  • Sleep is something we need every night. When we can't sleep that's called insomnia. Humans, like all animals, need sleep, along with , water and oxygen, to survive. For humans sleep is a vital indicator of overall health and well-being. We spend up to one-third of our lives asleep, and the overall state of our “sleep health” remains an essential question throughout our lifespan. Most of us know that getting a good night’s sleep is important, but too few of us actually make those eight or so hours between the sheets a priority. For many of us with sleep debt, we’ve forgotten what “being really, truly rested” feels like. They say sleep is for the weak, but then perhaps, they might be joking.

Sleep cannot be interrupted manually by the player once it has started. Animal attacks will interrupt sleep if they happen while the player is sleeping. Further, sandboxes on the Pilgrim or Voyageur experience modes have a chance to wake the player when they are nearing death or threatened. Other experience modes do not provide any such warning and allow the player to sleep themselves to death, so more attentive need management is required.

  • Sleep mode is when a Macintosh uses very low power and suspend all hard drive movement. It is a little like Shut Down, except for the contents of memory -- whatever was on the Mac before it went to sleep -- remains. Sleep mode, however, does not mean that it does not use up battery. It is possible, on laptops, to put a computer to sleep for a long time and lose all remaining battery charge. On Windows laptops, Hibernation mode is even more complete than sleep and actually will not let any power be wasted.
  • Sleep is a common nutrient deficiency in the caffeine stream caused by an over-abundance of blood. This condition occurs to over 99% of people within their lifetimes - apart from, of course, Edward Cullen - and in most cases the condition, when apparently out of the system, returns at a later date. Sleep has several common symptoms. The afflicted enters a coma-like state in which conscious motor functions cease, brain activity is reduced, stupidity increases, and the afflicted is entirely unaware of the outside world. This coma can last from a few minutes to several days. Sleep symptoms occur most frequently during regularly scheduled television showings of Fear Factor. Often, sleep sufferers (synonym: "zombies") will report hallucinatory experiences, such as: "cavemen playing pinball". If

  • There are moments in the lives of every practitioner of the mystic arts where discretion is truly the better part of valor. Not all foes are truly evil and deserving of annihilation - verily, some are but beasts of the field seeking provender, and are entitled to life as much as you or I. Yet, unchecked these creatures pose as great a threat to one as a score of rabid orcs. It is in such situations that the wise thaumaturge weaves a Sleep spell and leaves his opposition in deep slumber whilst vacating the current location. The Sleep spell is truly a serious enchantment that requires a fair amount of mental energy to cast, but it is not of such import as to leave the Spellcaster breathless or exhausted. To send your foes to a land of slumber, mix a double portion of Spider Silk with some Ginseng and chant “Duerme” as you sprinkle the reagents into the air. Fear not the distance between you and the intended victims, for the binding power of the Spider Silk will enfold them from afar, while the healing Ginseng will gently wrap them in deep sleep.
  • The first mass effect spell the developing magician learns, In Zu causes the scent of poppies to emanate from the caster in an ever-widening wedge, dropping into a sound of sleep all those touched by it. Only the toughest minds and wills may deny it. Nightshade, gathered when high tide coincides with a moonless midnight, must be mixed with ocean ginseng and spider silk. Moisten with brine and add sand to mix thoroughly. Lay to dry in bright moonlight. Note that this spell is just as effective on friend as foe; aim carefully.

