go back to their previous form. She throws the hair onto the fire and says that all that remains is the final ingredient. This said, her father opens up a chest before her, containing what she deems a 'prized heart'. She takes it in her hands and reveals that it belonged to her childhood steam, a "glorious beast" whose passing will fuel their victory. "Let my wrath be unleashed.", she says, before she throws the heart into the fire. The flames instantly become more intense, and a spiraling cloud of smoke emerges from it and into the darkened sky, containing lightning in its midst. The gnome is further intimidated by it. The blind witch, unable to see it, opens up her arms and allows herself to feel its power. The Queen is overcome with a perverse joy, bathed in the power of her spell... until the power runs out. All of a sudden, the smoke funnel disappears, much to her surprise. The gnome starts laughing at her. He points at the Queen and says "Yeah, you really unleashed something there.", between laughs. She zaps him with a spell and he instantly turned into a stone statue. An irritated Queen leaves. ("The Thing You Love Most")

Ogres are the biggest race in Norrath , as well as the stupidest. Ogres can reach a height of ten feet tall, and are almost always warriors or an offspring of one. They spend much of their time battling against others: comparable to the amount of time an Erudite spends researching in a library. The Ogre spends most of his time hunting for food, as they have extremely large appetites. They are, justifiably, quite single-minded. Their thick skulls also give them a high level of resistance to being stunned in battle. The Ogre is one of the evil races in Norrath, and are only allies with the Trolls and Dark Elves. In the jungle of the Feerrott , the Ogres live in Oggok. Their Ogre home is Oggok on Antonica, they are of course large, over ten feet in height at least. They have infravision to see at night and in dark places. They also have the ability to slam opponents on their backs.

Ogres are seen to be moderately tamable, as such when Shrek calms down and starts his own family with his wife Fiona. In a time of danger, Ogres are seen to be witty and tactical. They are seen as very strong and in this Universe also intelligent. They are even wittier when they band together.

They are noted as particularly formidable foes because of their immense strength, speed, and exceptional cruelty. Wardens recommend caution fighting them because they are known to regenerate from non-fatal wounds within minutes. Fortunately, ogres are a rare sight on the surface, with a maximum of a hundred accompanying the darkspawn horde during blights. They are even uncommon in the Deep Roads, where they are sometimes observed hunting alone or in small groups.

Zniewolone klany często wykorzystywane były do różnych eksperymentów.

Because of their massive size and strength, Ogres make excellent fighters, and they are always greatly feared by their enemies. Their thick skins provide them a bonus to their armor resistance which increases as they gain in experience and makes them resistant to extreme heat and cold. They also tend to be a bit dull-witted and thus somewhat open to mental attacks. Their lack of intellect also prevents Ogres from using magic very well, and their massive size makes them ineffective as thieves. * Rogue * Bard * Wizard * Ranger * Shaman * Witch * Barbarian * Valkyrie

  • Organization for General Revenge and Enslavement is a criminal organization and are enemies of Aquaman. They are also known as "OGRE" and are well known at stealing weapons of mass destruction. Led by a mysterious leader known only as the Supreme One, O.G.R.E. attempted to steal and sell off a supply of atomic rockets. Aquaman and Mera, cooperating with the United States government fought up against O.G.R.E. and shut down their operations. O.G.R.E. employed two assassins named Typhoon and Huntress who ultimately betrayed the cartel and collaborated with Aquaman. O.G.R.E. later conned California millionaire Eliot Harlanson into purchasing an atomic bomb, which they intended on using to destroy Atlantis. The Federal Bureau of Investigation set up a sting operation to bring O.G.R.E. down. Agent 03, Honey James, pretended to be Harlanson's girlfriend and secretly brokered the sale of a "dud" a-bomb. As the bombing of Atlantis was alerted, the feds moved in and apprehended the remaining members of the O.G.R.E. organization.
  • Ogres were strong, muscled, and powerful creatures. They had claws, an oversized lower jaw, horns or bony knobs protruding from their skulls, and some had a shaggy, tangled black hair. No one had ever seen a female ogre. They used to be solitary creatures, fiercely territorial, who patroled their territories, destroying any intruders. Their fighting style consisted of smashing, crushing and ripping, and sometimes used their surroundings as tools and weapons.