  • Sleep is a stoner doom metal band from San Jose, California. Active during the 1990s, Sleep earned critical and record label attention early in their career. Critic Eduardo Rivadavia describes them as "perhaps the ultimate stoner rock band" and notes they exerted a strong influence on heavy metal in the 1990s. However, conflict with their record company had contributed to Sleep's breakup by the end of the decade. The band reformed in 2009, and have played sporadic live dates internationally since.
„Was ist los? Wieder in meinem Zimmer. Kategorie:Mittellang Kategorie:Kreaturen Kategorie:Artikel ohne Bilder
  • Sleep is a recurring status effect as well as the spell or skill causing the effect. Barring any form of succesful resistance, the target is magically put to sleep, becoming unable to perform any actions until awoken by taking physical damage or by having the status effect removed through other means that remove it. Targets with Magical Immunity will entirely resist the spell, but they might still be susceptible to the status effect itself and it may be applied to them by other means. In some settings, actors who have entirely exhausted their endurace will have this stat applied forcefully, with their endurance slowly regenerating while asleep.
  • Sleep is an affect that monkey's and bloon's get. Sleep will last 20 seconds, so if a monkey has the affect it will have Zs over it's head and if a bloon gets the affect, it will have a z on its core-thing.
  • Sleep is necessary to process instincts in the brain. All creatures sleep - if they do not, bad things happen, like forgetting that it is a good idea to sleep . . . which makes things worse and causes them to forget a lot of other things, like food being a good idea when you are hungry*, often leading to death. Compare with Rest. Image:Sleepingettin.jpg *NB: If your C2 Norn has forgotten how to eat, it's probably not due to sleep deprivation so don't go injecting them with sleepiness to fix it. See OHSS. Did you know? Death occurs in real life for rats after about 14 days of sleep deprivation.
  • When Kirby inhales a lethargic Noddy, he instantly falls asleep and can't do anything until he wakes up. This nap takes approximately 5 seconds, depending on the game. Since the player is unable to willingly drop the ability, Sleep has no Helper in Kirby Super Star / Ultra, like the other limited-use abilities such as Mike and Crash. Sleep's Copy Essence is also occasionally used as a hazard in some games due to the nature of the ability. Sleep isn't always completely useless, however. In Kirby Air Ride, the victim ailed with the ability is able to pass it on to another racer by crashing into them, leaving them with the debilitating ability instead. Also, if the player obtains the Sleep Ability Scroll in Kirby: Squeak Squad, Kirby will slowly regain health as he sleeps, up to just under 25% with all 8 Vitality pieces collected, so a Sleep Bubble heals more health than common food outside of combat, but Kirby is still defenseless while using it. In most games, Sleep Kirby appears at the game over screen (sometimes without the hat). If the player chooses to continue, Sleep Kirby will be woken up (a different method depending on the game), then Kirby will run off-screen (or towards the screen in Kirby: Triple Deluxe and Kirby: Planet Robobot) and the game continues from the beginning of the level. If the player chooses to quit, however, Sleep Kirby will inhale the hand that is interfering with his sleep and will continue sleeping. (However, in Kirby's Dream Land, the hand will charge up and punch away the sleeping Kirby, while in Kirby Super Star and Kirby Super Star Ultra, the hand puts Kirby on the moon or Planet Popstar, gives him a blanket, then leaves.)
  • In Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom you must sleep to get quests and learn new ablitys, sleeping also restores your health.

  • Sleep is a recurring Status Ailment found in the Disgaea series. Characters suffering from the ailment are unable to move or perform any actions, but will wake up if attacked, cured with Espoir or Fairy Dust, or by simply by waiting a number of turns. A sleeping character is indicated by several yellow "Z"s floating above their head. In Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice, Succubi can gain an Evility that lets them inflict much greater damage on a sleeping foe.
  • Sleep is a ability that all players have. This allows them to sleep anywhere they want and regain their stats. It is similar to the aliment except they can do this when they want. Certain items improve sleep and will make it better.

To wake a Mac up, press a key or move the mouse. If a laptop has slept and needs waking, open its case and, if needed, press a key.
  • Players can sleep on a bed in any safehouse for up to 10 hours at a time. The player can select the amount of time they wish to sleep by selecting a bed and dragging the pointer to the length of time they wish to sleep. The longer the player sleeps, the more sleep they will replenish. Players can also regain sleep by consuming No Zzz pills, although the pills will not work if they have 0% sleep. Sleep is a requirement in Survivor mode, and if not replenished when low, it will penalize the player on their Precision and Intellect skills. However, players will not pass out or die if they get too tired. Sleep is not a requirement in Run & Gun, although players are still able to sleep in a safehouse. In all modes, sleep restores the player's health and stamina. An achievement called "Sleepy" is awarded for sleeping 50 hours.
  • Sleep is an effect players or monsters may encounter in NetHack. While asleep, you are immobilized for a number of turns. Sleep resistance prevents this from happening.

  • Sleeping is a gameplay feature in Elona. To sleep, use a sleeping bag or bed with t when the 'Sleepy', 'Need Sleep', or 'Need Sleep!' status effect is displayed at the lower left corner of the screen. You can also sleep by resting (R) while you are affected by either level of 'Need Sleep' status. While sleeping, you can have randomly-selected positive and negative dreams, as well as bonuses to your skill potentials based on the amount of experience gained since you last slept and the type of bed. The random effects can come in the form of training potential for your attributes and skills, stocks in a random spell, mutations, and more. Sleeping without bedding will result in penalties to the skill potential gained through experience, and superior beds (like the king's bed in Palmia) generally provide a greater potential multiplier for sleeping. Note that you must actually select and use the bed in the tool menu in order to sleep in it; accidentally or purposefully resting in the same tile as a bed on the ground will count as sleeping on the floor instead. A bed in your inventory does not have to be placed on the ground to be used. If you are married, and choose to "make a gene", you will always be sleeping on the ground, resulting in no added bonus to sleep-based potential training through beds. This makes sleeping with your spouses inferior to sleeping alone with a portable bed. However, if you have no portable bed, making a gene is a way to enter sleep at a time of your choice, without relying upon luck with resting. Avoiding sleep for long enough to enter the red 'Need Sleep!' status will cause your stamina to drop constantly, quickly rendering you very slow unless already riding and unable to use special actions, special ammunition, and some crafting skills like cooking. Traveling on the world map will cause your character to take some occasional naps, which does not affect travel time and partially alleviates the need to sleep but does not allow you to dream. Sleepy statuses can also be removed without positive or negative effects by entering any shelter during bad weather.
  • Sleeping is a state where loose Goo Balls or Goo structures are immobile and unresponsive. Sleeping Goo Balls cannot be picked up nor do they move around on the ground. Sleeping Goo Balls forming structures cannot be used to build structures. Sleeping Goo can be awakened by moving an "awake" structure, or moving a Beauty Goo or Small Beauty Goo close to it. Sleeping is common in World of Goo, and can be found in many levels. When a Goo is awakened, an exclamation mark appears above their heads and a sound effect indicates that they have woken up. They are first seen in Small Divide where the player must build a bridge across to some sleeping Goo. Some sleeping Goo Balls can be nudged closer to an "awake" structure to wake the Goo Ball up, but some sleeping Goo Balls will not move even if nudged by other Goos. This article is a . • Up to 12 consecutive hours may be slept in a row, with the amount of time being adjustable by whole hour increments only. The amount of time the player will sleep may not be exactly the number of hours selected, but may vary by plus or minus 10 minutes.
  • Sleep is a condition which has a few meanings in World of Warcraft: 1. * A prone non-combat position where a character lies down on whatever they are sitting or standing on.Additional notes: 2. * A character cannot walk, run, jump or engage in combat directly from a sleeping position, they must first stand. 3. * It takes a short amount of time to sleep from a sitting or standing position and about equal amount of time to stand from a sleeping position. 4. * A character begins adding potential bonus XP time when they sleep only when in an inn or capital city.Note: You don't actually have to be in the sleeping position to get this bonus, simply logging out in a location where your character portrait shows a Resting bonus is sufficient. 5. * A variety of spells and abilities that cause a sleep-like state. See Sleep Effect. See Sleep (mage spell).