  • While they don't feature in the games, Ogres are mentioned in the books. They seem to be big, brutish humanoids, praised for their brawn but not very intelligent. They seem to be the archetype that the monster category of ogroids is based upon. They do seem to have prominent tusks, as several half-ogre hybrid creatures feature these.
  • Foul, inbred, brutish creatures that manage to give the already loathed giantkind a bad name, ogres are savage beyond words and find mirth in the most shocking acts of cruelty. Although many Ogres fought and stole from humans, other clans merely wanted to find a place to settle down and farm. Some Ogres love farming, and they did not have enough space to farm in the Divine Realms. The nobles of Fief Dunlath, during their rebellion against King Jonathan in 450 HE, were using Ogres along with humans as slave labor in their illegal Black Opal mines. The ogres joined with humans, animals, and other immortals in the revolt against Dunlath's masters. The ogre Iakoju befriended Daine and others in the revolt.
Ogres speak Giant and, those with above-average intelligence, may speak Common. Ogres favour overwhelming odds, sneak attacks and ambushes. They do not fight a fair fight. They are intelligent enough to understand the benefit of ranged combat to soften up their foes, but their warbands fight as unorganised individuals. In some circumstances, ogres may accept mercenary service with other evil humanoids, including humans. These beasts have been sighted mostly in the Shade Mountains, according to local adventuring groups.

Massive brutes swinging around tree trunks, they can send cavalry flying with a single swipe. • Ogres (feminine: Ogress) are large monsters, often portrayed as being cruel and hideous (as the word denotes). Ogres are often depicted in fairy tales and folklore as feeding on human beings, and have appeared in many classic works of literature. • Ogres are justifiably proud of their strength, stupidity and ugliness. Most Ogres live in the Ogre-Fen-Ogre but they migrated thier from Lake Ogre-Chobee when the curse fiends built their community at the lake. A few ogres live in other places thought. In Ogre, Ogre, it is mentioned that the worst fights in Xanth are between two ogres. Ogres typically destroy anything they fight, including tangle trees and dragons. Considered by many to be brutal, violent creatures which would eat anyone, there are some exceptions to the rule, such as the vegetarian ogre Crunch, and his son, the half-ogre Smash. Most ogres consider ugliness to be beauty. The uglier a person to a human, the more an ogre will think they're beautiful. Ogres also appear to talk in rhymes though this may simply be caused by the listeners preconceived notions of what an ogre does.

They inherited their Troll ancestors weakness towards fire and acid, their Grue ancestors invulnerability to just about everything, their Hillary Clinton ancestor emotional instability and communistic ideals, and their Atheist ancestors invulnerability towards God(but not Natural Disasters), so they are pretty much invincible. Ogres are also distantly related to Princesss although some more than others, depending on the breeding patterns.
Other ogre clans were once allies with the Horde and some were enslaved by the Horde, rather than the Gronn. These enslaved clans were often used in experiments. These included monstrous two-headed versions that were created by Gul'dan and brought through the portal after the First War to act as enforcers to quell needless infighting between the orc clans. However, eventually these clans broke free and went their own separate ways. Later, the Stonemaul Clan joined the new Horde under the leadership of the Mok'Nathal named Rexxar. Ogre culture, such as it is, tend to revolve a great deal around warfare, violence, and acts of strength. Elimination of competitors is an accepted (in fact, it is the only) way to move up in the ogre ranks. The ogres have great admiration to those that can best them in strength or in combat, an admiration that far transcends anything else, including their hatred for other mortal races, specifically orcs and humans. There are rare but known cases of ogres bowing to the Horde when those have defeated them (such as the Stonemaul tribes) and even rarely the Alliance. (Also see Gordok, "King of the Ogres", and Ogri'la quest lines in The Burning Crusade). Regular ogres and two-headed ogres are not spellcasters; the ogre magi make up the smarter, spellcasting versions of ogres.