  • Denobulans required little sleep, other than their annual six-day hibernation cycle. (ENT: "Dear Doctor", "Two Days and Two Nights") During Hoshi Sato's delusion while out of phase in the pattern buffer, she overslept and showed up late for work but could not do her job properly, so Jonathan Archer suggested she go back to sleep. Later, Doctor Phlox suggested she get a good night's sleep. (ENT: "Vanishing Point") Unable to reach REM sleep within Tyken's Rift, the crew of the USS Brattain went insane and seemingly murdered each other. (TNG: "Night Terrors" ) When he was briefly stripped of his powers and made a normal, mortal Human, Q found sleep to be one of the most disturbing processes of the Human condition. (TNG: "Deja Q" ) Because he was an android, Data did not require sleep, a fact that disturbed Captain Picard when he was trying to fall asleep on a Klingon vessel headed for the Romulan Star Empire on a secret mission in 2368. (TNG: "Unification I" ) In 2371, Bajoran First Minister Kalem Apren died in his sleep due to heart failure. (DS9: "Shakaar") In 2374, The Doctor, performing osteopathic pressure therapy on Captain Kathryn Janeway, asked if she'd been getting enough sleep, to which she replied, "More or less. Mostly less." He complained that she worked "absurdly long hours under constant stress, eating on the run, without sufficient exercise or rest." (VOY: "Scientific Method") In 2376, an exhausted and sleep-deprived Tuvok fell asleep on the bridge of the Voyager, revealing that Vulcans, like Humans, snore. Not withstanding this, it was possible for Vulcans to go without sleep for more than two weeks, though there was eventually a point of diminishing returns. (VOY: "Muse") Seven of Nine didn't sleep and regenerated instead. She made a holonovel in which she acquired quarters after the holographic Chakotay told her she should be sleeping instead of regenerating. ((citation needed • [ edit])) Species 8472 did not sleep. (VOY: "In the Flesh") Neither did Jem'Hadar. (DS9: "To the Death") Tosk only required seventeen minutes of sleep per rotation. (DS9: "Captive Pursuit")
  • [[Category:]] Sleep was a spell of the enchantment school used by wizards, bards and sorcerers, as well as warlocks with Archfey patrons.
  • Sleep is a state of natural rest common in many species. The Asominians only require sleep once every twenty years. (DS9 novel: Devil in the Sky) Vulcans could modify their metabolism so that they could go several weeks without requiring sleep, however they would eventually need to sleep for an extended period in order to recover. (TOS novel: The Entropy Effect) The android Data did not require sleep, something which disturbed Jean-Luc Picard when the two were sharing quarters on a Klingon vessel in 2368. (TNG episode: Unification)
  • Sleep is a physiological process characterized by unconsciousness, uncontrolled muscle movement, lack of muscle rigidity and rapid eye movement behind closed eyelids. It is a normal part of human behavior and is also observed in all vertebrates and arthropods although its exact nature may change from species to species. Most humans have a normal sleep period of eight hours of nighttime sleep for every twenty-four hour period. Too little sleep results in fatigue, irritability and inattention to routine along with physical symptoms such as dark circles below the eyes. Many diseases can affect sleep patterns. Most infections result in a greater need for sleep, but some rare infections may cause hypersomnia - very lengthy sleep periods. Other disorders may cause insomnia or disturbed sleep. Moreover, individuals who do not sleep regularly, such as those who work at night, shift workers or airline crews, often suffer secondary symptoms from their lack of regular sleep patterns no matter how much sleep they actually get. Sleep can be disturbed by noise, intense light, pain and excessive heat or cold. This differs it from other forms of unconsciousness, such as those that result from sedatives, where an individual remains unresponsive to these stimuli. Some disorders result in disruption of sleep even when the patient does not realize they are constantly being woken, such as sleep apnea. Normal sleep constitutes moving back and forth through four phases from light to deep, as well as experiencing REM sleep where dreaming occurs. At birth, babies tend to sleep for very long periods each day, but not regularly, and easily move from light to deep sleep. The need for sleep decreases until puberty, when humans tend to want to sleep later and stay up later - this accommodates rapid growth which generally takes place during sleep. However, after puberty, humans tend to sleep more lightly and do not enter deep sleep as easily. This trend gets worse as people age. Once sleep patterns are regularly established, they are very hard to change. For example, night shift workers who have worked that way for years may find after leaving those jobs they cannot sleep through the night.
If a friend is suffering from any one of the symptoms it is advisable to inject no less than 15lbs of caffeine directly into their veins. This should combat the effects of Sleep. If this does not work, try any kind of physical contact, e.g Shaking, battering with a large object, or removing the limbs. If sleep persists immediately contact a morgue, as they are likely already dead.