Regardless, Ogres are clearly stronger than Imps and are initially capable of nearly depleting John's health vial before he can respond with a single attack. They are also adept with weaponry, able to turn a tire swing and a large tome into effective weapons with ease. They seem to be more violent compared to the trickster Imps, preferring to openly attack the kids rather than just vandalizing their property. __TOC__

  • Ogres are heavily armored and surprisingly agile, high end bipedal Muscle Tracers, around the size of an AC unit they are designed to take on tough jobs. They are surprisingly durable and are equipped with a 84mm bazooka rifle and laser blade that it jabs like a parry blade with similar effect, making them formidable. This, along with their nearly unparalleled mobility for an MT, make Ogre's threats like very few MTs. These units appear in the Armored Core: Nexus Revolution disc, albeit alot bulkier and less mobile.
  • Ogre is a Golem breed with an Antlan sub-type, exclusive to Monster Rancher Advance and Monster Rancher Advance 2. It has a blue insect-like shell ober its shoulders and back, and a slate grey stomach and legs. Its eyes glow red and it has a white beard. Ogre is mentioned in Episode 36 of the anime series as the monster that terrorizes a village in the mountains. Their legend states that once a year on "Ogre Day," he kidnaps the village children and can only be stopped by Colona, the sun god.
  • An ogre was a mythical character in fairy tales. In 2267, James T. Kirk mentioned ogres when listing instinctive humanoid fears. (TOS: "Catspaw" ) In 2376, Neelix cited ogres as examples of why fairy tales were frightening to young children. (VOY: "The Haunting of Deck Twelve")
  • Ogres can stand up to 250 cm tall. They are very powerfully built, but they tend to be slightly overweight. Ogres are brutes whose only pleasure is hurting and killing other living beings. They charge their opponents while yelling and making threats. While charging they hold their clubs high over their heads. Even though the Ogres are very stupid, they can survive even in the hardest of regions in Agon.
  • Aggressive, strong, and dull-witted, ogres are quintessential brutes. They can be easily rallied to a cause if the promise of mayhem and destruction is strong enough. The stupidity of ogres is legendary; few of them can count to ten or build even the simplest shelter to protect their monstrous size. They can rarely speak the common tongue and their vocabulary is usually limited to the simplest notions, including “kill,” “gold,” and “mine!” Adventurers should expect no mercy from these boorish monsters, as ogres are notoriously cruel, bloodthirsty and greedy. Nevertheless, they are not indifferent to bribery and often decide to block frequently used pathways to racket those who wish to cross them. In combat, ogres are fearsome adversaries, slamming the ground with massive weapons — everything from human-sized clubs to giant tree trunks — and dealing bone-shattering blows. With average heights of around 12 feet, ogres tower over most opponents, and demonstrate incredible resiliency by enduring bevies of attacks without being defeated. Needless to say, ogres are not easily dealt with in combat. Their major weakness is their slow speed, which is about as ponderous as their trains of thought. Swift and agile adventurers can take advantage of this sluggishness, dodging the hulking ogres’ strikes and seizing the right moment for a timely counterattack. Savage and brutish, ogres are occasionally seen amongst the orcs of the Many-Arrows Tribe. They are kept in check by the orcs through promises of food, drink and the potential for violence. Lonely ogres can also be found in other part of Neverwinter, establishing their dens in large caves or ruins. Look out for these lumbering monsters as you adventure – and if you find yourself going toe-to-toe with an ogre, step nimbly, and be quick!

Heihachi was attempting to work to control it, luring it in by holding the King of Iron Fist Tournament 3, but then it was utterly destroyed by Jin. Seeking to use its remains to either create or become the ultimate life form, Heihachi gathered up bone fragments from its hooves and stray hairs to study it. It was in possession of magical blood which could heal illnesses such as that of Dr. Bosconovitch and help finish his research to revive his daughter. It may or may not have resurfaced between Tekken 4 and Tekken 5, according to the Devil Within mini-game in Tekken 5. His True Ogre form returns in Tag 2 as a normally selectable character in the Arcade version. His original form, now called Ancient Ogre, appears in the console versions as a DLC character available on day 1 for people who pre-ordered the game. He is voiced by Frank Welker, who is also voiced the True Ogre.
  • In 2002, An ogre was seen taking bets with a female creature while waiting in line to remove Excalibur from the stone. The same Ogre was later cursed to become a wimpy little man by the Wicked Witch of the Enchanted Forest. The curse was broken by Paige Matthews and the Ogre later assisted in saving Piper from the Spider demon.
  • Ogre is a Demi-Human monster in the MMORPG Elder Tale.
  • Hop o' My Thumb, illustrated by Gustave DoréThe word ogre is of French origin. Its earliest attestation is in Chrétien de Troyes' late 12th century verse romance Perceval, li contes del graal, which contains the lines: “ et s'est escrit que il ert ancore que toz li reaumes de Logres, qui ja dis fu la terre as ogres, ert destruite par cele lance ” "And it is written that he will come again to all the realms of Logres, known as the land of ogres, and destroy them with that lance." The ogres in this rhyme may refer to the ogres who, in the pseudohistorical work History of the Kings of Britain by Geoffrey of Monmouth, were the inhabitants of Britain prior to human settlement. Ogre could possibly derive from the two mythical giants Gog and Magog (or from the Greek river god Oiagros, father of Orpheus). The word ogre came into wider usage in the works of Charles Perrault (1628–1703) or Marie-Catherine Jumelle de Berneville, Comtesse d' Aulnoy (1650–1705), both of whom were French authors. Other sources say that the name is derived from the word Hongrois, which means Hungarian, as of western cultures referred to Hungarians as a kind of monstrosity. The word ogre is thought to have been popularized by the works of Italian author Giambattista Basile (1575–1632), who used the Neapolitan word uerco, or in standard Italian, orco. This word is documented in earlier Italian works (Fazio degli Uberti, XIV cent.; Luigi Pulci, XV; Ludovico Ariosto, XV-XVI) and has even older cognates with the Latin orcus and the Old English orcnēas found in Beowulf lines 112-113, which inspired J.R.R. Tolkien's Orc. All these words may derive from a shared Indo-European mythological concept (as Tolkien himself speculated, as cited by Tom Shippey, The Road to Middle-earth, 45). Some see the French myth of the ogre as being inspired by the real-life crimes of Gilles de Rais. The first appearance of the word ogre in Perrault's work occurred in his Histoires ou Contes du temps Passé (1697). It later appeared in several of his other fairy tales, many of which were based on the Neapolitan tales of Basile. The first example of a female ogre being referred to as an ogress is found in his version of Sleeping Beauty, where it is spelled ogresse. The Comtesse d' Aulnoy first employed the word ogre in her story L'Orangier et l' Abeille (1698), and was the first to use the word ogree to refer to the creature's offspring.

It is not clear where the chests come from, why Ogres get them, or how Ogres even open the chests. These are topics of heated debate among scholars. A female Ogre is known as an Ogress. Fortunately, ogres seem to be rare in Gloriana. The Hero encounters only two during in his adventures, one guarding the Kobold Mage in Spielburg Valley and Baba Yaga.

Ogres are also famed travellers and can be found all across the world in small groups of Mercenaries, offering their services to paying customers. They are not fussy with whom they fight for or against as long as they get a good meal in the bargain. It has been noted that the Ogres have also employed themselves in the service of Chaos, and such Ogres are rewarded with horrible mutations for their aid to the dark powers.
  • The best place to kill ogres for Slayer is directly west of Yanille, near the little island surrounded by water, although the location may be crowded with cannon users that can making training there inhospitable.
  • The Ancient Ogre is a powerful Sumerian deity, and also a villain from the Tekken series. He is the main antagonist of Tekken 3 and the Devil Within mini-game in Tekken 5. • While Ogres are immensely strong and are often taller than Minotaurs, even though they do not match the combat prowess and cunning savagery that the Minotaurs possess. Orges have less intellectual potential than the majority of other races, and they are known for being highly barbaric. The culture of the Ogres is a simple one, consisting of few customs and traditions. Ogre government consists of a Grand Chief who rules over several other chiefs. Who holds the title of Grand Chief is determined solely by who is the strongest.
  • Ogres are big, fat creatures that serve the God of war, Bandos. Their adaptability was wisely used by Bandos, and it resulted in the creation of Mogres (marine ogres) and Jogres (jungle ogres).

Whatever the truth is, after Mardük's descent into madness, the transformed and corrupted demons attacked and slew anyone who called them monsters in their home realm, and this very likely included ogres too. It's unknown if any ogre survived the onslaught and if their race survived to the present day. The legacy of the ogres, which invading demons of the First Age might've brought with them, would live on among the Ryuugumi and the Yamatians who treated ogres as mythic monsters just like many other nations treated trolls. The name of the pirate ship Big Ugly Ogre was inspired by the legend of ogres, and the First Age hero Big Ogre Umaro got his name thanks to his immense strength and beastly looks.
  • Ogres inhabit Hexter along with orcs. They are massive humanoids with long arms, and a posture of that of an Ape. They are generally higher in rank than orcs and usually lead them into battle. Some intelligent or skilled ogres will rise to the position of warcheif in their tribe and command the whole tribe. They are more intelligent than most orcs but not as intelligent as humans. Ogres are massive warriors capable of killing whole units single handed without any weapons, they are not to be underestimated. When Regnier took over Hexter, the Ogre cheiftains gave him their complete loyalty and the command of their tribes. Known ogres * Urukubarr: Commander of the Western Tribes of Hexter, as well as leader of the Gorzanik Tribe, and the strongest ogre warrior in Hexter, Urukubarr is currently under Regnier's command. * Amasha: A Warchief unfer Urukubarr's command * Omgar: A Warchief unfer Urukubarr's command * Kinsa: A warchief under Jubal's command. * Kulu: A warchief under Jubal's command. * Thaknarb: a hierable ogre in the bar (dark legion only) * Urgog: a hierable ogre in the bar (dark legion only) * Rulkmorg:a hierable ogre in the bar (dark legion only) * Darokha: Leader of the Eastern Tribes of Hexter, and warchief of the Darokha Tribe, Darokha's Strength, and numbers are second only to the strongest warrior in Hexter, Urukubarr. * Jubal: Leader of the Juraï Tribe that shares the border with Hironeidon as Master of Eastern Hexter, he is third strongest warrior in Hexter and shares an alliance with Vellond. Jubal's nickname is "The Black Anvil" * Charuga Father of jubal and former Chifeten of the jurri tribe. * There are a few others in the Pub when you are playing various Dark Legion Campaigns, but they are not significant * Nazarahm is argumentabaly the fourth strongest ogre in hexter completing this group of four mighty ogres as no other orc chifeten is mentiond and who is green besides Rulkmorg. likeJubal Nazarahm was branded a traitor by urukubarr and the united orcs. Unlike Jubal however Nazarahm is marked a traitor for the right reasons as he sold Gorzanick orcs as slaves where as Jubal was wrongly branded as urukubarr was not in posestion of the knowledge that Kadaes was behind the "ghoul raid." Nazarahm looks to be slain by urukubarr in the first level of urukubarr campaighn. but in the seccond mission he is then saved by urukubarr during the "ghoul raid" when this should be Darokha he saves. so if Nazarahm is now part of the mighty orc and ogre tribe allience we may never know?

Some species of ogres are normally solitary creatures. Ogres are not known to be overly ambitious. Some will not chase after humans, unless they have no other choice. Ogres are also not known to be reliable. Ogres are cousins to trolls. Some ogres are shorter, but still immense; fully 8 feet tall, with wide shoulders, brawny chest, and long arms thick with muscles. Their chest and shoulders are covered with coarse, coppery hair. Two long, yellowed fangs, project from their lower jaw, peaking over a thin upper lip. They dress in ragged trousers, greasy jerkins of stiff leather. Graham stumbled across one in his exploration of Daventry; he was invisible at the time, so the ogre didn't see him. It probably smelled Graham, as that sense is well developed in their kind. Rosella had to enter the home of an ogre couple in Tamir in order to steal the hen that laid golden eggs. She waited in a closet until the male finished counting his treasure and fell asleep, then dashed out and took the bird. The ogre woke before she could get out of the house, and she was barely able to outrun it to safety (ogres have long legs; they're not fast but can cover a lot of ground quickly). Rosella, like her father before her, was lucky to get away. Ogres once terrorized Daventry. Daventry ogres don't talk, they growl. They are ferocious looking beasts.Ogres are practically indestructible. They have very thick skin and a very short temper. They try to kill individuals in their strong arms, to crush their bones. Ogres are afraid of goats. Though most had been forced out of Daventry when he was made king, some returned to Daventry with the coming of the Floating Castle. They were mostly avoiding human settlements, seemingly preferring the deserted byways and lonely margins of the woods. In, time they were likely to grow bolder. Still while Graham may have kept ogres at bay from causing trouble in the open, ogres and trolls still filled the secret spaces in Daventry known only to themselves. Some Ogres are hired as guards, for example Azakas. Jack encounter an ogre and his wife in a land in the clouds. He successfully killed the ogre by cutting down the beanstalk. Ogres may use strings to lure cats into their cooking pots. Dink maybe some kind of ogre (or at least looks like he was a cross between an ogre, a lion, a witch, and a wardrobe).
